Link value from high authority domains vs low authority domains. How big is the difference?
-
Hi Guys.
Could you send me in the direction of some quality information on link value. i.e) How much 'link juice' do you get from high authority domains vs low authority domains.
Also, I understand the Moz value for DA is logarithmic, not linear. Does this also mean that a link from a site with a really high DA would be exponentially higher value than a site with a low DA. You know....like orders of magnitude better?
Cheers in advance, I love you guys
Isaac.

Anytime!

That DID help. I had know idea that traffic was so important!
Thank you

That's exactly right Isaac. With the logarithmic weighting of Domain Authority and Page Authority, links from higher value sites and pages carry more weight than those with lower scores. It sounds like you've covered the basics as seen here: http://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority
The precise amount of link juice varies due to several factors, but in general you should see an increase in rankings and referral traffic when linked to by a high DA/PA site versus a low one.

This is one of my favorite SEO topics. Link value is determined by 2 things (with a bunch of other small things as well, but two major things), traffic and the authority of the site directing traffic to your site.
So, think of the site's DA as its numeric reputation. Obviously the higher the DA, the more reputable and trustworthy the source, in most cases. I have come across pay day loan sites with DA of 70+, but the general atmosphere of the site was extremely spammy. The value of a link with a DA of 80 is far better than having 10 links to sites with DA of 8. The same number, but diluted value and obviously less reputable.
The link juice is generally passed through traffic, which is why links with images and videos that encourage a click are more valuable than just text at the bottom of a page buried in content. If you have a video on a page, above the fold, from Vimeo or YouTube, that would be considered an amazing link, because it will have a high CTR, drive traffic and is from an extremely reputable source. Link building is not about the quantity as much as it is the quality of the link. This is why content linking is important. Granted, that can't be your only form of back linking, it almost insures you will have relevant links to sources that can generate traffic to your site.
You back links are the highways and byways between Google and your Site. They show the engines that you hang out in good neighborhoods and you aren't trying to manipulate your site's value by creating "short cuts" through dark alleys with less reputable company.
Hope that helps.

Should we get link from dated page with high PA/DA?
We have an unlinked mention on a page that has dated content about an old event but the page and site have a good PA and DA score. Is it worth it to go for the link? Thanks.

Does a nofollow link from a high DA site count towards trust?
I've been checking out competitors through the 'link intersect function in my Moz account. Many have got nofollow links from high DA websites. I understand that nofollow links do not count count as a backlink, but will they add towards the trust factor?

Value of Outbound Links
I have read through the information on Link Building and I understand the importance of Inbound Links. Turning it on it head, how useful is it to provide outbound links on my web pages? And, do links from domains with higher domain authority get weighted higher? I have thousands of pages that I could add new articles to which I think would add value, but I want to know whether it will help for SEO.

Content Strategy - High Value on Lots of Sites vs. High Value on One Site
Good afternoon Mozzers. I have a discussion based question and I'd be interested to know your thoughts. I currently implement a content strategy where we create a series of high value How-to written articles, relevant to our audience and then work at getting them placed on multiple high value websites. I have just been offered an opportunity with a PR6 domain to create a similar series of content but place it all on their site with links back to ours through a dedicated section. So my question is would I gain more value from small amounts of great content in lots of places vs. a lot of great content in on place? Effectively 1 link from 20 sites vs. 20 links from 1 site.

Link Acquisition - PA vs PR
I am wondering if someone can please advise on link acquisition. I have the opportunity to acquire a few good backlinks that will bring both traffic and some potential link juice. All things aside, if we are strictly comparing Page Authority with Google PageRank which will provide the most benefit to my SERP ranking? 1. Google PageRank 4 and Page Authority of 25 or 2. Google PageRank 2 and Page Authority of 35 We are strictly talking about SERPs!

Different Link Titles Linking to the same page
So I'm doing a lot of link building but my question is how do search engines treat different link titles to the same page. For example, my main page is www.musillawfirm.com If I have 20 links from 20 sites linking to it as Melbourne FL DUI Lawyer and 20 more linking as Melbourne FL immigration Lawyer and More linking as Cocoa FL DUI lawyer etc... what happens? Do the search engines just rank me higher for all the terms or would it be better to always just link to separate landing pages? Thanks in advance
