You need to have a trustworthy individual professional or an agency provide you a proper SEO audit to know the best way to move forward, else you run into similar problems.

As I mentioned in reply to Alan, I did in fact pay for a service, which clearly in hind sight was a mistake.
What would you suggest now?
Thank you for your input on this issue!

Before I new better, I did in fact pay a service.
What would be a logical next step in order to manage this issue?
Thank you very much for your input!

Digging a bit further than James, I've come across a number of questionable inbound links, that appear to be out there as though someone with bad SEO methods, or automated link building software got you. Did you ever pay for, or use a site "submission" tool, or pay an SEO company for SEO?
In addition to way too many questionable links from hbmag, you've got links from really questionable sites like

Hi,
What is the URL where the traffic is coming from,
I did some analysis on your website and noticed you seem to have a few links built from:
hbmag.com - this website does not seem related to your niche, was it a guest post or something?
Kind Regards,
James.

Is there an efficient way to block/filter referral spam in Google Analytics for a large network of websites?
Hello, everyone - I'm looking for guidance on how to block or filter referral spam in Google Analytics. But I'm needing to block for an entire network of Wordpress websites. We have two networks which total over 2,500 websites. We are currently blocking sites we find out about via htaccess. This works, but only after we see we are getting hit with the spam. Updating 2,500+ Google Analytics accounts with filtering is not an ideal option due to the time factor and the fact that new bots coming out almost daily. We can continue the htaccess method, but does anyone have any other ideas for blocking referral spam for a large network of sites? These are the other ideas we have. 1. Blocking all traffic from Russia and China based up subnets. We know many will still get through, but it should block 50% of it, we hope.

2. Moving sites to Google Tag manager. This is a huge tasks but we have seen that sites using Tag Manager are not effected, at least for now. Other ideas are appreciated!0 -

Google Analytics tracking code for completely new website
Hello! I use Google Analytics to monitor our company's websites. In the coming weeks we will roll out a brand new website for one of our brands to replace its current site. The domain name will remain the same. My question is, should I use the same tracking code that's been used on the existing site for the new site, or is there a benefit to creating a new tracking code? Thanks in advance!

Website optimizer troubles
First, we would love to use the new Google Experiements intergrated into analytics but its not rolled out to us. We tried to get it expideted roll out to us but no luck... So we are stuck with a soon to be discontinued Website optimzer. I can't get past the first step however, I get the follow error: "The original page and the conversion page URLs must share the same domain.", see attached. The convertoin page is on a subdomain. There is quite a bit of help online about this. You need to tweak the script code. There is nothing about how to get past this page though. It simply says its a on a different domain (which its not) and won't let me go any further... Thanks! Website%20Optimizer.jpg

Dramatic Increase in referrals from own website
The past few weeks I've been wracking my brain to figure out why on earth my branded searches could be dropping off at 30-40%. Well today, I realize I've had a dramatic increase in referrals from my own site (the non www verison). I'm talking 150 in March of last year to 5k in March of this year drastic. My 301 redirects haven't changed as far as I know -- I've had them set to redirect from the non www. to the www. for at least a year or two. I'm assuming visitors from search engines are somehow getting the non www version and the redirect is attributing the traffic to referrals instead of search. The drop in search traffic and the increase in referral traffic fall on the same day. Does that sound right/possible? If so, how do I fix this? My traffic stats for two clients are all screwy because of this. I want to make sure whatever solution I implement won't hurt my search traffic numbers any more 🙂 Has anyone else seen this happen recently? I could imagine an anomaly with one site but I find it odd that it could be two client sites. I still have some others to check. Thanks in advance! Leslie

What should I expect after completely redoing a website?
Hello Forum, My team and I have completely redone an eCommerce website, which offers new SEO-friendly URLs. We have also taken care to optimize our product and category pages for specific keywords, so as to keep our regular traffic and increase the long-tail. In the old un-optimized website, many of its Google search results simply took users to the homepage, thus the homepage has a lot of external link juice. Our new site is optimized so that users are taken to the page most relevant to their query. For example (we are a yoga site), with the old site a search for "yoga bolsters" would take visitors to the homepage. Now the search results take the users to the yoga bolster page. These new pages don't have the amount of external links as the new site and I've noticed a decrease in our site's average rank in Google Webmaster Tools 1.Given our new site with its new URLs, should this increase be expected? (we have implemented 301 redirects from the old site to the new) 2. What steps would you take to ensure you keep your rankings with the new site? Are they any special tools you recommend? 3. What the best way to increase the ones that have dropped? Page optimization? Link building? Both?
