Google Places Landing Page: Homepage or City-Specific?
-
What should you put in the “Website” field of your Google Places page: the URL of your homepage, or of one of your location pages?
-
Hi Alexander,
For multi-location businesses (that is to say, businesses with more than one, staffed physical office) it's generally considered a best practice to link to the location landing page on the website, rather than the homepage, because your Google+ Local page is then pointing users and bots right to a page that matches the NAP on the business listing. This practice may also lower the risk of merging happening, because Google's bots are easily able to see that everything matches on the designated page, rather than leaving them to scour around the website trying to pick the right location out of a handful of them.

and its good to do for users...

It comes down to SEO or Users, the article points this out
"On the one hand, the homepage URL (AKA root domain) usually has the most page-authority – from any links the site has earned. Most of your links probably point there." - SEO
"On the other hand, a location-specific page by definition does a better job of “targeting” (I hate that word) the city you’re in. You’re talking about one city rather than several." - Users
Depends on what you want best, arguments for both really.

I found different opinion here - http://www.localvisibilitysystem.com/2014/05/13/your-google-places-landing-page-homepage-or-city-specific/
-
If you have a city specific page with all of the products and services available in the city I would put the City URL in place, however if the locations page doesn't have much relevant information on what's available at that location then Homepage may be preferable.
On any SEO, you have to see your site from the users point of view, because that's exactly how Google views you!
-
The one that's most relevant for that Google places. E.g if a user finds the your Google listing for a city they may want to visit the corresponding city page.
End of the day thought its preference, what would benefit the user the most ?

Google Search Analytics How to Get Search Keywords for a Page?
How do I get the keywords coming into a page on the new Google Webmaster Tools Search Analytics? Used to be there in the old version. You would just view your most popular urls and when you expanded the urls you would see the terms driving the traffic. How do I see the most popular keyword queries for a given page in the new tool? Alternatively can I still use the old tool somehow?

Google authorship page versus posrt
I have a wordpress.com blog and have recently set up google authorship (at least I think I have). If I add a new post what happens to the old post in terms of authorship? Is the solution opening a new page for each article? If so does the contribution link in google+ pick up all pages if you only have home link? many thanks

Problem with Google reading https homepage?
Hi Moz Community, In July, we changed our homepage to https via a 301 redirect from http (the only page on our site with https). Our homepage receives an A grade in the ‘On Page Grader’ by Moz for our desired keyword. We have increased our backlink efforts directly to our homepage since we switched to the SSL homepage. However, we still have not increased in search ranking for our specific keyword. Is there something we could have missed when doing the 301 redirect (submitting a new sitemap, changing rotbots.txt files, or anything else??) that has resulted in Google not correctly accessing the https version? (the https page has been indexed by Google). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to make Google forget my pages ?
Hello all ! I've decided to delete many pages from my website wich had poor content. I've made a php 301 redirect from all these old pages to a unique page (not the home page, a deep page). My problem is that this modification has been made a week ago and my position in the SERPs have crashed down... What can I do ? I believe that I'll get up again when Google will see that these pages don't exist anymore but it could take a long time 😞 (these page are in the Google cache with a date older than my modification's date) I've read somewhere that I should put a link to the destination page (where old pages are 301 redirected) but I don't understand how it could help... Can someone help me ? Tell me what I've done wrong... These pages were very poor and I've deleted them in order to boost the global quality of my site... It should help me in the SERPs, not penalize me...

Tool to calculate the number of pages in Google's index?
When working with a very large site, are there any tools that will help you calculate the number of links in the Google index? I know you can use site:www.domain.com to see all the links indexed for a particular url. But what if you want to see the number of pages indexed for 100 different subdirectories (i.e. www.domain.com/a, www.domain.com/b)? is there a tool to help automate the process of finding the number of pages from each subdirectory in Google's index?

Multiple Google Places Listings?
Hi everyone. While I have read answers regarding this on Mike Blumenthal's blog, I have not been able to get an exact clarification on having multiple Google Places listings. According to Mike Blumethal, Google accepts multiple listings in the Places area for specific industries. e.g. One listing for a Dental office, one listing for EACH dentist. This could include a separate website for each. If this is the case, how far away are we from having one maxed out business owning muiiple positions in the local listing space in the search engines. specifically Google? I would love a good explanation of what is and isn't allowed to have multiple listings.
