Targeting combination of keywords
-
Hi,
On our website Vliegtickets.nl we are now targeting one combination of keywords " flights + destination".
We are working on a new website and we are rewriting texts for the launch. Our idea is to target again on the combination " flights + destination", but also target other combinations.
Our intention is to have a first introduction text targeted on " flights + destination" and have lower parts of texts (descriptions) targeted on the long tail, with use of keywords like flight / fly to / cheap tickets to etc.
Our page will be divided like this:
1. introduction text max 150 words (h1 + h2) targeted on " flights + destination"
2. box 2 Cityguide snippets / content in context of destination - targeted on city name
3. box 3. Question: target on new generic keywords + combination of destinationWhat is your point of view on box 3?
- Is it the right way to target a broader range of keywords?
- Should we use these long tail keywords (fly to / flights / cheap flights...) also in meta title / meta description / strong kwds, etc?
- Or will it be sufficient if we target on one combination and use those synonyms in a lower density?
- Or is it best to keep the focus on one main combination and other pages on other keyword combinations?
Best regards,
-
I would agree with both Andy and Shailendra. Keep your pages focussed and where possible, have pages with a dedicated purpose.
Create pages in a structured manner and as already mentioned, try and get a phrase into the URL, the page title, H1, etc., but ensure that your links can be followed easily by your visitors as well as the search engines. Embed a few links with strong anchor text into the page content where possible as well.
Good luck,
Andy

I feel like you are targeting too many keywords on the same page. It's better to target 2-3 keyphrases (broad + LSI) and craft content around it. It is very necessary to have an intuitive design and content that drives the user to the conversion page.
You should use primary keywords of the page in title, description and url (if possible)
Also, pages should not be deep and the site architecture should be flat.

As long as it doesn't impact user experience I would say target your keyword combinations on a page by page basis. This also allows you to use sculpted link text and one main page as your hub linking out to associated combinations, thus you provide a strong linking structure. The simple rule is that a single page cannot be king of all keywords, too many and you are diluting their power.

Two sites targeting same keywords (but with different owners)
Hi Guys So we manage a client website doing their seo and ppc The site has become a success so the client has now asked if we would like to create our own site and become an affiliate of theirs The idea is target the same set of keywords etc. My question is - in the world of google is this ok? I know about google penalising same business owners for having two websites targeting the same keyword.... But in this case - the websites are owned by different owners, different hosting, different domain ownership, different analytics code, different code development, different about us Everything is different but I am just a little paranoid that google knows we SEO the clients website Does anyone have any advice? Thanks Duncan

Multiple times same keyword or Lsi / synonym.
Hello, I have a page with multiple bike tours on tour and under my image as anchor text linking to the different destination I have written the region + bike tour. Is it ok to write bike tour that many times bike tours or would it be better to write variations of it such as "Bordeaux biking, Strasbourg to Colmar by bike for (Alsace bike tour) or doesn't it matter ? Thank you,

Keyword research
Do I understand it correctly ? Let's say my keyword is Piedmont bike tours. From what I understand I need to use synonyms of Piedmont bike tours that people would use to find my website such as bike trip in Piedmont or cycling vacation in Piedmont and then closely related phrases in my content which are not necessarily synonyms but that semantically related, correct ? Do I need to do that for every topic that I decide to talk about on my webpage. For example let's say another topic I have decided to talk about on my page about Piedmont bike tour is Barolo. Do I need to do the same process for Barolo ? Thank you,

What HREF should be used to target the market of the foreigners?
Usually, foreigners use a local computer (system language), on a local google but are searching in their native language for topics related with their native language. It's a mess for us and google it seems. In example, if a venezuelan person living in France (Paris), on a french AZERTY computer (not literally... 🙂 there is no such thing as a french computer), on Google.fr, search for a venezuelan arepa recipe using the keyword "receta arepa" in spanish of course, he is expecting the result to be in spanish. How could we optimize our pages with HREF or other tricks to rank as high as possible with that configuration? This is obviously just an example, but it represents the problem I am facing.

Different rankings for same keyword in different geo locations
I am listed at # 11 in google.com.pk for a same keyword but listed 4th when I use &gl=us in the same query or use a US ip address. Could this be because google's recent update and maybe they are taking time to push the update towards other countries or something else? In any case I see decent rankings when I use the query in google.com or when I use gl=us, but lower quality results in google.com.pk so please guide what is going on. Thanks in advance for guidance (y)

Keyword-Rich Domains - Redirect?
Hi, Mozzers- I have a client that has a bunch of pretty nice keyword-rich domain names. Their traffic and rankings are good. They provide legal services in the Chicago area. I have lots of good content that I could use to start a blog using a domain like keyword,keyword-blog.com. Good idea? Currently I have a resources area on their website but feel like this area could be getting a little bloated and some news-related stuff isn't really appropriate. 2 Questions: Should I use one of the decent domains for a blog and build up the rankings, traffic, and link to the main site? Or is this lots of work for little payout? Both sites would be hosted in the cloud. Some of the domain names are related to their name, others are keyword or geo-targeted. Would it be wise to setup 301 redirects going to their website? Pros/cons? If you need additional info, please PM me for details. Thank you, friends! LHC
