Google Plus Authorship
-
Situation Description:
I have a website called Website A. I wish to migrate alot of the content from Website A to Website B. Website B will be on a completely different domain name and environment. Authors of Website A will act as contributing authors for Website B. It is also possible that other contributing authors of other websites C and D commit to writing content on Website B.
Questions
(1) Does it make sense to create a google plus profile under UserA@websiteA.com and link from content on websiteB to their google plus profile under UserA@websiteA.com?
(2) Does AuthorRank affect PageRank? If yes, if I take the above approach would websiteA be effected or websiteB since the content writers of websiteA are contributing to websiteB?
(3) Is it ok for userA to have a corporate google plus profile assuming he might also have another google plus profile under a different address?
I always think it make sense that there exists a google plus profile at an employee level and another google plus profile at a personal level.
(4) If an employee leaves the company, do I leave his/hers Google Plus profile alive? The fact that no more content would be published under that particular profile, would that negatively effect author rank over time?
(5) Another interesting observation is that UsaToday, CNN etc do not use authorship? No authors link to their twitter profile or google plus profile. Shouln't they be doing this in terms of author rank or is author rank not that important?
Thank you

(1) Yes. G+ authorship represents real human authors, and it's not only perfectly natural for an author to contribute to multiple sites, it should make that author more credible, as multiple websites "believe in" their expertise and accept their contributions. I also believe that AuthorRank will consider the diversity of authors writing for a given site to be a positive thing.
(2) AuthorRank doesn't really exist yet, according to most experts, FYI. But I don't know if you can find anyone who'd predict that it WON'T make it into the algorithm soon. PageRank is a completely separate factor & algo. The Google ranking algorithm is a combination of many factors, of which PageRank is one, AuthorRank will likely be one eventually, Panda is one, Penguin is one, etc.
(3) I think that's OK, however, keep in mind that if the user is very active on a personal level, this social online activity won't benefit his/her corporate profile. If that person is willing to spend a little time every week in BOTH profiles, sharing, commenting, interacting, etc., then I think all is good. On the other hand, a social media profile that never interacts...just publishes...that looks like spam.
(4) I would leave their profile alone, and encourage them to use it wherever they are going forwards. If they continue to be active, build more trust and authority, etc., that can only benefit you.
(5) They should. NY Times does. It might not be affecting them now, with AuthorRank apparently not yet part of the algorithm, but it is expected to. Keep in mind, giant corporations typically have a very hard time making changes, and for a massive industry leader like CNN or USA Today, they've got such strong backlink profiles that there isn't nearly the pressure on them to take advantage of new and upcoming factors like AuthorRank.

Interest in optimise Google Crawl
Hello, I have an ecommerce site with all pages crawled and indexed by Google. But I have some pages with multiple urls like : www.sitename.com/product-name.html and www.sitename.com/category/product-name.html There is a canonical on all these pages linking to the simplest url (so Google index only one page). So the multiple pages are not indexed, but Google still comes crawling them. My question is : Did I have any interest in avoiding Google to crawl these pages or not ? My point is that Google crawl around 1500 pages a day on my site, but there are only 800 real pages and they are all indexed on Google. There is no particular issue, so is it interesting to make it change ? Thanks

Recovery after recent Google update
Hi guys. This is somewhat a continuation for this topic: https://moz.com/community/q/january-2016-massive-rankings-fluctuations After that update, several of our clients and our website as well have experienced high fluctuation rankings period, which ended up in huge drops - 10-20 spots. Which, obviously, made everyone unhappy. Anybody knows what exactly the change was about? What should we fix/take a look at, analyze again? We aren't using any shady techniques or black hat. Everything is honest. All metrics, number of backlinks etc are going up, no major changes have been recently made. Please, help!

Rank Tracker Result Not Reflected In Google
I'm tracking keyword results in Rank Tracker, but I can't confirm the positions when I do a Google search for the tracked keywords. Does anybody know why RT says the site should be #23, but is not actually in Google? Is there a way to check Google results from different data centers? If I recall, Google allowed the option to view results from different cities, though I don't know if they still allow this.

Is there a way to contact Google besides the google product forum?
Our traffic from google has dropped more than 35% and continues to fall. We have been on this forum and google's webmaster forum trying to get help. We received great advice, have waited months, but instead of our traffic improving, it has worsened. We are being penalized by google for many keywords such as trophies, trophies and awards and countless others - we were on page one previously. We filed two reconsideration requests and were told both times that there were no manual penalties. Some of our pages continue to rank well, so it is not across the board (but all of our listings went down a bit). We have made countless changes (please see below). Our busy season was from March to May and we got clobbered. Google, as most people know, is a monopoly when it comes to traffic, so we are getting killed. At first we thought it was Penquin, but it looks like we started getting killed late last year. Lots of unusual things happened - we had a large spike in traffic for two days, then lost our branded keywords, then our main keywords. Our branded keywords came back pretty quickly, but nothing else did. We have received wonderful advice and made most of the changes. We are a very reputable company and have a feeling we are being penalized for something other than spamming. For example, we have a mobile site we added late last year and a wholesale system was added around the same time. Since the date does not coincide with Penquin, we think there is some major technical driver, but have no idea what to do at this point. The webmasters have all been helpful, but nothing is working. We are trying to find out what one does in a situation as we are trying to avoid closing our business. Thank you! Changes Made: 1. We had many crawl errors so we reduced them significantly 2. We had introduced a mobile website in January which we

thought may have been the cause (splitting traffic, duplicate content, etc.),
so we had our mobile provider add the site to their robots.txt file. 3. We were told by a webmaster that their were too many
links from our search provider, so we have them put the search pages in a
robots.txt file. 4. We were told that we had too much duplicate content. This was / is true, as we have hundred of legitate products that are similar:
example trophies and certificates that are virtually the same but are
for different sports or have different colors and sizes. Still, we added more content and added no index tags to many products. We compared our % of dups to competitors and it is far less. 5. At the recommendation of another webmaster, we changed
many pages that might have been splitting traffic. 6. Another webmaster told us that too many people were
linking into our site with the same text, namely Trophy Central and that it
might have appeared we were trying to game the system somehow. We have never bought links and don't even have a webmaster although over the last 10 years have worked with programmers and seo companies (but we don't think any have done anything unusual). 7. At the suggestion of another webmaster, we have tried to
improve our link profile. For example,
we found Yahoo was not linking to our url. 8. We were told to setup a 404 page, so we did 9. We were told to ensure that all of the similar domains
were pointing to www.trophycentral.com/ so we setup redirects 10. We were told that a site that we have linking to us from too many places so we reduced it to 1. Our key pages have A rankings from SEOMOZ for the selected keywords. We have made countless other changes recommended by experts
but have seen no improvements (actually got worse). I am the
president of the company and have made most of the above recent changes myself. Our website is trophycentral.com0 -
Google authorship program-sometimes it works..and sometimes ...
sometimes my picture shows up in search results and sometimes it doesn't. I find it depends who's computer I search. Is there a way to make it show up all the time for search results? Also, what determines if your picture shows up besides the article itself or just on the right in a general box showing your google+ profile?

Google badge extracted to SERPs
It's a while ago that (i thought) I read the following information on the Google badge. Here https://developers.google.com/+/plugins/badge/ we have the implementation guide, however I was under the impression the Google badge could be thereafter extracted into SERPs so the user could follow etc... direct from SERPs. I can't find anything confirming this. I think that it might clash with authorship data which does a similar job, but where a site page is not relevant to authorship at all, I would have thought linking back to the G+ page from SERPs was a sensible option. Can anyone confirm the Google badge can appear in SERPs?

Google Adsense Good for SEO?
Is there any merit to the statement that Google will give some SEO value to sites that display Adsense? Or is there absolutely no SEO value for or against a site that displays Adsense Ads? Clearly, it would benefit Google's finance to give at least a small boost to sites that display Adsense, but do they do it? My guess is no, but I'm wondering ...
