What would you do with unqiue articles?
-
Hi,
If you had 10 articles which are unqiue and around 400 - 600 words what would you do with them?
I personally would more then likely put on squidoo, wordpress, blogger, weebly, hub pages etc and orientate the setup of these around my target keyword so the title tags, urls, h1's and content are around the term and then place anchor text links (2 of them) in the content of each one.
I would then social bookmark each on the top 10 sites.
Because it takes so long for me to write the content I sometimes think would it be best to put on the onsite blog.
What would others do with this content, is there something else I could do with it that would have a great impact on rankings?

I agree with EGOL. When people say that your best content belongs on your website, I always ask myself - why are you spending time creating content that isn't your best? Whether you intend to put an article on your website or use it for a guest post opportunity, you owe it to yourself to only put your name on the best quality work you can produce. You'll create way more opportunities for yourself down the road as you start to be seen as an expert in your niche.

What I would do with them depends upon their quality.
If they are best-on-the-web for their topic I would post on my own site and recruit links into them.
If they are less than best-on-the-web for their topic I would improve them.
If they are really bad I would offer them to a competitor.

agree on the spinning. That word really has a black hat rep, i prefer to say "re-write". I have in-house content writers and myself, so its a tactic will utilized but closely monitored.
Link wheels are like link building. Most services are bad and spammy, but every once in a while, you find some decent ones. I have used one called PostRunner before, and they turn out some decent article & blog posting service.

mmm I know of both these methods and they kind of lean into the dark arts if you know what I mean.
The first one I would not do purely because I would be worried I had not spun the article enough but its till a known method just not for me.
Second one is interesting because I have heard pros and cons on link wheels, I have to admit mostly bad but some good.
-
I would do a couple of things:
1. Spin the articles for your own on-site blog. Although many SEOs look down on article spinning, a good article spun by a good source (even yourself) can double the content. That way you have something to still put on your site's blog, ans have something to marketing with that is not duplicate content.
2. Find a good link wheel service that will take your article and put then up on relevant blogs and social sites. (similar to what gianpeach said)

Yeap that is a very good option as well, thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Value of links within related articles sidebar
Hello, We have recently developed a related articles shortcode which we use on our wordpress sites. It allows editors to pull in links to x 3 related articles within their article which then appear to the side. I wondered if anyone is able to help advise about the link value of the links included within the related articles widget - i.e. will it carry the same link value as links within the copy? All I can see that's different is that the links are in an <aside>tag - is this going to make a significance difference do you think? Thanks for any help, Rachel </aside>

Adding backlinks in old articles?
I am trying to get a few more links to get a few of my pages to rank and I am thinking about adding some more backlinks on my own site on some of the old blog articles as well as some of my other related blogs. My question is - is it still beneficial to link from these articles that are say 1 year old or more, or would it be far more valuable to write new articles on the blog containing those same links?

What type of interlinks are best from articles I write?
Hi everyone, I run a job board (job website) - www.hawaiijobengine.com - and on the homepage I have 50 job categories ("Accounting / Finance" is one another is "Admin / Clerical" etc). I write your typical 400 word article length, giving career insight. Questions: should I 70% of the time try to use exact keywords in the article and link to those categories and other 30% of links should be to more specific search terms like "accountant in CITY NAME". The 50 categories already have decent rankings already and those are the once I am trying to push higher. Obviously, I also want weaker pages (more specific search terms) to rank higher too. I am writing genuine and original content, it is just a matter off whether I should adjust my keyword focus. On average how many different interlinks from a 400 page article is acceptable. Range of 1-3, with 2 on average sounding about right? Most of the times I have only 1 or 2 interlinks from each article, but once in a while I want to link 6-7 places within the article. I don't know if that is appropriate. thank you, Kristian

Article submissions for link building- what sites do you still use?
Hey Everyone, Long-time SEO'er first time poster here. I've been doing SEO for around 5 years but since starting my company The Search Ninjas last year I've been so bogged down with client work that I feel like I'm starting to fall behind on what's still effective from a link building perspective since all of my clients are local businesses and since we've been focusing so much attention on Google Places. My question is- are there any general article sites that you still use for SEO since the Panda update last year (that you firmly believe still offer "juice"), or do you mainly focus on niche sites and guest-blogging? I'm looking for ideas regarding how to find content submission opportunities for clients for link building purposes. I'm familiar with Ontolo and the Whitespark Link Prospecting Tool in terms of ways to find opportunities (and of course cherrypicking competitors' links using OSE and SEOSpyglass), any other recommendations? Best, George ps clients are in legal niche for the most part if that helps you out, but this is mainly me looking for everyone's general opinion.

Articles / Balanced Profile
Hello SEOMOZ, I have a couple of questions that I am hoping you all can answer for me. 1. We have heard that having anchor text links in article directories that are identical actually hurts our rankings and is considered spam at this point. We have hundreds of articles posted to various article directories throughout the web with this consistent identical anchor text. If we go into these articles and change the anchor texts, will the search engines recognize this change and give us credit for the new varied anchor text or will the credit stay with the original anchor text the article was posted with? 2. From here on out if we write unique stories with different anchor texts pointing to our website pages is their any gain to it and additionally will this even out our link profile? Or are placing anchor text links in article directories not the way to go?

Impact of Panda Algorithm Change on Articles Base.
I am a published author and researcher. All my articles are original content and high quality. If I am looking for backlinks by submitting high quality original articles to Articles Base, how will the panda algorithm change affect me? Should I be submitting articles somewhere else? If so, where? I greatly appreciate any suggestions you may have.
