Trouble ranking

I have a site that got messed over pretty hard by a BigCommerce issue. They used to rank but then Big Commerce had a glitch that set every page on the site to a https which was auto set, by their system, to not be indexed. This caused the entire site to go missing. It was then fixed by me, only to have the same glitch happen again. I again fixed it, and BigCommerce released a patch to resolve the issue. They admitted blame to my client and said it can take a while to resolve.
It has been a few months now, and google is slowly recrawling the site. It has about half the pages indexed. The pages that are indexed do not rank at all. I was wondering if you guys see any major flags that would cause this or if it is still related to the big commerce glitch.

We have not gotten any warnings from webmaster tools. All of these links were on the site before we started. And the number of poor links like that are fairly minimal. They do not have a ton of links to begin with and I do not imagine directory links, which were valid in the past, would harm them like this.
The links are not in the form of blogroll, paid links, irrelevant sites, link lists, or anything like that.
We have been building them links through guest blogging and local university discount programs.

Did you ever received any unnatural links warning or a penalty from Google ? Are you verified in Google Webmaster Console ? I agree with David, try to clean up those directory links and see if you can build some real links like a real business would have. There are some great articles here at http://moz.com/blog/category/link-building if you need some ideas.

I see a lot of junk in the link profile, such as:
- proinfolink.info
- topseodirectory.co.uk
- netdirectoryltd.info
- seosong.com
- seolinkdirectory.co.uk
- netsitedirectory.info
- ilinkindex.info
- dsubmit.com
- seorganix.com
- seolistworld.info
- bestsubmitsystem.info
- etc
You might consider cleaning those up and focusing on earning some awesome links

Highly ranked pages to new domain?
Hi everyone! We are ranked #1 for about 30 product pages at www.oldsite.com/product1 and we are wanting to move about 30 of those pages to a new site www.newsite.com/product1 (new domain and hosting - which we own). What is the best way to do this? I'm confused if you recreate those pages on the new domain vs. ftp move them, 301 re-directs, etc. Looking for the things we must do and the sequence to do it all, etc. Thanks so much!

Our web site lost ranking on google a couple of years ago. We have done lots of work on it but still can not improve our search ranking. Can anyone give us some advise
A couple of years ago the ranking on our site dropped over night. I believe someone working here at the time purchased links about that time. We have been doing lots of work on the site since then to improve it. We can not get our rankings back up on google searches. Can anyone give us some advise about what to do or where to go for some help that we can trust.

Page Rank Worse After Optimization
For a long time, we had terrible on page SEO. No keyword targeting, no meta titles or descriptions. Just a brief 2-4 sentence product description and shipping information. Strangely, we weren't ranking too bad. For one product, we were ranking on page 1 of Google for a certain keyword. My goal to reach the top of page 1 would be easy (or so I thought). I have now optimized this page to rank better for the same keyword. I have a 276 word description with detailed specifications and shipping information. I have a strong title and meta description with keywords and modifers. I have also included a video demonstration, additional photos and an PDF of the owners manual. In my eyes, the page is 100% better than it ever was. In the eyes of MOZ, it's better also. I've got an A with the On-Page Grader. Why is this page now ranking on page 8 of Google? What have I done wrong? What can I do to correct it?

Huge Google Dance For Some Rankings. What Gives?
I've got a relatively new website (launched at the beginning of June 2013). For some keywords I'm targeting, it first ranked around page 15. It made huge jumps to finally rank on page 2 or 3. Since then, it goes back to page 15 and then back to page 3. It does this every now and then. Any ideas?

Redirect or Rewrite? 2 pages ranking
We have two pages ranking for "Custom Web Design" http://www.imageworksstudio.com/custom-web-design ranks higher (consistently 9-13) and http://www.imageworksstudio.com/content/custom-web-design ranks around 35-40 the latter is actually an older version of the article that never was replaced or taken down - but it has the majority of the links to it Wondering if we should update the old content so it is not similar to the one that is ranking better or if we should redirect everything to /custom-web-design to see if it can secure better rankings?

Lowercase Company Name - Impact on Rankings?
A company who spells their name in all lower case, uses their name spelled exactly this way in titles & meta descriptions & throughout all of their site's content pages - will it affect rankings (particularly since the company name isn't a recognised word)? For example, let's say the company is called "twintrest" Which <title>would be better:</p> <ul> <li><span style="background-color: initial;">A) </span><span style="background-color: initial;">Twintrest - It's Like a Twitter & Pinterest Cocktail or</span></li> <li><span style="background-color: initial;">B) twintrest - It's Like a Twitter & Pinterest Cocktail</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="background-color: initial;">I am leaning towards "A" because the crawler would recognise "Twintrest" at least as a noun, where as in B it could be misconstrued as a spelling mistake.</span></p> <p>Also, in content it would need to be italicised right? <span style="background-color: initial;">So both these would be ok:</span></p> <ul> <li><span style="background-color: initial;">You should use Twintrest because it rocks. or</span></li> <li><span style="background-color: initial;">You should use </span><em style="background-color: initial;">twintrest </em><span style="background-color: initial;">because it rocks.</span></li> </ul> <p>But not:</p> <ul> <li><span style="background-color: initial;">You should use twintrest because it rocks</span><span style="background-color: initial;">.</span></li> </ul> <p>Is it worth pointing out?</p> <p>I've noticed that jcpenny spell their name in lowercase and use this format in their meta tags, however, they are a well established brand. Ranking Factors for Google
Yesterday a blog post appeared on SEOMOZ titled 'A Tale Of Two Studies' - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/a-tale-of-two-studies-google-vs-bing-clickthrough-rate It suggested some of the ranking factors Google and Bing take into account when ranking. A few of them I want to talk about: Social Signals, Age of Domain and H1 HTML Tag So I thought age of domain and H1 both had some weight in Google? I guess not! And social signals, now I know it gives some weight but its right up there in the list for both SE's, so should getting likes, tweets, plus1's now be part of my everyday link building?
