Article Marketing
-
Hello,
Our nearest ecommerce competitor has quite a few links from article directories like ezinearticles.com and similar sites.
I know these sites are bottom of the barrel in SEO, but I've been thinking of writing a few 500 word articles and posting them on some of the strongest of these article directories.
Maybe I'll stick to ezinearticles.com since I only like to get links from sites that are going to stick around. What do you think - which of these article directories going to be here for the long term?
Mainly what I'm asking for here is a top 5 list of the best article directories, or perhaps a better article marketing strategy.
I loved that whiteboard friday on Article Marketing. I'm going to watch that again.
Thank you.

Simple online contact works fine, but it depends on your niche.
Let's say you are a computer programmer specializing in building WordPress sites. You can join wordpress.com, wordpress.org and numerous other communities by simply registering on those sites. Then read questions asked each day and answer some of them.
Each time you offer a valid answer, you are not only helping the person who asked the question but numerous others who will see your response later. You will become known in the community.
At times you will see a question regarding a topic you have covered on your site. Link to the topic and expose your site to the community. Sometimes you will find that you have repeatedly answered the same question. That may be a signal to write a great article covering the topic.
Forums, blogs, etc. all offer ways for users such as yourself to generate content.

OK that's clear, that is kind of what I was wondering. So how exactly do you contact a site that covers your niche- do you use phone or email? What exactly do you say? What works?

You will find your answers by looking at the below article:
http://www.seomoz.org/blog/the-web-developers-seo-cheat-sheet
If you read that article without reading this far you are probably asking "Why did he offer that link? It has nothing to do with writing articles and sharing them on directories?"
That was the first article I read from Danny Dover. It was a well-written, helpful article. I believe Danny may have worked for SEOmoz at the time, but this site has an open community. If you take the time to write a similar, high quality article then you can have that article published in this site's blog. It could be your twitter link at the bottom, or perhaps a helpful link to your profile or site at the bottom of the article.
Whether your niche is vitamin sales, coffee or cars there are plenty of sites which discuss your topic. Write a great article and let the world know about it. Keep most of your content on your site but once in a while offer your article to a site that covers your niche. You can then become a bigger part of their community, a known contributor, and gain recognition for yourself and your site that way.
The entire concept of creating 500 word mediocre articles for the primary purpose of SEO, then sharing these average quality articles with various article directories is something that is primarily being done for the purpose of manipulating search results. Even if it works today, you are always going to be one panda update from making a "I don't understand why my rankings dropped" post.
That is where I would offer a very different opinion.

Question concerning a freelance article link
Hey fellow Mozzers,
Link Building | | MountainMedia
I was performing a link audit for a client and came across a link linking to a deep page for our client with the link being anchored to a targeted keyword. It's a freelance article that is well written and deals with our client's industry but indirectly. The page has no PR but decent PA and DA. My question is, is there the possibility that Penguin would consider it spammy? The link is located in the author tagline at the bottom of the article. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks!0 -
Good article distribution services?
Our site has a lot of content we are able to modify/distribute without too much time so I am planning to syndicate some of this using article distribution. Apart from Ezine articles, are there any other article distribution services I should/could consider using? I do know that I should also be focussing most of my resource on building high-quality links through guest blogs etc! However this seems like a relatively quick win. Thanks in advance

Article Marketing and Penguin
Can sites like Ezine.com and Articlebase.com still be used to create good links? I have heard since Penguin, that article submission sites like those don't work anymore for link building. I have a client who can't put new content on his site and will rely on link building, what is the best way to go about it?? Thanks.

Article Submission Old Hat or Still Good hat?
I have always used article submission sites such as ezine, article snatch etc... I have always seen the big ones as a good way of getting relevant content out into the internet network with the bonus of building quality links back. However I have now been reading a lot of conflicting information, since the latest update from Google that even an article being republished multiple times around the net will wipe out the positive impact of the article and bring no SEO benefit. I wanted to get feedback from the SEOmoz community to see if you now feel this is a pointless exercise and we should now be even more careful as to where our content is published.

Article Marketing - manual vs automated or both
Hi Mozzers, Are services such as Article Samurai or Content Crooner worth the time/effort/money? On one hand, I cannot see them generating high quality links. But , they may be able to help on the quantity side of the link building equation. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with automated article submission? Thanks, Peter

Where/should I post my press release/articles on my own website?
I have started a long-term article marketing campaign and press release distribution. I will have about 4 articles and press releases in total every month. Although the press releases will not be self-promotional, sometimes they will be talking about a certain product that we unveil. The question is, due to the high quality of these press releases, should I put them on my website as well as publish them on third party websites? If so, because they target a specific service/product which we already have a dedicated page on our website, wouldn't that put Google in the position of choosing between the two pages? I was thinking to put them on my blog and link internally from there with the keywords that I target on those pages as anchor text. The same question for articles. Any suggestions?
