OSE Social Signals Affect PA/DA?
-
I've looked through the Open Site Explorer documentation and can't find the answer so am posting here...
I noticed a web page I work on showing a PA 30 but OSE is showing 0 links from 0 root domains. It is a page that has no internal links to it and no external links to it (that I know of) but has stumbles, tweets, and Diggs. Are these social factors the reason it has a PA of more than 0 or 1? If so, is there a link to documentation that shows how OSE handles social signals?
Thanks,
Evan

Thanks for your response! Do you know if there is specific info on how OSE incorporates the social signals into PA? I am wondering how DA would directly influence PA if there are no internal links to the page. Theoretically the page should have a PA of 0 regardless of the DA if there are no links pointing to the page anywhere on the web with the exception of social mentions.
Thanks,
Evan

I know that social does have an impact on PR/PA. However, I think even more than that, the overall domain authority of the entire site will have a significant impact.
OSE probably tries to mesure social metrics like Google does (at least as close as they can). Here is a helpful article on how google and bing use social to influence their search http://www.seomoz.org/blog/facebook-twitters-influence-google-search-rankings

Domain / Page Authority - logarithmic
SEOmoz says their Domain / Page Authority is logarithmic, meaning that lower rankings are easier to get, higher rankings harder to get. Makes sense. But does anyone know what logarithmic equation they use? I'm using the domain and page authority as one metric in amongst other metrics in my keyword analysis. I can't have some metrics linear, others exponential and the SEOmoz one logarithmic.

How do you guys/gals define a 'row?'
I have a question about calls to the API and how these are measured. I noticed that the URL Metrics calls allow a batch of multiple URLs. We're in a position where we need link data for multiple websites; can we request a single row of data with link information for multiple URLs, or do we need to request a unique row for each URL?

What period of time do OSE social media metrics represent?
When one hovers over the social media metrics in Open Site Explorer the popups say that the numbers represent the total number of times the URL has been posted, liked, tweeted or +1'd. Those numbers are [appear to be] more dynamic than the data in OSE's other reports and seem to get a fresh analysis each time the URL is entered. So I'm wondering what period of time is it counting in it's "total number of times" determination? If I'd like to track the data to get an idea of, say, total number of Facebook Shares for a one month period, how often should I check the numbers?
