Running Adwords Campaigns to show Improvement in Organic Traffic

Hi mozers, I have a new client who contacted because his organic traffic dropped all of a sudden from 5000 visits per month to 300 visits per month.
I have been reviewing his website profile and there are several reasons that take me to beleave the agency that managed his account until 3 months ago, was doing PPC to show improvement in the orgranic (SEO Service) traffic.
1. The Website was showing traffic for several highly competitive keywords
2. Most of the traffic 95% was driven to the home page with several groups of keywords
3. The website has just a few external links with anchor text not related to keywords sending traffic.
Is anyone familiar with this type of practice? Thanks in advanced.

Thanks Vinnie. There is an actual PPC campaing running, an "official Adwords campaign" that has been running all this time.
But to me there had to be a parallel Adwords campaign running that time until December when the client left the SEO Agency.
So the agency was hired to do PPC and SEO. It seems to me they run one official Adwords Campaign and one "hidden Adwords Campaign" to show fast organic traffic results to the client.
I just don´t see any elements on that website that shows me they actually ranked for the keywords sending traffic: The Website has just a few links (20), no anchor text optimized, most keywords where sending traffic to the home page, etc.

I can't think of it off the top of my head but one of the keyword spy websites has a tool that shows PPC history I believe. This could help you know the source of the old traffic. Does anyone know what site I am talking about? It might actually be keywordspy.
That is interested that in analytics you can disable PPC tracking. That could help scammers sell websites claiming organic traffic.

Direct Traffic has been incresing, referral traffic is normal, while organic traffic has decreased from 15.000 per month in Nov to 518 per month in March.

Thanks Marcus, the client wants to know. One of our main tasks is to find out what happened with the "supposedly dropped in organic traffic". I have the Analytics and Webmasters account.
So I was told you could run a PPC campaign setting auto tagging off and this traffic will not be reported in Analytics as paid, instead it will be reported as organic traffic.
What I figured is the Old Agency was doing the SEO for them and to keep the client and show fast results they could be running a PPC campaign. The client left the Agency and right after that "organic traffic dropped".

Have you got historical analytics? You can segregate traffic into paid or organic and find out exactly where his traffic was coming from.
It certainly sounds a bit fishy but where is he getting these figures from? To be honest, it does not really matter what the old agency were doing and I would not waste too much energy on that!

When to switch off AdWords ads in your channel mix?
My question is actually Inspired by that very good article: https://moz.com/blog/google-organic-clicks-shifting-to-paid that I read this morning. Present situation: For a specific and valuable non-branded keyword combination (2-3 words) we rank: Google Adwords: position 1 Local Pack (with maps): position 1 Organic Search: position 3-5, lately more 5-6 Question?: Is it still worth having AdWords ads or not there? How to evaluate if we could do without AdWords? Any algorithm, experiment, thought that would help find out? We know our average cost per lead for the different channels. Just to leave away AdWords ads for a certain time is not really an option nor would that statistically mean anything, i.e. if we skip AdWords and have the same number of leads after that and compare it with the months before (with AdWords) that could also be due to other reasons (seasonal aspects, etc.). Put in other words: if we skip AdWords people would still click (more) on our other two search results (local & organic). We have noticed a noticable (typo correction) drop in Adword sales since switching to the new Google Shopping Campaigns in Google Adwords. I have just posted a comment to a Fellow Mozzer on here, as this reflects in his question too. Has anyone else noticed this?

Adwords linking to analytics
Hi there if i have my adwords for a website of mine on a different account to the one i use for google analytics on it, is there anyway to import the data? currently it will only let me link the adwords data in the analytics account if it is on the same Google account - is there a way to give permission for the data from another Google account?

How Can I Increase Conversions from English Speaking Countries in AdWords?
Hello, So here is the gist: Our company provides credit card processing services primarily to e-commerce businesses. I began managing Google AdWords in-house this past April. I started out by not excluding any countries, but received leads from merchants living in countries we could not serve due to risk of fraud. Then, I excluded countries our company could not work with to eliminate unwanted costs. I then took it one step further and targeted only countries our company can serve. My campaigns performed very well. This month, I have been averaging nearly 14 conversions per day. [I should also add that four campaigns are Search and Display, one is remarketing so it is Display only, and two are Search only. Prior to what you will read in the paragraph below, the majority of our conversions came from the Display network, but we had a significantly higher conversion rate with our Search conversions.] However, throughout all of this, we received very few conversion from English-speaking countries--primarily the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Yesterday afternoon, July 15, I targeted only those four countries. When I came into work this morning, I saw that we received very few impressions and only 7 clicks (as opposed to more than 500,000+ impressions in one day and 1,500-2,400 clicks in one day). I am no Google AdWords expert, but I do understand that searching these terms in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia may be more competitive, which will require a higher CPC. I set it so Google manages my CPC, so I would assume this would adjust while staying within my daily budget. I do not know what to do, but am in dire need of guidance. Google Ads not showing
Hello, I am having some trouble with my google adwords. I decided to split my existing campaign into two campaigns, one for customers in the UK and one for the rest of the world. The keywords are the same - only the message is different. i.e. Tractor Parts Free UK shipping on Tractor parts mysite.com/tractor-parts & Tractor Parts Fast shipping to Europe from the UK mysite.com/Tractor-Parts According to Google Adwords my UK campaign has had no impressions and no clicks. However if I search for one of the keywords it appears in the search results with the UK text. Anyone got any ideas?
