Too many SEO changes needed on a page. Create a new page?
-
I've been doing some research on a keyword with Page Optimization.
I'm finding there's a lot of changes suggested. I'm wondering that because of the amount of changes required is it better to create a new page entirely from scratch that has all the suggestions implemented OR change the current page?
Thanks,
Chris

Firstly see what Google thinks of the page. On-page SEO checkers require wider experience to use accurately and efficiently. You can't just take insights from online tools and run with them
If the page has no associated keywords / search queries (in Ahrefs, GSC, Google Analytics, SEMRush etc) then that would show Google isn't really that interested. Because keyword data (even from Google) is always heavily sampled, you'd also want to check if, as a 'landing page' (in Google Analytics), the page had been receiving any traffic from Google (Organic Search segment)
If the page is doing well despite what online tools say, rules be damned. If the page isn't performing well (or at all) then just re-build it from scratch in line with best practices, and 301 redirect the old URL to the new one. If the URL stays the same then just rebuild on the active URL, that's fine too (but don't publish until the complete re-build is 100% finished and you are 110% happy with it)

Chris,
As Jose stated there us a risk attached to creating a new page, however, if that's the only option then ensure that you have 301(s) in place.
-
Hi Jose,
Thanks for your reply.
It sounds like creating a new page would be the safer option?
If the URL is changed, would that diminish the value greatly i take, even if the URL is now optimised like the competitors pages?
-
Hi
If the page has already been indexed by google, you run the risk of losing the positioning you have achieved, as well as the backlinks that website has received. Therefore, I advise you to value before the importance and repercussions that it can have.

Does Implemented SEO Changes Using Google Tag Manager are not supported any more?
Hello all! On May i read the article https://moz.com/blog/seo-changes-using-google-tag-manager and I implemented it in order to de-index some pages. I was really happy cause it worked but now the same problem appeared. Does anybody know if Google stopped taking into consideration SEO changes through Tag Manager? Hin6E Hin6E

Home page ranks for most keywords with no SEO
Hi Guys, The keyword I am trying to rank is on seperate page with its own Optimization in place. However the HOME page of website starts ranking for that keywords . The keyword is mentioned on Home page Just once in content description, that's all. What should be my ideal strategy. Deleting the Sub Page, will that improve the SEO of my home page and improve the Rank for that keyword ? Also I can see my Own YELP pages rank better than the actual website for few terms . Any way around this ? A Part from building links to page ?

SEO direction - help needed
Hi, I've been working on a site for about 5 years. We built the traffic up to about 8k visitors/day. Although now it's dropped down over the past 2 years to about 2k visitors a day. New traffic source is mainly from SEO longtail. The whole time we have been working to improve the site. What's the best way to get some help from experts on the right direction to get traffic back up or to at least tell me the site will never work 🙂 Thanks in advance. M

Change post with date to page without date
what to do with posts that should be pages. One of our clients is a nation wide company with different local pages, targeting city+business. This week we found out that every page has a publishing date in the search results. So the pages are not pages but posts? the publishing dates are a some time ago and we think they hurt the rankings. We want to make those post/ pages, but does this bring any risk? example: plumbing.com/chigaco to the same url? and just change code? the website is build in something called "send".

Category Pages up - Product Pages down... what would help?
Hi I mentioned yesterday how one of our sites was losing rank on product pages. What steps do you take to improve the SERPS of product pages, in this case home/category/product is the tree. There isn't really any internal linking, except one link from the category page to each product, would setting up a host of internal links perhaps "similar products" linking them together be a place to start? How can I improve my ranking of these more deeply internal pages? Not just internal links?
