Why doesnt Seomoz give daily ranking updates

Although a little obsessive I can't be the only one checking rankings on a daily basis. Indeed if such a practice was not widespread then software such as linktracker wouldnt exist. It's a shame that Seomoz has the functionality to check rank, however chooses to only do so once per week. Therefore we pay for tools such as link tracker in addition to Seomoz. Here starts a petition for daily updates!!!

I can answer from software development point. Querying Google is a funny business and can be a real pain to manage. If you change the ranking tracking to daily frequency to all users across the board that would add an enormous amount of new queries and would likely add significant cost to SEOMoz. I am not sure how they go about getting the serp data though (likely contracted out to a server farm like 99legs...etc, or managed in house). I agree daily tracking would give a nice fine grain resolution but is probably meaningless in the overall scheme of things.

It could, but it looks like it is moving to the Firefox toolbar tools soon. It's great for following those terms you are currently targetting, where subtle changes can make a difference in smaller markets than google.com.

Seomoz does give you a means to check ranking as often as you like - rank tracker in research Tools allows you to track keywords sitewide or page targeted and even store a history of 50 keywords. It has an advantage in that you can check how your keyword is doing in a different market say .co.uk by choosing google uk.
