Pages not being found in serp
-
Hi I'm helping a collegue with his website.
For what ever reason the pages in the Solutions Menu are not being found in the search result for keywords related to the pages. (Homepage mainly comes up in the search result).
Does anyone have any advise to why this may be happening?
*To give you a bit of a background understanding, previously all the menu content was copied (which I made him change), he also had hidden text on some pages (i made him remove, white text on white background) plus the url structure changed as well. Persoanlly I think he is over using , links, internal linking is not great & the general content is not great in the menu.
Your Thoughts are welcomed, thank you.

Hi
Is that a page where the homepage shows up instead of the desired page? I didn't see anything from your domain on the first 1-20 results.
But see the screenshots. That's a highly competitive term. And then check out your client's domain's backlinks and facebook shares. Very sparse. That clearly needs a lot of work. Ryan's right, it does seem you've got your on page SEO down pretty good. I'd take a look at your backlinking and social sharing metrics now, especially building links to those inner pages you want to rank for.
Maybe there's a better example where the homepage shows instead of the menu page? That was the original question you had, yes?

cheers for your input, I have a suspicion there is a penalty because the site owner was participating in bad practices for quite some time & only when I did a bit of research work I relaised all this stuff was going.
Prob best to revamp the site, clear any improper seo and move forward, plus check to see if any penalties are in place with Google.
cheers...

The pages I checked from the Solutions menu are being indexed.
Jet Reports example, Dynamics Nav example
Clearly the site owner practiced black hat SEO which can directly lead to a manual or algorithmic penalty. My first suggestion is to review the site and ensure it has 100% been cleaned up on any actions which could cause a penalty.
Next, file a Reconsideration Request with Google. Be honest and explain you are a SEO who has recently cleaned up the site and want to ensure no penalties exist. If there is not any manual penalty applied to the site, you will gain peace of mind on this topic and can focus your energies elsewhere. If there is a manual penalty then work with Google to have the penalty lifted.
What's left is pure SEO for the site and these pages which are not performing well. This site needs SEO attention. One example, there is a page titled "Dynamics NAV". http://www.prostrategy-colman.ie/solutions/dynamics-nav
This page is clearly optimized for the term "Dynamics NAV". It's page title, header, URL and content all use the term. The page also contains perfect match anchor text "Dynamics NAV" linking to another page on the site. This link sends a strong, clear message to search engines traffic for the "Dynamics NAV" phrase should be sent to this other page. It's confusing and will negatively affect your rankings for the term.

Hi
Can you give an example of a page and the search you'd like it to show up for?
I am able to get "menu" pages to show as long as the query is specific enough and they all seem to be in the index.

My Website's Home Page is Missing on Google SERP
Hi All, I have a WordPress website which has about 10-12 pages in total. When I search for the brand name on Google Search, the home page URL isn't appearing on the result pages while the rest of the pages are appearing. There're no issues with the canonicalization or meta titles/descriptions as such. What could possibly the reason behind this aberration? Looking forward to your advice! Cheers

Indexed pages
Just started a site audit and trying to determine the number of pages on a client site and whether there are more pages being indexed than actually exist. I've used four tools and got four very different answers... Google Search Console: 237 indexed pages Google search using site command: 468 results MOZ site crawl: 1013 unique URLs Screaming Frog: 183 page titles, 187 URIs (note this is a free licence, but should cut off at 500) Can anyone shed any light on why they differ so much? And where lies the truth?

Page for page 301 redirects from old server to new server
Hi guys:
Technical SEO | | cindyt-17038
I have a client who is moving their entire ecommerce site from one hosting platform (Yahoo Store) to another (BigCommerce) and from one domain to another. The old domain is registered with the Yahoo as of yesterday and we have redirected the old domain (at the domain level) to the new domain. However, we are having trouble getting the pages to redirect page for page. Currently they are all redirecting to the new domain home page. We did just move the old domain from GoDaddy to Yahoo yesterday thinking this would solve it however as of this morning the old pages are still redirecting to the home page of the new domain. To complete the 301 redirect picture, we uploaded the redirects (all relative links for both from and to) to BigCommerce. And while the domain was hosted at GoDaddy with a redirect to the new domain, they were working. We moved the domain to Yahoo because of email issues thinking it should still work. Is it possibly just a waiting game now as the change populates across the DNS? old url to test:

Home page URL
Hi, I work on this site: http://www.towerhousetraining.co.uk/about-us. This is the home page URL. Should this be 301'd to: http://www.towerhousetraining.co.uk? I have created a site map, which I submitted to Google Webmaster Tools, which includes these URL's: /about-us, /training-we-offer & /contact-us. There are a total of 3 pages on the website. Webmaster tools has only indexed 2 out of 3 pages. I think this is something to do with the /about-us URL, as when I do a site: search, these pages appear: www.towerhousetraining.co.uk/, /training-we-offer & /contact-us. I am not sure why Google has indexed the home page as www.towerhousetraining.co.uk/ and not /about-us? Is it a bad idea in general not to have your homepage as your root domain? I added a to the homepage, but am wondering if this was the right thing to do? Any help would be appreciated.

How many pages should my site have?
Right now I think I only have 36. What is a good amount of pages to have? Any ideas on ways to add relevant pages to my site? I was thinking about starting a message board. Also, I have a free tech support chat room, and was thinking about posting the logs somewhere on the site. Does that sound like a good idea? Thanks.
