I cant find an infographic on this for you. Essentially every SEO will go about this differently. If I remember there are some template emails on this site??
To get blog and forum links, obviously you just need to comment or sing up and post... Getting guest posts posted you need to build a relationship with the blog owner.
If you're looking for a quick win you could try distributing a few articles to ezines such as http://ezinearticles.com/

Hi Vijay,
SEOMoz has several blogs posts that talk about good ways to build links, and how to write emails asking for links. Ideally, you want relevant links from relevant sites. I get requests on our RC boat site for link swaps for hair style businesses or real estate companies, and it's obvious they've never even visited our site. They receive no response.
Some good resources:

If you get the URL you can just try contacting their generic contact email account.
I guess you just have to hope is passed on to the right person.
You might also try using some high page ranked Web Directories. As much as some say not to use these,
I have had good success just with these and keyword density in content.

Thanks Matt, So I guess I need to find links from link building tools that provide me the URL and the email of the person to contact I guess?
i am considering ontolo and also going to try out the link acquisition assistant but I dont think any of the seomoz tools give you the contact of the link?
best regards,
Vijay

Hi Vijay,
The first step would be to track down a contact email. Draft an email to them offer a link swap.
Its a numbers game really for every 10 emails you might get a response. Its best to send from a
personal mail address also not a info@ or sales@ email address.
Thanks
Matt

How valid are these types of links?
Hi Mozzers, I am wondering how valid are those links <a href="http: www.domainlinking.com="" wp-content="" themes="" websitename="" directory-click-thru.php?id="51956&thru=www.domainlinked.com"">ANCHOR . Not sure what are those? are these for tracking purposes?</a href="http:> This link acts as a click though and displays the domain linked but I am not sure if these links passes as much juice as a link following this format <a href="http: www.domainlinked.com"="">ANCHOR ? Are these should be worth pursuing or am I wasting my time with those?</a href="http:> Thanks for letting me know!

Links from my Own Blog to my Own Website and Link Scheme
Hi There, I use my own blog to give advices and offer information related to my business service. Of course in terms of SEO my blog is useful not only to expand my brand presence but also to acquire long-tail traffic. I use to insert a maximum of one link with a relative matching anchor text in every article of my blog pointing to my own webpage. Said that, the questions are as follows: Am I involuntarily participating in a Link Scheme with my blog? And If so, how many links can I send to my own webpage ? Shall I limit the number of links to a minimum? Thanks a lot for your advices.

Internal linking on my webpages
When I create internal links on my website should I use the keyword or at least a related keyword ( synonym ) every time... I am asking because on my website it is hard to create links from one sub section to another subsection linking with a anchor text that relates to the other category. For example in the travel industry it is hard to have a page that talks about Florida and on the page find a way to link the keywords, California , NY and Missouri ( other than listing those next to each other ... ) as they do not belong to my content about Florida but are all different states listed in my " states category " If I link the words next to each other in the page Florida, such as "you should also check California, NY, Missouri etc... " does it carry any value doing that or does it need to be surrounded by text that is related ? Or is it better to list it in a menu on the right or left side on my page ? ( which one caries more value ) Or if I have the word beach in my Florida page and link it to California is it better even though the user doesn't know what he or she is going to find by clicking on beach ? Thank you,

Why aren't links to my site from YouTube showing up in my link reports?
Our company is paying for a service to create hundreds of videos/month for us with links back to our primary domain. If I go to YouTube I see the videos with the links, but YouTube does not show in my link reports. Why not?

Finding links online that already exist as link juice based on search results
I'm curious about this, I can't find anything on the net that talks about it. I wrote an article about it on squidoo and have had no responses so I am thinking this is very rare subject. The question is I have done some backlink research with my competitors with linkdetective.com and found many links (even follow ones) related to sites that provide search results. Here are a link about what I am talking about as an example, I have found many more besides this one. http://search.lphant.com/es/webResults.html?q=free%20scrabble%20dictionary&hl=en&page=1&src=hmp_es&ref=1 My site appears in those results. When looking at the source there is no "nofollow". I found this page because linkdetective.com had this link listed pointing to my competitor. Are these valid backlinks? What I have been doing is adding these links to http://www.google.com/addurl so that Google knows about them. Is there something I am missing or are these valid?

"gimme links" = easy to fill out profile/personal reputation links that offer a do-follow anchor text flexible link
I'm doing some SEO for small niche service sites...and aside from niche directories and some light article marketing and local search directories (yelp, etc) there really isn't a budget for content generation. I really only have a budget for profile/submission links. What are some sites where you can quite easily fill out a personal profile with an anchor text variable link that may not be THAT juicy but will stick (i.e. not a spam/fake profile type of link, but something like Linkedin). I'll start with giving away 1 www.istockphoto.com Any others that aren't obvious?
