      Hi Everyone

I am wondering how Google handles the read more tag in Wordpress. I pasted the link to a blog post on Google and found nothing (domain.com/post#readmore). Then I paste the version without #readmore (domain.com/post) and found that Google indexed the page but with the option to click "read more" to read it. The full blog post is not in their index, just the version asking you to read more.

Is this because Google hasn't gotten to it or is Google ignoring it. I am not sure but ideally I rather have the full blog post indexed, not the read more version.

I am curious to whether this will cause duplicate content issues. What are your experience with this and is it advisable to use an alternate method for read more. Maybe with a Wordpress plugin. Thanks in advance.

Gabriel, the "readmore" URL is going to be the first URL that Google indexes, as that URL is typically on the "main blog page" of your blog. Since you update that page on a regular basis (by adding more posts) and the page has been around for a while, Google monitors that page and then updates it fairly quickly.

It takes more time for the blog post itself to get indexed, and socializing the post (such as Tweeting the URL) will get it indexed faster than just waiting for Google to crawl. There are a lot of factors that Google uses in order to determine indexing speed and pages that they add to the index, though.

Since you're using "read more", though, that is a good thing--generally you won't run into duplicate content issues because only a snippet of the post is on the site's main blog page (and category pages, etc.) and not the full blog post. So, that's a good thing.

Alt Tags on multiple product images

Hi I work on SEO for an ecommerce site and wanted to find out how important it is to optimise all images with alt tags. We have alt tags in place, however have not optimised descriptions for the following example images: Front of cupboard Back of cupboard Side of cupboard etc Is this dangerous for SEO if these images all have the same alt tag? We have thousands of products so it would be a huge job to update these, but if it's crucial for SEO we can work through our priorities. Thank you!

Is it bad to include google Maps in footer?

We have 5 locations and we were thinking about including a map for each location in the footer.  These would be set-up as no-follow links.  They could potentially enhance user experience but it also increases size of footer.  Right now there are just basic links to pages (sitemap, terms, etc), contact info, social links, and contact form.  If we did the maps it would also include link to the individual location pages.  Not sure if we are doing too much in footer or need to just keep it basic. Thanks for the help!

Hey guys! I was looking at adding the H1 tag lower on the page than the H2 tag because I want the top bit to be a call to action. Is this proper practice?

Google cached snapshots and last indexed

My question is I noticed today that the snap shots of my main pages were outdated. About a month. Then I clicked on the "Learn More" link about cahced images and Google says "Google crawls the web and takes snapshots of each page. When you click Cached, you'll see the webpage as it looked when we last indexed it." I know this sounds really dumb, but does that really mean the last time Google indexed that page? So the changes I have made since then have not been taken yet?

Should I let Google index tags?

Should I let Google index tags? Positive? Negative Right now Google index every page, including tags... looks like I am risking to get duplicate content errors? If thats true should I just block /tag in robots.txt Also is it better to have as many pages indexed by google or it's should be as lees as possible and specific to the content as much as possible. Cheers

Using commas in the title tag?

Is there a disadvantage/advantage to using commas to separate words in the title tag. Which will be more effective as a title tag: "keyword1 keyword2 - Brand" OR "keyword1, keyword2 - Brand"?
