Incentivisation Strategies for Social Sharing of Product Pages

Hey,
What are some great tips for gaining social shares on ecommerce product or category pages?
I understand great images and video will go along way, but it's difficult on a large scale ecommerce store.
Receiving an offer for sharing something is great - I honestly cant think of a way to track this strategy in a large scale manner. I can send an email after a purchase making an offer to go back to the page to share, but how would I track this?

I've been able to add Google Analytics tracking code to Facebook and Tweet buttons. The only one I haven't is Google Plus but activity on that can be monitored in Webmaster Tools.

Sorry - meant to share on facebook/twitter/etc. If you have a button on each page, you can add tracking code to it, similar to how you track the clicks on your emails.

The social sharing actions will occur in Google Analytics. Maybe if I dynamically tag each link I will see results in GA for the action.
Although, customers might be a bit freaked out if they land on a URL that has their own name!: www.companyname.com.au/facebook-like-offer?=utm_FB=utm_customer_name

Have you heard about infusionsoft? I personally haven't used them, but my chiropractor uses them and he loves them. He says that they track everything in your email and they track it by person; unlike other email marketing software programs. That's the only way that I can think of when you are tracking it by email. They also have filters; if a person does not share your facebook link, they will send them a second email that is more appealing. Hopefully this helps you out a little.

What do you mean by " to search on facebook/twitter/etc?" Yes, I want a sharing buttons on everypage. Im talking about how do you track the incentivisation.

You can have a facebook like button and a twitter button on (1) your website and (2) in each product page.
It seems that you are looking to gain more facebook users to like your page? If so, you can create contests on the page. My client just created a competition where you send in your email to join. She then puts your name on her wall and whoever gets the most likes to their name gets a $500 gift certificate to the store. So far, she went from 200 fans to over 1,100 fans in two days. Remember, in order for someone to like your page or your post; they have to like your page first.
I know that groupon and hautelook have an invite appreciation thing; when you invite friends and they join, you then get a discount. Each person has their own unique link and that's how it is tracked. There are some good email tracking systems out there, you just have to look.

How about adding a button to every product page to search on facebook/twitter/etc? Basically you want to make it as easy as possible to share, so with a button right there, it encourages people to share with friends. americangolf.co.uk does this well.

Give people a discount/loyalty points/competition entry or something like that if they share an item?
Couldn't you track it using a query string on the link that goes back to the page? Or add tracking links to the share buttons on your website?

Social in SERPS
Hi Guys, I have seen a lot of page 1 SERP exposure for branded terms due to social links being listed directly underneath the web listing - mainly twitter! I know there was an update to include this in SERPs at the beginning of the year but how do I specify or submit these to Google so my social accounts can too also appear directly under my web page? Yoast Social Accounts URL Section
Hi When you click: Social within Yoast plugin it defaults to 'Account' tab and displays a list of fields to enter your social media account urls. Sentence above list says: "To inform Google about your social profiles, we need to know their URLs. For each, pick the main account associated with this site and please enter them below" What does that mean exactly and does it effect links on the site etc or literally is just Yoast telling G ? Also if you have sub sites for different language versions (WP on Multi User setup), which in turn have their own language specific social media account versions , should you enter those urls in the sub site language version own Yoast plugin fields OR , as per "...pick the main account associated with this site and please enter them below" use the primary social account and not the language specific social account or just leave them blank ? Share This Count Vs Google Analytics - Why the difference?
We use the Share This facebook & twitter widgets on blog posts. Share this auto tags it in Google Analytics so we can see share count with in the analytics interface. Viewing the blog post I see the share counts as a lot higher than google analytics reports. Does anyone know why the count would be different?

Social mentions and 301 to new domain
Hi all, I have noticed that when moving to a new domain your normal links will move along with you when you set proper 301 redirects and use google webmaster tools. But I'm under the impression your twitter mentions, fb likes etc. on the different pages will be lost... I'm looking forward to your comments and ideas. Cheers

URL's for videos to increase page value and social sharing value
Hello Everyone, We recently developed videos for all of our products. Upon clicking on each video, we have the video popping up in a lightbox. The videos are hosted on Amazon s3. We would like to implement social sharing for each video and to do so, we are going to have the video load on each page upon being clicked using jquery. My question is how we should structure the urls so that the actual product page gets the share value. So for example, if the page is www.website.com/product1.aspx should we have the video be www.website.com/product1.aspx#video and ensure there is a canonical url on each product page so that the benefit is given to www.website.com/product1.aspx Or is there another way that anyone would recommend doing this? The videos are AMAZING and I'd like to ensure that as these videos are shared on social networks, that the value of the share is directed to the actual product page. Any ideas mozzers? Thanks!
