Duplicate Content for Non-SEO Purposes

Duplicate Content for Non-SEO Purposes
There are a few layers to this question, but at the most basic level the question is...
-Will having the same article (in the form of archived e-newsletter issues) on multiple different websites' newsletter archives HURT those sites?
I'm fairly sure it won't HELP any of them in terms of SEO, but will having these back issues of their e-newsletters archived on their websites get them penalized? For the purpose of this question, these are not clients we are doing SEO for, just hosting and their e-newsletters. So it's fine if the archives provide no SEO benefit, we just don't want to leave them up if they will become LIABILITIES for the websites.
-If having the same article in archived issues of e-newsletters on multiple different websites WOULD be harmful, would moving these archives to a sub-domain change anything or would it be best to simply take the archives down altogether?
-Alternately, would spinning these articles make any difference in whether or not these sites get penalized?
-Lastly, would spinning make the articles usable for archived e-newsletters for clients that ARE signed on for SEO services?
I have a hunch about this, but I'd love to hear your expert opinions. Thanks!

Jordan is right, I don't recommend spinning any of the content, it generally doesn't turn out well for users, and tends to make it 'unreadable'.
Your best bet here is to think of Search and Email as two separate things. If you're going to use the content in multiple newsletters and reach other audiences (the same person won't read it twice), then that's perfectly fine. However, if you're going to allow ANY of it to get indexed by the search engines, then I would only allow one copy to get indexed. You can archive the other copies, but just make sure that you don't allow indexing of those copies.
Duplicate Content isn't generally thought of as 'penalty', it's more about the fact that only the first crawled version gets indexed, and the others generally don't.

First off I would not recommend spinning any of the articles at all. That will appear deceptive and very spammy. However, I would look into repurposing existing content for your seo clients rather than spinning existing content. Look at adding something unique to a previous blog post or article instead.
Second as for the archived e-newsletter if it is on multiple sites you are going to run into a duplicate content issue. What you can do if your curious is add your hosting clients website as a moz campaign and crawl it. Then see how many instances of duplicate content you have.
Hope that helps some.

Duplicate Blog Content
Hey Mozzers! I have a client who is a dentist, with multiple offices, and wants to use an identical blog post (including images, alt text, text, tags, everything pretty much) from one of his office's website on his other office's website to save time and mimic the success of the original content for his other office. Everything I've researched says this is a HUGE no-no, but I'd love to hear if anyone else has tried to do something like this and if they were successful in doing so (implementing rel=cannonical or 301?). Also, if he is the owner of both sites and they both receive low traffic will Google even notice? My biggest worry is that if I did post the content on his other site, identically, that it would dilute the visibility of the original post, which has and is continuing to surpass our organic search goals... The main goal though, is to drive traffic to BOTH sites via organic search using the same content. Would love to hear everyone's opinions if this is possible or unrealistic... Thanks! -D

Duplicates from weird domains
My sit is http://www.webdesign.org/, but the other day I found these sites that have duplicates of my original site: <a>http://wordpresswww.webdesign.org/</a><a>http://fdsfsdswww.webdesign.org/</a><a>http://gfdgdfgdfgwordpresswww.webdesign.org/</a><a>http://w54354353w.webdesign.org/</a>http://wojhkhjkhw.webdesign.org/What really freaks me out is that the content on those sites is 100% up to date. Same as on http://www.webdesign.org/. Now here's my question. 1. Since my site http://www.webdesign.org/ is the root domain, I take it that I can somehow disable those sites (subdomains) from my domain 'admin panel' or what not?2. If you can use those subdomains even if you don't own the root domain (http://www.webdesign.org/), it looks that some negative SEO has been done to my site?Which of my assumptions are right? Please help me to figure that out.

I have (an attached) report that shows duplicate content for a blog page and I'm not sure how to resolve the issue. The blog/website is hosted on wordpress.org, maybe it's something to do with having to add categories or tags - can anyone help please? SDtXT.png

Can having similar content on my company's two sites hurt our rankings?
We have a very successful website that has been up for a number of years (www.comellaortho.com). We rank high in the natural rankings for that site. A few months ago, we started seeing patients in another nearby city. I purchased a new domain name, www.dansvilleortho.com, and had our web company duplicate the website under the new domain name. The reality is that the content on these two sites are nearly identical. Some of the pages are different; for example, there are fewer pages on the new site. But the pages that do exist are nearly identical. My question is: Can having similar content on my company's two sites hurt our rankings? Based on what I've read thus far, I believe the answer is "Yes". However, I'm curious how bad this may hurt us. I'm not as worried about the new site (dansvilleortho.com) because our competition in that city is slim to none. But I AM worried about harming the original site/business (comellaortho.com). Which site(s) rankings may be affected by this, and if so, how bad? Thank you.

Blog and Website = 2 different URL's - Is it WORTH to merge content on to one site
Good day Mozzers! A friend of mine recently asked for my help in regards to online marketing. While getting familiar with his online presence, I realized that he has a blog hosted under a completely different URL Main Site = http://pardons.org/ (page rank 4)
Content Development | | vip4service
Blog = http://pardons.wordpress.com/ (page rank 3) What I am battling with is whether or not he should take all of the blog content he has, and merge it on to his main site. It has over 280+ blog posts spanning over a few years, so there is A LOT of content that could benefit his main site. However is it worth it, or should he continue to run everything as 2 different sites? Also, of you suggest moving the content over, what would be the best way to do it in your opinion? He currently has links on his blog TO his main site, so there is a little bit of link juice there, but with a average of 300 views a day, he only get about 10 clicks to his main site from the blog. Thanks a ton for your help!0 -
How to Handle SEO for Daily and Weekly Market Updates
I have a market news and education site focused on the bond market. Each day we have an end of day market wrapup piece. We also have several weekly pieces as well as pieces that come out once a month. My question is how should I handle these from an SEO standpoint? When someone searches for "bond market update" for example I want my latest piece to show up in the results. Similarly when someone searches for "savings bond interest rate forecast" I would also like the report for that month to be the one that they find. Here are two examples of what I am talking about: http://www.learnbonds.com/us-savings-bond-forecast-3272012/ and http://www.learnbonds.com/bond-market-recap-41712/ Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks Dave
