Linkbuilding in unrelated blogs
-
Does google penalize you for linkbuilding in blogs that are non related to the topic of your website?
Are there any positive benefits to link building in unrelated blogs?
-
I wouldn't want 300 casino and body part enhancement blogs linking to my site, but in general it's not a problem. Jen Lopez has mentioned my business (RC model warship combat boats) with a link in coverage on the SEOmoz blog in relation to a wrap-up post on an SES we both attended. I'm not going to turn down that link. A lot of the top links to our business in OSE are from SEO sites, as I usually liveblog a couple of conferences a year.
Would I intentionally go out and try to build links from someone with a blog about fruit tree care as opposed to spending the same time and effort building links from a blog about WWII model ship plans? No, not at all.

There are NO penalties for link building on external blogs, build on any blog as long as it has high authority and is far away from spam.
As long as the actual page relates to yours you will be on top of the world.

Care to share? How do you add your keyword to the link without making it look like an advertising post, no matter how you phrase it!
-
Ok so you are distributing your blog posts with relevant anchor text - I would try and ensure that you have more links tracking back from related domains than that of unrelated - try finding relevant blogs using something like soloseo link finder

Im working on a blog post campaign that includes anchor text keyword links back to my site.

What kind of link building are you doing?
If I was approached to provide a link to an unrelated property, I would have to pass (unless it offered something of value to my visitors). Be careful of blogrolls etc.. form unrelated sites as it does not necessarily need to be Google who picks them up in order for you to be penalized.
-
I don't think you'll get any penalty, but keep it below 10% of the overall picture.
-
I think the better thing to ask is why do you need non-related links?
There are tons of link opportunities for every niche for free one way links.

Guest Blogging good or bad?
Hello Mozzers, Matt Cutts once told that guest blogging is a bad way to get links, then he relativized it again and said it's okay. We all know Google doesn't want to count those links, what they want are editorially given links. Now my question, what's your view on this topic? Do you still use guest blogging as a link building technique? Best regards, grobro

Creating your own blog for back linking to your site
Our competitor seems to be linked to a blog that they have created themselves. From an SEO perspective is it worthwhile creating a blog that is related to your particular industry and then only including links back to your site. Also is there any way to upload ,articles etc automatically to the blog to cut down on the people hours involved in updating content?

Blogs
I am thinking of starting a couple off site blogs for myself. 1 I might share some client information and link building and the other would be for me to rant. I was thinking about doing a wordpress or blogger blog, someone recommended Tumblr. Anyone have any suggestions?

How do you use a blog to help SEO.
Hi, So you launch a blog on your website, fill it with lots of great content and update weekly with more great content. From what I know your looking to gain 2 things! 1. Users linking back to your blog and 2. Sharing the content on social networks. Building up social lists on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc so when you do post something new you have a hub of users to help push your post by sharing it on social networks which should also help to generate more backlinks. Is this the main purpose of a blog for SEO? Would anything else apart from the above effect the SEO for the site? Maybe the freshness of content also has a positive impact! Also if your blog is picking up lots of links, for this example lets say 100 links a month and the rest of the site outside of the blog is picking up 10 a month will the blogs power of picking up links effect the rest of the sites rankings, would you need to anchor text link out of the posts in the blog to make the most out of it? Cheers

What are the pros and cons of having comments posted on your blog?
I get a lot of spammy comment comments to my blog which I trash, but I'm also particular about the comments I allow. How do the search engines regard these comments, should I allow more to be posted as it looks like I'm getting more traffic. And by posting these comments, who benefits from the backlinks?

Blogs that Thank Their Sponsors in a Blog Post
I've noticed some popular bloggers who create a monthly blog post that thanks their sponsors and the links are followed. Do you think that Google lets this slide or are they stopping some or all of the links from these blogs from passing link juice?

Does PA matter much on blogs like tumblr, wordpress.com?
I've been exploring setting up pages on these type of sites. When searching for key words I've discovered the following... If a sites DA id let's say 83, the root domain you create is also an 83 (not 100% but most I've looked at) The PA starts at 1, but there seem to be a lot of these blog sites that rank for my key word searches even though the PA is a 1. So... I was wondering the value of attempting the get the PA of mine greater than one with back links. The blog page will link to the corresponding page on my main site. Is it worth the time, or PA in this case is not really much of a ranking factor in creating link juice? What I'm asking is that will a page on let's say joemastriano.blogspot.com/ (whatever) get more link juice to the page i link it to if the PA was 25 and not 1?
