What article directories (if any) are still worthing posting to?
-
While article marketing my not be at the top of the SEO strategy heap, it has, thus far, had a place small place at the table.
In light of the Panda-Farmer-Anti-Demand-Media-Content update, I'm re-thinking article marketing altogether.
Which, if any, general article directories are still worth adding content to in terms of links and eyeballs?
Should these general article directories be avoided altogether?

Just wanted to leave a quick note saying that SEOmoz has upgraded our Link Directory! You can view a post Cyrus wrote with more information about the directory update and link building via directories at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/seo-link-directory-best-practices

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, I still think article submission has a role. As you note, I need to tighten up to where I submit.
-
Thanks moldy. From my brief research since posting the question, most "experts" agree with you in terms link trust. I'm still skeptical, but don't have hard data.
-
In response to your original question, I am still using directory's as I used to before the update. I feel that they devalued the rank of the pages rather than the trust of the links in the article, I have no data to back this up but it's my view. Would be great to hear from someone with proven results (i.e uses article marketing and has seen no ranking changes in the last month)

Thanks. I didn't realize he had said this.

Take note that this directory list is out of date, as stated by Rand, CEO of SEOMOZ.

I am pretty sure that certain directories still carry authority. Directories are defined by who they let in and who they keep out. So directories with very little barrier to entrance and no quality control that are easy to submit to and/or free will have very little value. "You get what you pay for."
But don't throw out the article submission all together. Just be more selective in where and what you post.
On a side note... Here is a list that SEOmoz keeps of traditional directories that you could use to supplement your articles: http://www.seomoz.org/directories

Does Dofollow links from forumn profiles, blog comments, business directories or article directories etc have any impact?
Hi guys, So looking at my competitors in my city a lot of the people ranking on 2nd, 3rd pages and so forth have little or no quality backlinks, instead, their links are all from business directories, forum profiles and blog comments. I saw google employees saying easy to create links hold very little value and it's easy for the algorithm to distinguish been easy to obtain backlinks and difficult ones. From what I see on my competition backlink profiles, they may not get them to the front page but they do get them to pages, two three and four. I was wondering if creating say 20-30 easy links per week and also focus on obtaining high-quality backlinks. Would they be any penalties for 20-30 easy to make links a week from Google? Cheers

Blog post back link
Hi, I am new to SEO and I am planning to hire someone in Fiverr regularly to submit different guest posts on the different related topic on the website with a good domain authority (>60) as a result to have some quality inbound links. As I am writing the guest post myself, May I know how many backlinks should I have per post are best for SEO? and should I only focus on anchor text backlinks? Also, here is my understanding of what I should be careful when hiring someone on Fiverr to do a blog post, please let me know if I am wrong and if there is another thing I need to be careful. It needs to be dofollow link It is permanent I check the website domain authority and spam sore that the person provides before using it. Please let me know if I missed out something. Appreciated Kind regards Chris

Paid directory links
Just going through my competitors back links, and discovered a couple of directories who charge a small fee for a listing (£20) (one way link) or a free listing (with a reciprocal link) they both have PR of 50 so I was wondering are these type of links still worth it? Best wishes. David.

First Post! Local Electrician Site.
I have a site for a local electrician that I just can't seem to get to move up the SERPS. I've tried everything form on-page optimization to local link building but It seems to always hover around position 11-17 for my keyword 'electricians grimsby' - which is not very competitive. Any advice would be invaluable.

Business.com still relevant(after all the recent updates)
Just curious if paying for a business.com link is still relevant at all. I cancelled my yahoo paid directory listing after researching on here. Can put the $300 to better use elsewhere. Just curious if business.com is now not the best use of money either. Thanks! Aaron

Link Building Services Post Penguin
Hi Can anyone suggest a link building service that is of higher quality and still works nowadays? All the private networks were deindexed and it looks like we're left only with blasting software, which i don't really like. I am doing research on link building now and i can't seem to find any service that meets the quality of BMR or other deindexed Homepage Networks. Thanks!

How do you feel about article directories?
Hello, I am a beginner in SEO and I have been reading a lot recently about article directories and article marketing. I have already started writing for article directories, ezinearticles particularly, but I still have mix feelings about it: does it really worth spending some time to write unique articles and to submit them to directories? How does Google feel about it? What do you think about small linkwheel strategies to give some weight to the content you create?

Article Marketing - manual vs automated or both
Hi Mozzers, Are services such as Article Samurai or Content Crooner worth the time/effort/money? On one hand, I cannot see them generating high quality links. But , they may be able to help on the quantity side of the link building equation. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with automated article submission? Thanks, Peter
