Forum Site: Content Value Post Panda

I run a forum website built on Wordpress. We're about two years old. The theme of the site is a directory of attorneys, with each directory listing having its own blog account on our site. Through this platform, we receive 75-80 blog posts now every month of varying quality from our users.
QUESTION: A good number of the blogs published on our site are also published on the attorney's law firm site as well (they're syndicating on our site). Will this hurt our site in light of Panda? A lot of the syndicated content is very well written and insightful.
By contrast, Will non-syndicated but average to below average posts hurt our site?
The authors almost always link back to their firm site.
Would love some feedback on whether we should be happy about the syndicated content or whether we should potentially ban it?

It's great news that you are getting 75 to 80 posts per week with a lot of it being very well written.
Will this hurt your site if the posts link back to a site where a verbatim copy exists? In my opinion you have three risks.... 1) linking to websites that are being heavily manipulated - a bad neighborhood.... .... 2) seeing your copy of the post filtered from the search engines because of duplicate content... and ..... 3) seeing your site or a client site be punished by panda for content farming.
Here is what I would do... 1) Encourage all of your clients to post high quality original content. Preach a strong sermon to them about the value.

Limit the number of links within your site that lead to low quality content or content that is heavily syndicated.

Develop a "library" on your site of very high quality, original, non-syndicated content and strongly encourage your clients to submit items for consideration. Be strict with the rules. However, any article accepted would be featured on your homepage, linked to from one of several highly visible category pages on your site that are featured in your persistent navigation. Turn your content resource into a highly promoted asset. Create a situation where clients will highly desire the premium attention.

Duplicate Content & Tags
I've recently added tags to my blog posts so that related blog posts are suggested to visitors. My understanding was that my robot.txt was handling duplicate content so thought it wouldn't be an issue but after Moz crawled by site this week is reported 56 issues of duplicate content in my blog. I'm using Shopify, so I can edit the robot.txt file but is my understanding correct that if there are 2 or more tags then they will be ignored? Should my client copy and paste his blog posts onto other professional sites?
I have a client who is an Attorney and participates in a couple of different Q and A legal sites. One of these legal sites is recommending to my client that he copy and paste his blog posts onto his profile page on the Q and A site. I understand my client wanting to copy and paste his blog posts onto these sites, as it will not only get his content in front of a larger audience, but also lend credibility. However, I've always heard that that could cause some duplicate content problems. Will my client's blog likely get penalized by google for copying and pasting his blog posts onto other relevant sites?

Google authorship works on posts, but not on root domain.
When I check Google authorship via the tool Google provides, it says I am confirmed for individual posts, but not for my root domain. I’m using WordPress, and individual posts are fine, but not the blog as a whole. I am the only author… and have given it a week, thinking perhaps it needed time... but no luck. Any suggestions? What are the best widgets to use on Wordpress? And what is most useful on Wordpress for content syndication?
We are in the process of researching the best plugins and widgets for our clients' blogs. It appears that SEO by Yoast is most popular for 2013 so far. Any recommendations on which widgets we should be using or plugins for content syndication? If we use something like the Jetpack plugin, would this do the trick?

Evergreen content: Dedicated section or blog posts?
As part of our content strategy we are creating an ongoing series of articles to help both our potential buyers and our users learn about our product and improve their knowledge of industry best practices in general. Internally, we've had some debate as to where we should host this content within our site. We've identified two approaches: Series of blog posts Dedicated knowledge section of the website If we go with the first approach, we would created a dedicated section that indexed all the blog posts. If we went with the second, we'd create blog posts for each of the articles announcing their addition. Is there any difference, SEO wise with the two approaches? What would you recommend? Prevent average users from copying content and pasting into their websites
Please do not respond with a "you can't stop them" comment, I understand this. Most of our pages have content that is duplicated across multiple domains. The recent Google algorithm update focused on penalizing pages that have duplicate content, and it could be one of the reasons that we have been seeing traffic loss. I'm looking for some type of javascsript/php code that will help minimize this issue.If could be code that does not allow you to copy and paste the code without turning of javascript or a dialog box pops up and says "this content is copyright protected, anyone copying this content is subject to legal action" I've found one script that might work http://www.ioncube.com/html_encoder.php My questions are still the same: 1 What is the best method to achieve my objective? 2 Will this additional code affect how the webbots see our site and or affect rankings? I know that anyone can figure out how to get the code, I am trying to mitigate by providing a warning about copyright infringement and making it more challenging to copy our content. Duplicate Content on WordPress Blogs?
We are getting ready to add a WordPress blog to our established website. Our plans are to place it in a subfolder on our website to maximize rank. My question is...Do we need to utilize a Meta Robots WordPress plugin by Yoast or similar so that noindex,follow robots meta tags will prevent search engine indexing of search result pages, subpages and category archives?
