Page Authority vs. Domain Authority
-
Like many of you, I've spent a lot of time in Open Site Explorer analyzing our links and our competitors, and looking for more linking opportunities. Recently we've been focusing our SEO efforts on gaining links from high value .edu domains and so far we've been very successful. The DA of these links are high (80+), but the links are also coming through on low PA pages (typically 10-35). Are these links still worth while? When does a link not become worth it?
-
Yeh, linkjuice I'd say is worthless.
However I'd still do them regardless of the low / no linkjuice, its just links to the site and you'll get picked up on yahoo and bing. still, and I'm sure Google will notice them and count it as something even if its only a very small amount of juice, its better than nothing.
-
So that means almost all directory sites are worthless for linkjuice.. and also spammy paid link with PA1...
-
I've since realized that links from pages with PA less that 20 are pretty worthless, and not worth spending too much time getting. If you can get them with minimal effort, than go right ahead, but a link with a PA of 50+ will pay dividends in the long run.
-
I have been thinking of just this issue. I have recently added our url to directories as recommended by Rand using getlisted.org. However now on looking at where our link is placed I see the PA is 1, 0 links from 0 domains? and nor page rank information available on google tool bar. I have noticed that these directories pop up in search for some of the keywords placed within our description on these directories, therefore on local search they have been helpful. However given the PA, are they passing little or no linkjuice?
-
Thanks for your reply! I'll keep plugging away and aiming for higher PA links
Cheers,
Andrew

Andrew, I'm not a huge expert but I'll give you my 2c
When I analyse links in opensiteexplorer I tend to filter out the links with PA less than 20.
I've found that with links above 20 PA works for me. There's a huge amount of PA under 20 and you can tell they are usually pages with PR of 1 or 0.
Anyways hope that helped.

Multiple Links from High Ranking Site Vs. Links from Multiple Domains - What's More Important?
I understand it is important to get links from many quality domains. Currently, I do have links from top domains (PR, Trust) and it I can get more from (high rank) pages on these same domains. Would it be better to focus on expanding my reach (find additional domains to link from) or to continue to build links from the current domains I have a connection with? What is weighted more? I realize doing both is important, but trying to figure out how to best use my time. Thanks! David

What do you consider a low authority link directory
Dear All, I would like to weed out the low authority link directories that harm my site. Can someone explain me how you determine a low authority link directory? Do you look at "page auth." and "domain auth"? And do you consider all the links pointing to your site with a "page auth." and "domain auth" lower then - let's say 40 - as a low authority link directory? Thank you for your answers in advance! Regards, Thomas

Link building from keyword domains
Hi all, I am currently working on link building to our site http://www.betxpert.com which has a number of keywords I am targeting. I have become aware that domains with the keywords are available. We (in Danish) target the phrase "ekpert tips" and the domain www.eksperttips.dk is available. Would it be a good thing for us, to register this domain and do one of the following things: a) DNS forward traffic to our main site b) Build a small blog with minor content and linking to the main site with text links with the tekst "ekspert tips"? c) Simply do nothing, save the money and spend it otherwise... Hope someone can give me a sound advice. Best regards, Rasmus

Ranking Inner Pages or the Main Page?
Hello Guys, I am relatively new to the SEO world. So I am just wondering what would be more helpful. Getting the homepage ranked for a list of targeted keywords or creating a separate page for each keyword and then getting those pages ranked? Look forward to hear back, Thanks! Naimath

Contest Page Generating Links
My company is in the middle of a big contest that is generating thousands of backlinks pointing to the contest page on our domain. How do you suggest best using this authority we're building up with these backlinks to spread it to the pages we'd like to rank for, especially after the contest is over and we take down the page?
