Outside Top 10 Even though - Higher Domain/Page Authority/Higher On Page Grade
-
Hi,
Note: this is for Australian search results - for people in Perth.
The website is: http://thedj.com.auI am trying to optimise for the keyword 'perth wedding dj', but also 'wedding dj perth' and for some reason my website isn't even in the top 10 results.
Here is what's weird though:
- My on-page grade with the On-Page Grader for the keyword 'wedding DJ perth' is an 'A' for http://thedj.com.au (http://awesomescreenshot.com/0135135hca)
- When checking the Keyword Difficulty in the Google Australia search enginge for 'wedding DJ perth' - there are 4 results which have a lower domain authority than 15 (in fact one result has a domain authority of 1) - http://awesomescreenshot.com/03f5134zd1
- http://thedj.com.au has a Domain Authority of 23/100 and a Page Authority of 34/100. (http://awesomescreenshot.com/0bb5134tb8)
So seeing as the page has gotten an A for on-page optimisation for the keyword 'wedding DJ Perth' and has a higher domain authority then many results in the top 10... why isn't it in the Top 10?!
Bonus Question:
Why is DJ Avi showing up at the top of search results (Local listing) depsite the fact that:
a) He has no website to link to
b) No reviews for his listing
c) No keywords that I can see (other than the fact that he's a DJ)

Andy sums it up perfectly.
It is very easy to make any "SEO checker" give you top grades for a page. Likewise it is very easy to manipulate individual metrics to be higher. For instance, I could write 2000 words of useless content on wedding DJ's in perth, insert a few keywords in the right places, make sure my taggings is correct and i have the right number of tags and title text etc... Moz gives me an A for optimisation... but my content is crap.
If you have ticked all the boxes for on page optimisation (if you have more than 1 h1 tag like a previous poster said then you need to look at this at start with the basic step) then its time to look into what andy suggests, the quality of your content, your website trust and hunt down that reason.

No probs you have a few H1's I think I saw 7... teh first listed is:- "Over 25 Years Providing Entertainment Solutions For Perth Weddings".
http://www.writingforseo.org/how-many-h1-tags-can-you-have-on-a-page/
I was trying to suggest that maybe wedding is not the word to lead with. It is better take a beach head and move up from there.
Go get em.

Hi John,
I'm not looking to optimise my website for the keyword 'wedding', that would be too hard - I am instead optimising it for the keyword phrase 'wedding DJ perth' (this is in my title tag).
I have an h1 tag on the front page that says 'Wedding DJ in Perth - Kai Werner' (notice it has the word 'DJ').
Best,
Kosta -
Andy is correct.
There are a few more aspects you may consider tweaking. Wedding is a highly sought after keyword. So I would consider re-phrasing your title tag. Not the number 1 word. Also your H1 does not assist as it does not mention the word DJ. I have only looked at these aspects and there is room for improvement on both.
Those phrases really help google match up a searchers intent. There are plenty of articles on title tags and H1's and how to shape them.
Good luck.

Hi Kosta,
You have to understand that all metrics that belong to MOZ, will have no bearing on search results that you see in Google. Just because a site has a higher DA / PA or features well in the page grader, is just MOZ telling you, based on what they know, how you are doing. It gives you a very good grounding into changes on your page that should be made, but this is far from the final stroke in being listed.
You will find that so many other aspects will be coming in to play, such as content, brand / site trust, use of keywords, etc. Then you also have to consider why Google isn't favouring your site as much - any penalties, poor backlinks, poor content, poor trust, etc.
You also have to look at the other sites that are competing for his phrase and understand what they are doing and why they are featuring above you as well.
Not an easy one to just say "do this" because I doubt very much it is just one aspect.

Why Would My Page Have a Higher PA and DA, Links & On-Page Grade & Still Not Rank?
The Search Term is "Alcohol Ink" and our client has a better page authority, domain authority, links to the page, and on-page grade than those in the SERP for spaces 5-10 and we're not even ranked in the top 51+ according to Moz's tracker. The only difference I can see is that our URL doesn't use the exact text like some of the 5-10 do. However, regardless of this, our on-page grade is significantly higher than the rest of them. The one thing I found was that there were two links to the page (that we never asked for) that had a spam score in the low 20's and another in the low 30's. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to maybe get around this? Certainly, a content campaign and linking campaign around this could also help but I'm kind of scratching my head. The client is reputable, with a solid domain age and well recognized in the space so it's not like it's a noob trying to get in out of nowhere.

Highly ranked pages to new domain?
Hi everyone! We are ranked #1 for about 30 product pages at www.oldsite.com/product1 and we are wanting to move about 30 of those pages to a new site www.newsite.com/product1 (new domain and hosting - which we own). What is the best way to do this? I'm confused if you recreate those pages on the new domain vs. ftp move them, 301 re-directs, etc. Looking for the things we must do and the sequence to do it all, etc. Thanks so much!

Page Authority inherited by domain
Hi there, We (blog.fust.ch) created our blog at the same time as (blog.interdiscount.ch). We're both blogs of big brands in switzerland. But there is one big different. The interdiscount blog ranks much better than we do. But they not even optimize the blog for standard SEO points. Now i found the reason i guess. They get the complete page authority of the brand interdiscount.ch inherited. How is that possible, because we don't..? (Screens in attachment) Best regards Sandro K7zxz ndODO

Should I Re-direct Domains to Internal Pages on Money Site
I have an ecommerce site that is fully built out with thousands of products. I own many industry related domains for the products that i sell. Many of these domains are sitting unused. I started to think that it would beneficial if i 301 redirect (at the registrar level) these domains to their SPECIFIC subcategories on my main money site. For example, i sell sporting goods and my main website is buysportinggoods.com I also own the following domains: basketballoutlet.com & baseballequipmentstore.com & footballpads.com Would it be wise or foolish (and potentially cause a Google penalty) if i did the following: Point basketballoutlet.com to buysportinggoods.com/basketballs Point baseballequipmentstore.com to buysportinggoods.com/baseball Point footballpads.com to buysportinggoods.com/football Please let me know your thoughts or experiences with similar situations. Thanks!

Guest Blogging Results - domain authority vs. page authority -
I have been guest blogging on various websites. The web pages that display my guest posts have zero page authority but a great domain authority of 60/100 or more. 2 links I developed are noted below as examples: http://www.evancarmichael.com/Small-Business-Consulting/8101/How-To-Hire-Extraordinary-Salespeople.html https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/4195/blog_posts/28772-4-essentials-for-rental-property-owners Am I wasting my time with this?

Max # of Products / Links per Page on E-Commerce Site
We are getting ready to re-launch our e-commerce site and are trying to decide how many products to list per category page. Some of of our category pages have upwards of 100 products. While I'd love to list ALL the products on the root category page (to reduce hassle for customer, to index more products on a higher PR page), I'm a little worried about having it be too long, and containing too many on-page links. Would love some guidance on: Maximum number of internal links on a page If Google frowns on really long category pages Anything else I should be considering when making this decision Thanks for your input!
