Do you get dinged for Duplicate video content?
-
If a vendor who creates your video posts it on their Vimeo account and I post it on my YouTube account will Google count that as duplicate content?
-
Hello,
Since you are talking video files, Google has a tough time identifying what they are about. The main concern is not the file itself but the textual titles and metadata surrounding the video. First video published with keywords etc. will be featured first, but a Youtube video has a natural bonus given it is Google's domain and Google likes Google.
I would say this is probably a low-concern issue - if you have it on a Youtube channel and have access to a domain, I would incorporate it into an iframe on your site so it gets canonicalized with your domain rather than through a 3rd party video hosting service - this also gives you greater access to SEO options (both on-site and off-site) than video hosting domains do.
Hope this helps and fire any follow up questions my way if you like - I'll help as best I can.
Cheers,
Rob

Wow, I can get a lot of Facebook likes quickly!
I did some testing with Facebook ads and resulting Facebook likes on target pages. And something is wrong! Just after creating the ad, before the ad was approved, I could get many likes on the target page without even seeing any traffic on server logs or google analytics. I documented my tests here. I repeated the tests 6 times, every time I could get tens of likes on the target page within seconds and without any approval of the ad. These pages have little traffic and there's no way these likes could have been natural! Everyone I reported was able to reproduce it, try yourself. A little update. I found others reporting un-expected Likes pouring... But at least they were "running" the ad, so externals to Facebook could have seen it and decided to Like it to later offer "liking" service as reported from this fellow. But in my case the ad was not approved... So... Who can see it beside me and Facebook?

Here is two examples: http://www.facit.com/se/test-renault-megane-sport-tourer-16-dci/ http://www.facit.com/se/test-av-vw-passat-alltrack/ Can anyone help me or explain if there is something I have done wrong? Thanks in advance!

Why is FailBlog allowed to make 2,000 dollars a day posting OTHER PEOPLE's videos?
So if FailBlog makes about 2 grand a day in YouTube revenue for posting other people's videos, then why can't someone just make their own FailBlog? In other words, someone could simply download all of FailBlog's videos, and remove their logo, and publish the videos on youtube as their own. Afterall, FailBlog doesn't own the videos anyway. Neither YouTube nor FailBlog seems keen on vetting videos - to see the rightful owner. Yet they are happy to both profit from videos of ambiguous ownership. Or, even, unambigous ownership. e.g. its obvious failblog doesnt own this media http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNQLmHKlmiE
