Are Duplicate Bio's Duplicate Content?
-
I'm wondering if I need to go through all the various bio's our firm has on all the various legal directory and client review sites to make sure they have unique bio's? I really, really don't want to do that, but if they are going to flagged as duplicate content, I will. I'm hoping sites like "findlaw," "avvo," etc, have some built in rel:cannonical or something that says these bio's aren't to be seen as unique content and therefore conflict with what's on our site. Anybody know?
Just to clarify, any of the sties that have asked for unique content/bio/about us, I have complied with that. However, a lot don't specifically state it has to be unique, so I've just copy and pasted from our site in those cases.
Thanks,
Ruben

Yeah, it was a little paranoid, but I had to make sure. Thanks everyone! I appreciate it.

Wow. We all agree. If you are truly paranoid and want to rest easy, you could write a few different versions. If your firm has about 50 partners, that could be tedious and not the best use of your time. But I would say you're 99.9999% okay for now.

As long as you don't have a novel in your bio that have been copied/pasted throughout, I wouldn't worry about it too much. As Prestashop said, the unique content within each site will most likely cause the crawlers to consider each one unique. However, if its more a resume rather than a bio, I'd play it safe and reword it for each.

I personally would not worry about it. The content on the other sites will dilute the bio content enough that everything should be fine. Plus with a bio you want consistency.

Should bio information be consistent?
I write a blog and at the bottom I have a little bio area, see this screenshot http://screencast.com/t/KG9ghNdRlnO What I am wondering is should I keep this consistent from post to post? Or should I vary them? Is there any benefit in either? Also when I guest post on other peoples blogs should I use the same, or another bio?

Someone wants to syndicate my content but I'm afraid
I GOT THE FOLLOWING EMAIL: Hi, I visited your site and would like to connect regarding nSphere syndicating your content into our search platform. We are interested in syndicating your content into our network. There’s no cost for this, we ask you to place a module on your site that reads your content and syndicates it into our network of millions of users. You only need to place a simple JavaScript code on your site. I have the code, but I would like to speak or email with you first. This module acts as search tool for your users as well. Can you email me or send me your number and a good day/time to connect? Thank you in advance.

Director of Media Integration I'M AFRAID OF DUPLICATE CONTENT. SHOULD I JUST IGNORE THIS; IS IT SPAM; OR COULD THIS BE AN OPPORTUNITY? I'M THINKING I SHOULD BE SUSPICIOUS OF THE FACT THAT HE DIDN'T EVEN PROVIDE A URL.0 -
Who gets credit for content
Does it really matter if somebody takes your content changes it slightly and republishes it? This is my original article on history of house paints which was also published on ezine in Feb. and from google alerts I discovered this page http://www.franklinpainting.com/blog/home/a-brief-history-of-house-painting/ a minimally modified version. It is not easy to create content so these folks just copied and made a blog post. Their are now many versions of this on the web..who wins?
