Content Marketing - Getting Webmaster to Link to Article
-
Hello,
We're doing a niche article and we want to do a link building campaign around it.
I'm not as interested in being linked to in resource sections - that will happen - but my question is for other links.
What types of links am I looking for, is it guest posts - is that the best? If so, how do convince them to allow a guest post around an article?
Thanks.

Thanks Carla and Shailendra,
Let me give a few more details that might help.
Although we're marketing an article, we're looking simply to strengthen the DA of the whole site. We want to get abut 30 links to the article of various strengths and thus bump up our DA.
Also, not one of the dozens of sites I've come across have an article on the topic, but it would be very useful to many of them.
What can you tell me about how this works, whether it's guest posting, and what's involved?

Hi Bob,
Carla is right. Also, you can check the service provided by http://www.bloggerlinkup.com/. We have used this service with good success rate.

Hi Bob,
We do content marketing ourselves and here is something we have learned. If your PR is high enough and your article is niche enough, you will rank without any incoming links. See attachment.
I recommend you contact people that are interested in the topic and see if they have an article similar to yours but not quite as indepth. Chances are they will want to link to your niche article from theirs.
It worked for us. Thanks Carla

Backlinks vs External Links vs Referral Links vs Outbound links
Hello all, I was just wondering if you could explain the difference between all the links above? I'm confused as they all seem to be the same or similar and I would just like to clearly know what distinguishes them from eachother. Thanks for your help, Jayne

If someone were to link to our site on now on an old article (dating back 1-2 years) is that still beneficial if all other variables are good?
I'm trying to build up our external links and am finding lots of opportunities, some of which are on older articles dating back to 2014, 2013 etc. These pieces are relevant to our site and have high DA, I'm wondering if the post date of these articles matter? Thanks!

Self linking article
Every article on SearchEngineLand is self linked by it's title on H1 tag. I want to ask you if there is a SEO ranking benefit from it. I saw another sites that practice this tactic. Ex: http://searchengineland.com/forecast-google-lose-1-4-billion-pc-revenue-search-shifts-mobile-186504

Content Marketing and how it effects Rankings
Hi there everyone! I have what I think is a simple question, but one I can't fully understand the answer to. If I had a homepage that I wanted to optimize for the keyword, e.g. "Second Hand Cars", so I add the keyword in the page title and text etc etc. But I still don't rank well for it. So I turn to content marketing and create some content on my site's blog about new cars, sports cars, and of course second hand cars, with some great content and anchor text pointing back to the home page. Now here's my question, how does creating that content on a blog, or on someone's blog/website help my homepage rank higher for my chosen keyword? Surely it would just help the blog post rank higher? And if someone were to search for "Buy Secondhand cars", wouldn't my hypothetical blog post (with more shares and links than my home page) rank higher than the home page itself? If anyone can clear this up for me I'd be eternally grateful! Thanks in advance Cheers

How do you check to see if your site (site A) has already been linked to by another site (site B) when you have a large site with lots of links
There are some basics in SEO relating to finding out about who has linked to whom that I could use some help with.

How come SEOMOZ isn't showing the same inbound links that Webmaster Tools does?
Webmaster Tools shows inbound links that don't show up in SEOMOZ. What is that?

Nofollow links & content syndication
When syndicating content, I have heard/read that even if the piece you syndicate has a link back to your site (original post), the engines should be able to tell your post is the original because of the link that is pointing back. Is this the case when the links are "nofollow"? I think not, but I just would like to get someone else point of view. I think that if they don't want to follow the links, they should at least add noindex meta robots tags to the post so it doesn't create duplicate content... Any thoughts? Thanks!
