Woot! Finally got some linkbait out.

I have been working on a cool piece of linkbait for our real estate site and I finally bit the bullet and published it last night.  I pushed out a few emails to some local media.  This morning I was woken up by a phone call from a local radio station wanting to interview me about my article!

I realized when I hung up that I didn't ask for a link or even a mention of the website.  Hopefully they will mention it so it will get more attention!

I'd love to hear your experiences in working with the media like this.

Congratulations on publishing, and the good response so far. Always a nice way to start a Monday!

You might still send something to the radio station. They could hardly complain about you wanting to make their lives easier with some written (email) information that they don't have to create, and you could get in your links that way.

I used to work for a government agency and the media frequently called wanting information on one of our projects or a topic in the news.  To help them we always sent them pre-prepared information that they could publish verbatim.  If you do this they will love you and come back again when you have some thing else - but more important they will not write the story themselves and screw up your important message.

Include a couple of quotes from the director or CEO and then when they publish the article it will sound like they did an interview.
