On March 10 a client's newsroom disappeared out of the SERPS. Any idea why?

For years the newsroom, which is on the subdomain news.davidlerner.com - has ranked #2 for their brand name search. On march 10 it fell out of the SERPs - it is completely gone. What happened? How can I fix this?

This could have to do with Google's desire to present the most diverse selection of results for terms, and since there are a range of other websites relevant for the [david lerner] query, Google has dropped the subdomain in favour of keeping the main site in first position, and showing a potentially relevant result for a totally different business in second position (the leggings result). This can happen even when a result has ranked well for years.
To solve this, it would be good if the site displayed "sitelinks" for the brand query (i.e. the six or more links that appear below a branded search, usually linking to other key pages within the website). Obtaining these links usually requires strength and authority that far outweighs other companies with similar names. It's not very common to see subdomains appearing as sitelinks, but it does happen sometimes, when a brand and the subdomain are particularly strong, e.g. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ycombinator&oq=ycombinator&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j0l5.1467j0j9&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=119&ie=UTF-8 (look at the Hacker News and Y Combinator Posthaven links).
You have a partial duplication issue with both http://news.davidlerner.com/ and http://news.davidlerner.com/news_index.php displaying the snippets for largely the same stories, but this should not be enough to damage the subdomain from a Panda point of view. You may consider restricting bots' access to the /news_index.php page unless it is performing a different task from an SEO perspective for you. Again, I do not believe this has caused the site to drop out of the rankings (and it is still perfectly indexed, ranking for its URL and full name) but it's something to consider tidying up.

Is the Google results serp broken?
Hi everyone! We've been trying to decipher how many of our pages are indexed by google at the moment. If we do the usual "site:https://www.hobbydb.com" search term, the serp says that we have more than 740,000 pages indexed. However, when I do a deep dive and click through to the last page of results, I can only get to page 54, and then there are no more results. This would mean that I only have 540 pages indexed, not 740,000. We have also done other queries for other sub-sections of our website, and the results also truncate at 50 pages. Has anyone run into this problem? Any suggestions are appreciated! Best, Alex

Test site got indexed in Google - What's the best way of getting the pages removed from the SERP's?
Hi Mozzers, I'd like your feedback on the following: the test/development domain where our sitebuilder works on got indexed, despite all warnings and advice. The content on these pages is in active use by our new site. Thus to prevent duplicate content penalties we have put a noindex in our robots.txt. However off course the pages are currently visible in the SERP's. What's the best way of dealing with this? I did not find related questions although I think this is a mistake that is often made. I add microdata but why Google don't show it in SERP?
Site is: http://www.lightinthebox.com/, I've already added microdata for all product pages a month ago. And I used google Rich Snippets Testing Tool which shows me everything is all right. Like: http://www.lightinthebox.com/ouku-horizon-3g-android-smart-phone-with-3-5-inch-capacitive-touchscreen-800mhz-wifi-gps_p225435.html But Google just don't show the Rich Snippets in SERP. Blocking URL's with specific parameters from Googlebot
Hi, I've discovered that Googlebot's are voting on products listed on our website and as a result are creating negative ratings by placing votes from 1 to 5 for every product. The voting function is handled using Javascript, as shown below, and the script prevents multiple votes so most products end up with a vote of 1, which translates to "poor". How do I go about using robots.txt to block a URL with specific parameters only? I'm worried that I might end up blocking the whole product listing, which would result in de-listing from Google and the loss of many highly ranked pages. Slashes In Url's
If your cms has created two urls for the same piece of content that look like the following, www.domianname.com/stores and www.domianname.com/stores/, will this be seen as duplicate content by google? Your tools seem to pick it up as errors. Does one of the urls need 301 to the other to clear this up, or is it not a major problem? Thanks.
