How Do I Troubleshoot 804 HTTPS Crawl Error?
-
In my Moz crawl report I get:
Crawl Error
Moz encountered an error on one or more pages on your site
Error Code 804: HTTPS (SSL) Error EncounteredThe Moz Help Section only says:
804 HTTPS (SSL) error
804 errors result from a site with misconfigured SSL software. If Moz's crawlers cannot correctly interpret an SSL response for a home page, the crawl ends immediately.
My site is publicly accessible on https -
And I'm not seeing any issues with my certificate.
Can anyone help me out? What steps can I take to troubleshoot this error? If SSL is misconfigured, how do I configure it properly?

@nateknox & @rachel.cachel: This question is more than 1 yr old - apart from the original poster & the people who replied nobody is seeing the questions you ask. If you need help - post a new question in the Q&A

I'm having this same issue on a SquareSpace site. With issues I've seen from SS in the past, like blocking SEMRush, I wouldn't be surprised if it's them instead of a Moz thing.
Has anyone else had issues with this & squarespace or is that just a bad idea? -
Is this still an issue for anyone else?
We keep getting it in our Moz account for our website https://www.collegeatlas.org. Unsure of how to troubleshoot it because I don't know what the issue is. It seems that Google or Yahoo have a problem getting us indexed.

You might want to check this: https://moz.com/community/q/moz-pro-our-web-crawler-and-sites-that-use-sni (if this would be the cause of the 804 error)

Hi,
What did they answer on you this 804 Error?
Just got the error on my crawl and wondering what I should do about it.
Thanks!

Dirk,
Thank you! I reached out to Moz support directly.

Hi,
I did a test crawl of your site with Screaming Frog & didn't find anything special. Sampling a few pages of your site didn't reveal anything really specific regarding to the SSL certificate. I would try to contact Moz support directly (http://moz.com/about/contact). They should be able to give you some more info on the error you encounter.
Sorry that I can't offer more help
rgds,
Dirk

Moz bot has trouble crawling Angular JS - I believe it's seeing the SPA (Single Page Application) before Universal. Anyone else have this issue? What is the fix?
The Moz bot user agent detection settings are able to read Universal, but the Single Page Application (SPA) version partially loads on the website before Universal. Because of this, Moz (and possibly search engines) think we have massive duplicate content issues. For example, the crawl report said a particular product page (which has about 1,000 words) has 33,000 words and has duplicate content with over 300 other pages. This makes me believe it's only picking up the SPA version. Has anyone come across this, and what would be the fix?

Canonical in Moz crawl report
I'm wondering if the moz bot is seeing my rel="canonical" on my pages. There are 2 notices that are bothering me: Overly Dynamic URL Rel Canonical Overly Dynamic URL - This notice is being generated by urls with query strings. On the main page I have the rel="canonical" tag in the header. So every page with the query string has the canonical tag that points to the page that should be indexed. So my question...Why the notice? Isn't this being handled properly with the canonical tag? I know I can use my robots.txt or the tool in Google search console but is it really necessary when I have the canonical on every page? Here is one of the links that has the "Overly Dynamic URL" notice, as you can see the the canonical in the header points to the page without the query string: https://www.vistex.com/services/training/traditional-classroom/registration-form/?values=true&course-title=DMP101 – Data Maintenance Pricing – Business Processes&date=March 14, 2016 Rel Canonical - Every page in my report has this notice "Using rel=canonical suggests to search engines which URL should be seen as canonical". I'm using the rel="canonical" tag on all of my pages by default. Is the report suggesting that I don't do this? Or is it suggesting that I should? Again...why the notice?

Crawl Diagnostics: How many pages (deep) will it crawl for dup content
Does anyone know how deep the crawl diagnostics will crawl when searching for dup content? Will it crawl the entire site, or will it only crawl "x" amount of pages? Thanks!

500 errors showing up differently on moz and google wmt
Lately, I've been having the issue of a large increase in 500 errors. These errors seem to be intermittent, in other words, Google and Moz are showing that I have server 500 errors for many pages but, when I actually check the links, everything's fine. I've run tests to see if there is any virus on the server or if I have any corrupt files and as far as I can tell, there are none. I'm left with the possibility that maybe one of my plugins is causing this issue (I'm built on top of Wordpress). Moz is showing that I had nearly five hundred 500 server errors on the 12th or the 11th. On the other hand, Google shows that on the 13th I had 179 server errors and then an additional 200 for the 15th. I'm assuming Google is slow to find or report these things? I would like to know which is more reliable so that I can try to figure out which of these plugins may be causing the problem, if any or if I'm investigating this the wrong way, I'd love to have more suggestions. Thanks in advance! Sorry, the url is http://www.heartspm.com if you'd like to take a look.

Moz Crawl Test Trying to Crawl Contact Form Submit Button Location?
Moz Crawl Test for some reason is trying to Crawl a contact form Widget Submit Location. My obvious guess is that obviously the crawl cannot submit to the required fields…..I believe this because they're only kicking back these errors on the pages I have a contact form widget on. http://crawfordspest.com/pest-control/crawfords@crawfordspest.com 1412553693 404 : Received 404 (Not Found) error response for page. Error attempting to request page; see title for details. 404

Error attempting to request page; see title for details. 404 Can you shed any insight to this? I'm a bit worried that I'll have to complete gut the contact form which was one of the major requests my client requested. Or in a worse scenario make all fields not required. It would let so much spam in. I have never seem anything like this at all. But I've learned a lot from Moz, and with major errors like 404 damage Domain Authority greatly. I've fixed 404 issues with newly acquired clients existing sites and tracked through Moz and the domain authority flies up once these errors are fixed. Along with fixing what Webmaster Tools through Google reports back. ..... Let me know if you have any expertise on this matter.0 -

Since the revised website was launched, I can't find the "Crawl Test" function showing Titles and Descriptions of other websites. Anyone know where that link is located?
MOZ can "crawl" any website and show information like Title, Description, etc.....Can't find that link.
