Do any Local Rank Trackers Report This Way?
-
I'm having trouble finding a local rank tracking service with useful reporting. I've tried several and for the money, have gravitated toward's Whitespark's service as for $25/month I can track unlimited locations. But their report is indicative of what I've seen time and time again in my 18-year experience as a Software Developer and Internet Marketer. Whomever is making the design decisions isn't a Seasoned (Local) SEO, and/or probably hasn't done their homework well enough by talking to seasoned SEOs.
Their Summary Report looks like this (see attachement).
When I'm doing Local SEO I'm looking at a lot of reporting data but among that, probably the most important is:
How many of the listings moved up into position #1-3 on Local Finder which is also usually the Local 3-Pack (sometimes a 2-pack explaining the discrepancy in the first two rows between the number in the #1-3 column.)
I also want to know how many listing moved UP into the #4-10. And vice versa, what fell out of #1-3 and #4-10.
The problem with the format of this report, if a listing falls from #2 to #5, it will be a decrease in #1-3 and an INCREASE for #4-10. This would give me the false impression that a listing that was below #10 came into the #4-10 when in actuality the increase in #4-10 was because of a decrease in #1-3!! One situation is positive the other is negative.
What I want to know is how many listings (totals without getting out the calculator):
- moved up into #1-3 (White Spark does this via the Increase column in the Local 3-Pack row)
- moved up into #4-10
- moved down out of #1-3 to #4-10
- moved down out of #1-3 to below #10
- moved down out of #4-10 to below #10.
Does anyone know of local tracking services that give you this kind of data in this way?

Hey there. I'm Darren Shaw, the founder of Whitespark. I do most of the planning and design of features for our software. I think I'm a decently seasoned local SEO, but I'm embarrassed to say that I hadn't considered what you are saying in this post. You're absolutely right that we should report ranking movements in the way you propose, and I will get my dev team working on it right away. We'll have this change implemented within the next couple of weeks. Thank you for the excellent suggestion! You can contact me anytime at darren@whitespark.ca if you have any other thoughts, questions, or suggestions.

Single Local Result on Google... Wut up with that?
I'm seeing, for several different locations, single businesses suddenly coming up for searches on local services, where there used to be 3-Pack results. Now it's like a knowledge panel result on the right. Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas as to what's going on... and if there's anything that can be done to revert it? (influence the type of local result). Thanks!

Do you get junk mail after adding a local listing?
I'm curious if when anyone has submitted a new business citation, once it appears in Google, Bing, Yellow Pages, etc, do you notice if junk mail starts to flow in?

How to perform a search as though you are in a local city
Hi community. So I live in Dubai but have a lot of clients in the UK that want local SEO. Does anyone have any tips on performing search queries in Google that reflect a true search results page as though that search was being performed in a chosen UK city? say if I wanted to see the SERPs for "hairdressers" in the city of Bristol in the UK, at the moment I get a pretty vague UK SERP from With lots of Dubai based adverts et. Any tips would be great, thanks

Pictures on Google Local not ours
Hi all- We recently had some pictures show up on our local profile that are not our store. When you click on them they have links to someone's blog as well. Can someone tell me how these got here and more importantly how to get rid of them. We've looked everywhere but can't find them to get rid of. Thanks for any help! Ken

Local Listings - where to manage?
I'm optimizing for a a local client and I have suggested we take a look at Moz Local to manage their listings. I showed the customer the data aggregators that Moz Local would push data to. (Which of course they had never heard of). They were concerned about YELP and TripAdvisor, etc. If I populate their local business data into Moz Local > Moz local sends it to > lets say Factual... does Factual send/share this information to Yelp? Or do I need to ad the company information in Yelp or TripAdvisor in addition to what Moz Local is sharing to the aggregators? Would love some feedback! Thanks, Jolie

Google + / Local for Business. How to SEO ?... Done the basic but no real change.
Hi All, We have set up all of our Google local for business pages which are verified and these link to the relevant branch pages on our website. The branch pages also link back to the relevant google local page. We only appear for one category on the google local pages and we have also done a large number of citations (NAP) across all locations and the text used in each of the google pages is keyword rich and we mention the city in there as well to localise it. We have a few google + likes and we have used hootsuite to publish the same content across some of the google local pages which links back to our website blog , we are not appearing in local search whereas our competitors seem to be appear for all their branches. Is there any fundamental tips or things we need to do to def. get up on the rankings.. Or any good articles worth reading ?.. I've had a look but can't seem to see anything relating a google local business bible.. thanks Pete

Tips for attributing specific rises in rank to increases in traffic
I'm curious how people attribute a rise or fall in a specific keyword to increases/decreased in traffic on a large website that ranks for a wide variety of keywords. I'm specifically interested tracking how small moves on the front page, especially the top positions and in competitive keywords affect (or don't affect) traffic/CTR. I'd like to be able to attribute specific changes in rank to their impact on traffic. I'm thinking about this more for internal testing and optimization rather than for reporting as a way to try to hone resources on what has the largest impact. Things I'd like to know more about: How to measure the difference in traffic/CTR for a term that moves from 2nd to 3rd position in SERPs. 3rd to 1st. 4th to 5th. 1st to 2nd. etc. etc. The same fluctuations, but in a local listing. The effect of moving above or below a local listing, or a listing with some other kind of extended result (sitelinks, news article, etc.) How to measure the impact of an appearance or disappearance of authorship on click through rate, especially for positions 2-5 in the SERPs. The same would go for a video snippet. Measuring changes resulting from any other type of change I'd love for as many people as possible to answer, with as specific or broad of an answer suits your experience and expertise. Feel free to answer only some of the questions, or provide related information. Links to articles, anecdotes, case studies, hunches, and hard numbers are all appreciated and welcomed. I look forward to hearing from people!

Google+ Local Address not changing
Just changed a Google+ Local address, however realise that its not changing. Does it usually take time for a Google+ address to change once submitted? Would like to know the process here so that this address can change so as to ensure NAP consistency.
