Should I use a branded url or an exact match, and which branded url?
-
I'm thinking of changing my client's 37 character exact match url because it looks spammy to me and Google says it will be turning the dial down on exact match domains. I still see a lot of value in it however and it is helping this client, albeit very little since he is new in his arena. His goal is to rank for keywords in that url so I hate to lose the benefit of that url. As an example, let's say his url is floridahealthinsurance-quote.com
I'm concerned now because I plan to do some reputable and highly relevant link building and I'm afraid bloggers might hesitate linking to a spammy sounding url.
This client does have a branded url that is short and sweet, something like millerbenefits.net, and that redirects to the long url. Back linkers could link to the short url instead. However, it lands people on the site with the long spammy-sounding url and they may not want to be affiliated with it.
Something like millerbenefitsinsurance.com is available and it does have 2 keywords in it. Should I get that instead?
In short the question is this:
Should I change or keep floridahealthinsurance-quote.comIf I should change it, should I change it to:
millerbenefits.net
millerbenefitsinsurance.comThanks for your help!

It's about keeping short and making it sound good & trust worthy.
A suggestion would be millerinsurance.com you are selling insurance or another approach would be some idea that could become a brand ex: myinsurance.com make a brand out of the domain name.
As a guru here at SEOmoz said a domain name is only useful for [exact match] so unless you have floridainsurance.com you have to think the other way what people are searching make a brand out of that and work out seo to reach 1st position for optimized keywords.
millerbenefits.com - are people searching exactly that? if yes you're going to have a slight advantage but if no it would be the same as millerinsurance.com where people can remember your site from the first 5 sec on it.

Outbound Links as References - use nofollow or not?
Hey People 🙂 We run an ecommerce site and we research and wrote articles on health topics , and we post the references on the articles in posts ( Magento site / Wordpress for articles ) Should I be putting rel=nofollow in the outbound links or not? I have read a few different posts but none seem to definitively fit my situation. Kind Regards

Using brand domain for easy verbally said with 301 redirect to exact match.net for a site
I have recently bought an exact match.net for a keyword with no hyphens (on the fence about hyphens, read so many different views on here). From looking around it seems that not all solicited links that I am interested in use anchor text, but more significantly exact match domain would be like automatic anchor text when anyone from the general population posts a link to your site. I sell print books and am thinking of keeping the non-keyword domain in them so they are easy to say and type, while using the exact match domain for everything else online which the non-keyword domain would 301 redirect to. I don't do any programming and will use cPanel on my webhost to do the 301 redirect, I already have one 301 to go to the www subdomain so that would make two 301's. This might sound quite straight forward to many here but it's fairly new to me and I've not seen cPanel mentioned here yet, so was wondering if I am going about it the right way.

I wish to know how can I track users via what keywords they are searching and coming to my site exactly. These are non paid keywords.
There is a list of non paid keywords which is showing up but is that all ? I wish to know all the keywords people are searching and coming to my site? How can I accomplish the same.

Your Experience with Exact Match Anchor Text Penalties
Hi Moz community! I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a site penalized or dampened because of too many exact match anchor links or know of any examples. I don't want to be overly concerned about it if it is a low risk. Thanks!
