Main keyword problem
-
Hello
Since the latest Google update our main keyword has been dropping. We employed a SEO company about 6 weeks ago and since then the keyword has dropped a couple of pages further on Google. We have been using the Remove'em site to check our backlinks and a blog this SEO company have done has appeared on the list. The DA is good but the PA is low. In the blog they have linked the exact keyword to our site homepage.
Do you think the blogs the SEO company are doing will be causing us more problems?
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks

Good link or bad link - has to do with a lot of what you'd expect. For example, a link from (I'm making up examples) Forbes.com would probably do a business a lot more good than a link from a site like mikesbuisnessknowledge.com. Or, links from .gov/.edu also are seen as better because there's criteria around what kind of institutions can have those URLs. One .gov link could be better than 100 links from OK sites.

Thank you for responding, the blog is wordpress as for the back links it is difficult for us to understand, we have download our back links report from Open Explorer which is also hard to understand, is there a vidieo that can explain what everything means?
From previous postings some people say look where competitios are linking and try and get a link there, one rival is always at the top so I did this for what looked like a good site and this link returned this:
PA - 45
DA - 95
Domains Linking to this Page - 22
Number of Domains Linking to Domain - 3318508
Link Equity - Yes
No Link Equity - No
What determines if this is a good link or not also what is the point of Link Equity - Yes and No Link Equity - No does this not contradict itself, I am sorry if I sound thick?

Any link from a good domain is a great thing to have on website.
Does your blog in WordPress or blogger? How many back links you are getting from blogs on the targeted keywords? is it related to your business services ?
How many times do you have repeat the same keywords?
Could you please explain?

Well, it is generally accepted today that a strategy of large numbers of back links using exact match anchor text is best avoided but I doubt that at this short interval, what they are doing is the cause of your continued downward slide--unless they are doing it on a very big scale. Diverse anchor text from quality sites should be the goal.

Is ranking power mainly a matter of links?
Hey all. SEO noob here, trying to check my understanding. In competitive analysis, is ranking power at the domain level really all about DA? And is DA basically a count of unique inbound follow links, modulated by the authority of the referring source and spam scores? In other words, is ranking power basically a function of DA and PA? I realize on-page and technical factors can also play a role, but authority seems to be key. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Why would backlinks trump content and keywords / DA?
While analyzing competition, I frequently see backlinks being the biggest factor at deciding rank for keywords, while content and keyword page grading can say great things, it always comes down to backlinks it seems. Even our DA is better or equal, Why would this be?

Guidelines for keyword-targeting and link building?
Hello, Every month, I set a goal of targeting 10 - 15 relevant keywords for my website. I then attempt to boost my site's rankings for these terms through a combination of content writing and white hat, non-paid link building. My question is: Are there general guidelines for keyword-targeting and backlinks? Is it healthy to target 10 - 15 different keywords (or more??) like this per month?

Keyword use in online directories
I have been adding our website to online directories which quite often allow me to add a brief description of the organization and add a list of Key words. With regards to the keywords should I list keywords from the organisiantion description that I have entered on the site or should I use the key words that we are trying to rank for, that don’t necessarily feature in the description on the site

Root domain registered in search engines, inbound links to www sub-domain. A problem?
I just discovered that our site is registered with the major search engines without the "www" sub domain. Both domains resolve directly to our site, which I need to get corrected. I had planned to have the root (honestabe.com) forwarded to the sub (www.honestabe.com). However, I then found that the sub-domain is not listed with the search engines. Of course, naturally almost all of our inbound links include www. Does Google differentiate between links with and without the sub-domain? In other words, if I forward the www address to the root, will I still get the SEO benefit of those inbound links using www? I'm trying to figure out how to approach this. I'm hoping someone is going to make me feel really stupid for asking this and say it's no big deal. However, I have a feeling this could be a mess.

Ranking dropped by 7 positions for many keywords
Hey, Since yesterday my ranking dropped by in average 7 positions for most keywords. iIm not 100% sure whats the matter. I rank under the top3 for a quite comptetitive keyword since several months. During the last 4 weeks it wasn't that stady (between 2 - 4) because the competition is using an aggressiv link building method.

I'm adding constantly new content and the link building is also quite natural. Maybe I linked the same sites from some of my blogs too often... and Google may see it as a "link network". I experience the same for two of those sites. Maybe I should remove those links? Any suggestions? Thanks!0 -
Is it a bad idea to build unique sites to build credibility for your main site?
It is hard to sum up the question in one line, but basically my company has bought several descriptive domains that we would like to build out into microsites that link back to our main site. For example...say we are a florist. Our main site talks about all the different kinds of flowers we have and the work we do. So the idea is to buy weddingflowersdallas.com (example only...) and have a mini site that has the same look and feel as our main site, but has unique content that talks solely about our wedding flower business and has a few links back to our main site. 1. Is this a no no from a google perspective? 2. Is this a good strategy in general? Thanks, David
