Should I move my blog to my other domain ?
-
i have 2 ecommerce sites with 2 separate blogs, I m planning to redirect-301 one of the sites to the other. I want to move the blog content from the older site to the other site. Can just copy the content to the new site and combine with the existing blog content.?
I would appreciate any suggestions on this topic.

Orion,
Moving/merging one site into another has substantial and long-lasting implications so you do not want to go into that lightly. It's not necessarily a difficult task, but it is one that takes plenty of planning and forethought. Most SEOs can tell you many stories of being called to the rescue after a company jumped headlong into the merging of their domains, only to find out that they lost lots of search traffic, lots of links, and/or lots of audience members. If you don't have an strong need to move forward immediately and you don't have an expert in-house or a contractor to turn to, there's no harm in taking a month or two or three to slowly study up and become your own expert on merging domains/blogs. You might start with these resources:
- Moving your site - Webmaster Tools Help
- Redirection - SEO Best Practices - Moz
- Cutts excellent video on 301 redirect limits
- 301 Redirect Relevance
And then you might move on to wrap your arms around the information in found in searches such as:

Moving a complete website or merging one is always a difficult topic.
Redirecting one of them to the other is a good idea but make sure that people will always end up on the right pages. This is critical for your user experience and pagerank distribution.
If i go to example.com/bicycles/bike1.html i certainly do not want to be redirected to example2.com/
The blog content can be moved without a problem but make sure to redirect all the old articles to the proper new articles.

How to promote your blog content
Hi there, we've been blogging for a while now. Some of our content ranks quit well, other posts don't seem to be ranking at all. The weird thing (I think it's weird...) is that we recently published a post and focussed on a phrase that competes with over 400 million indexed pages, and after 3 weeks we're on page 3, and for other posts with only 2.5 million indexed pages we rank past page 5 (ok, this post is already 1,5 year old, does this matter?). To give you some background info, we moved our blog in January in a new subdomain, and redirected the old url's, but didn't actively promote the old posts. Would promoting the old articles through social media help us boost the rankings for these articles (the articles are "best practices", "how-to's", ...). Where / how do you promote your content after you published it on your blog? I find it hard posting in LinkedIn groups related to finance while I have the "online marketing manager" title on my profile. Why would a finance professional read an article shared by a marketing dude? As LinkedIn's API doensn't allow to post into groups anymore, do you actually go through all your relevant groups every time you publish a new blog to share the article?

How to best host a blog - standalone or on the site?
HI We are redesiging our site currently - at the moment we have a low key blog on the site which is pretty well hidden (to be changed with redesign) but is hosted as brand.com/blog name. I have been advised it might be a good idea on relaunch to have the blog as a standalone blog linking back to our main site but also having a graphic on the site that promotes the blog. The blog does not currently have the same name as the website so would work as a standalone site but I understand it would not have any seo benefits from the original site. I have seen on previous posts here that the best practise is domain.com/blog but wondered if anyone thought different? Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks, Penny

My Guest Blog: Still A Good Link Building Resource?
In an effort to build some links, we want to really work on improving our blog content and exposure. We want to write two quality posts per week, and submit 1 quality guest post every 1-2 weeks. However, we're not sure how to go about submitting guest posts or who to submit them to? I found an all article from SEOmoz http://moz.com/blog/4-valuable-link-building-services but it's from 2010. Is myguestblog still a good source? Are there better ways of doing it? Also, is ever advisable to pay to submit a post? Some of the legal blogs (we're a law firm) have this option, but that strikes me as spammy or low quality links. Just to reiterate, we are striving to write high-quality useful content audiences will find beneficial, not just junk or salesmanship. If it takes longer than a week to write posts like that, that's fine. We just really need some specific advise on who we should be submitting our guest posts to and who we should avoid. Thank you all so much for any advice or suggestions, Ruben

Blog Frequency
Hi, We have a new blog, we write 4 blogs per month and have been posting all 4 in one go at the same time per month. Would it be more beneficial to post the blogs 1 per week or does it not matter? Also, is 4 blog 250 word blogs per month enough or should we be doing more? Thanks Andrew

Moving a html site into Wordpress
I'm getting ready to move a site into Wordpress. The current or old site is built with static html pages. My question is, how should I handle Google with these old pages. Should I 301 redirect from each old page to the new? Or is there a better way to handle it?

Blog at blogspot
Hi My website provider doesnt yet have the function to integrate blog under my domain name so the blog is at blogspot. Inevitably there will be quite some links going from blog to differnet pages on my site. I havent yet incorporated a clickable link from my homepage to blog. I am not sure wether to do this or not. Will this just reduce the value of the links going from the blog ? Thanks

Opinions for the Long URL strings in WordPress Blogs.
We use Wordpress for our agency Blogs. The URL's are very long and the Moz does not like the long URL's. Should we use the stubby, short Wordpress URL's for each blog post? Is there a "Best Practice" for how one should use the Wordpress URL string?
