Site Link Issues

For several search terms I get site links for the page http://www.waikoloavacationrentals.com/kolea-rentals/kolea-condos/
It makes sense that that page be a site link as it is one of my most used pages, but the problem is google gave it the site link "Kolea 10A". I am having 0 luck making any sense of why that was chosen. It should be something like "Kolea Condos" or something of that nature.
Does anyone have any thoughts on where google is coming up with this?

That is actually a good thought, but Kolea 10A is a little below average in traffic compared to the others.

Do you know how many clicks, visits, or bookings the Kolea 10A link has versus other bedroom villas on the page? maybe that could be a factor.

Yeah, I'm honestly not seeing much rhyme nor reason to that. There are plenty of other properties listed on the page. Your header structure is slightly odd, but your title tag and other meta data seem fine. I'm not sure why Google has grabbed "Kolea 10A". It could be due to some inbound anchor text (in links from other sites), but it would take quite a few, I'm guessing (one or two links is going to lead to Google overruling the title).
The queries I'm finding it on have nothing to do with "Kolea 10A", so I don't think this is query-dependent. Unfortunately, much like with title rewrites, Google hasn't given us any control over the process.
I'm noticing that the other two links I see are "Kolea Map" and "Kolea Beach Club", neither of which are coming from the page titles. They seem to be coming from internal links, such as on this page:
http://www.waikoloavacationrentals.com/kolea-rentals/
I wonder if there's an internal link with the specific property for some reason, or possibly inbound links or bad sitemap data? Not sure how to circumvent that other than possibly give the page a shorter title that Google is more likely to use. You can sometimes use the NOODP tag to prevent some rewrites, but that tends to be a crap-shoot (it's risk-free, but it rarely works).

I use terms like "Kolea Rentals". The site link is good, but just not the term they chose.

What search query are you using to get those site-links? They can be query-dependent. As others have said, you don't really have much control other than to demote them. Google will rewrite site-links just like they'll rewrite titles. In some cases, it's because they feel the title is a poor match to the query or that the title is long or a little spammy, but that's not always the case. Sometimes, the rewrites can feel more than a little arbitrary.

Well that is mentioned on the page 3 times, so Google is clearly liking it for some reason. As to why, that is something of a mystery.

To be honest, I am not looking for anything particular. Kolea Rentals or Kolea Condos would make the most sense. Kolea 10A makes 0 sense and I can not see from any of the code where they would have generated that from.Some of it is just curiosity as to how google came up with that.

What would you prefer the sitelink to say? It isn't an easy job to get them changed because we have so little control over it, but there are best practice changes you can do, as Rob has already said.

The page is a great site link, but the text used does not correctly describe the page. I am not aware of anything done on the page that would make Google think it should be "Kolea 10A".

Hi Rob,
I assume you are aware of that Google only show sitelinks for results when they think that 'll be useful to the user.
If you don't want to show "Kolea 10A" as sitelink you can demote them. As far as best practice is concern Google said
"There are best practices you can follow, however, to improve the quality of your sitelinks. For example, for your site's internal links, make sure you use anchor text and
alttext that's informative, compact, and avoids repetition."Thanks

I have 2 E-commerce sites - Can i cross link?
Good Morning Everyone, I have 2 e-commerce websites that are similar and sell the same products. The content (text/descriptions/titles) is different so the content is not duplicate. SITE A has a ton of blog posts with highly relevant information and we frequently update the blog with posts about the types of products we carry and how it can help people in their daily lives... SITE B has no blog posts, but the content on the blog from SITE A is extremely relevant and helpful to anyone using SITE B. My question is, do you think it is frowned upon if i were to add links on SITE B that point to specific posts on SITE A... For example, if you are browsing a category page on SITE B, i was thinking of adding links on the bottom that would say "For More Information, Please Check Out These Posts on our Blog" www.sitea.com/blog/relevantinfo1 www.sitea.com/blog/relevantinfo2 www.sitea.com/blog/relevantinfo3 I think this would seriously help our browsers and potential customers get all of the information that they need, but what do you think Google would think about this cross-linking and if it violates their guidelines? Pagination Issue
Hello Community, We have a pagination issue on a set of pages : http://homengo.com/s/location/ http://homengo.com/s/location/?page=1 and so on ( ?page=2, ?page=3, ...). As you can see in the source code the pagination rel and prev are there. First question : does moz crawler know and recognize pagination ? Second question : if yes then do you know what could be wrong with pagination on these pages ? Thanks

Site verification in WMT
Hello all, I have a site and I want to set a preferred domain but when I do it says I need to verify my site but it gives me no ideas how to do that. I know that normally you have to do it when you set the account up but I had an analytics account for this domain first then just logged on with those details and I was in with no verification process. Link to Articles for news sites in Google SERPs
I'm trying to figure out why when I search for "international news" or "world news", for example, some sites in the SERPs have links to news articles, while others don't. For "international news", result of Fox News and New York Times have links to articles, while CNN (the top result), only have sitelinks. I would appreciate any theories on why this happens. Thanks.

Redirect from old wordpress site to new php site? Best approach
Hi I have two websites one legacy site done in wordpress the other in php. However I would like to merge the two together and remove the wordpress site. However it has a good link profile and the pages rank well. What is the best approach to do a 301 redirect from the old site with all its pages pointing to the homepage of the new site? Pros & Cons of deindexing a site prior to launch of a new site on the same domain.
If you were launching a new website to completely replace an older existing site on the same domain, would there be any value in temporarily deindexing the old site prior to launching the new site? Both have roughly 3000 pages, will launch on the same domain but have a completely new url structure and much better optimized for the web. Many high ranking pages will be redirected with 301 to the corresponding new page. I believe the hypothesis is this would eliminate a mix of old & new pages from sharing space in the serps and the crawlers are more likely to index more of the new site initially. I don't believe this is a great strategy, on the other hand I see some merit to the arguments for it.

Issue with Joomla Site not showing in SERP's
Site: simpsonelectricnc dot com I'm working on a Joomla website for a local business that isn't ranking at all for any relevant keyword - including the business name. The site is only about six months old and has relatively few links. I realize it takes time to compete for even low-volume keywords, but I think something else may be preventing the site from showing up. The site is not blocked by Robots.txt (which includes a valid reference to the sitemap)

There is no duplicate content issue, the .htaccess is redirecting all non-www traffic to www version
Every page has a unique title and H1 tag.
The URL's are search-engine friendly (not dynamic either)
XML sitemap is live and submitted to Google WM Tools. Google shows that it is indexing about 70% of the submitted URL's. The site has essentially no domain authority (0.02) according to Moz - I'm assuming this is due to lack of links and short life on the web.
Until today, 98% of the pages had identical meta descriptions. Again, I realize six months is not an eternity - but the site will not even show up for "business name + city,state" searches in Google. In fact, the only way I've seen it in organic results is to search for the exact URL. I would greatly appreciate any help.0
