Capitals in Title tags and meta descriptions and their effect on SEO
-
It often the case that a page of serps will show up very similar title tags eg Cheap Widgets | Widgetsrus.com format, written partly for humans and partly for SEO.. Although against Googles best practice and indeed a violation of their adwords policy would using in CAPS in title tags reduce ranking (whilst increasing visibility and CTR)?
-
Like Daniel suggests I wouldn't use this as a long term strategy, to me it would send a pretty strong signal that the site is spammy.
On the other hand, if you are comfortable with it, you could always give it a test and see what CTR difference you get.
-
Im thinking of brand names in particular eg CHANEL, GUCCI etc are all caps brand names, however most title tags only cap the first letter. As to attracting the right kind of people? There is no 'wrong' type of people if they purchase your product?
-
Not that I'm aware of.
Even if it isn't penalized, I don't see it as a long-term strategy with the rankings focus on User Experience post-Panda.
And are you going to attract the right kind of people to your site with all caps?
-
Agreed, though in the event that you are position 4 or 5 it might be worth testing? as many of the general public are less sensitive to CAPS than more web savvy folk. Otherwise, you're not aware of any negative effect in terms of google ranking factors
-
You would be different, but making your titles in all caps appears spammy.
Do you click on emails that are in ALL CAPS?

Recommended basic credible SEO on youtube
Hello, I'm teaching a friend SEO and she wants very basic SEO videos on Youtube. I looked for some but there was a lot of incorrect information that some people were giving out. Does any experienced SEOs know of credible, basic SEO videos that the SEOs that make them don't give out backward information. Good quality videos. I will keep looking, but please, if anyone has some gems send them my way. Thanks. Bob

Precise or longer title for service page?
i am a little confused as to how should i create my META TITLE and on page h1 title
Keyword Research | | sagive
for a service page... Say that page offers "web marketing" service... i know or think i know that precise title ranks higher
on the search results but its less appealing Meta title example:
web marketing | company name On page title:
Web marketing Now, the more compelling title would be of-course longer but less focused 1. Do you think i can test it without hurting my positions permanently?
i have query (i see the stats on Google webmaster tools) that
i get 20,000 views monthly but only 1% clicks... 2. how would you build a title for such a page (meta and onpage)? Would really appreciate your professional view Best regards, Sagive SEO.0 -
SEO beginner- How to decide what keyword to go after?
I started a website called Think and Grow Entrepreneur. I'm not sure where to start with Keywords and which ones to go after. Should I input the same keywords over and over my blog to rank in those or should I look at every post as a single entity and try to rank different keywords in each blog. Ideally I would like to rank for the keyword Entrepreneur, but there are already very powerful companies with the same keyword. How should I go about this situation? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

The importance of meta keywords
Hello, I am looking into Meta keywords in the attempt to understand their importance. I have been reading about this in several blogs and get the feeling that the general view is that they are no longer very valuable. Some say it is because Google and Bing no longer use them, that in terms of SEO they carry little importance and that they are a great indicator to your competitors about which keywords you believe are important... My question is this: Without Meta keywords, how do you deal with misspelt search keywords on your website? For example, if you were looking for a product called 'El Mundo en Espa_ñ_ol' but spelt it using the normal 'n' instead of the Spanish 'ñ', and the keyword 'Espanol' was not included in the Meta keywords, would you still find the product? English speaking people commonly search without the ñ because this is more convenient to them. So how can I make sure that the page is optimised for these type of common misspellings? Thanks!!!

Effective keyword grouping - any suggestions?
I have a specific question regarding keyword grouping. Whenever I've have compiled a (long) list of keywords, I create smaller groups of keywords that can be targeted by a category or page. However, I find this to be quite labour-intensive as I'm doing this work manually through filtering in Excel. To illustrate what I mean, here's an example of a keyword list: baby shirt
Keyword Research | | DeptAgency
t-shirt for baby
pregnancy shirts
pregnancy gifts Normally I would create a list of root words, like this: baby
shirt
pregnancy
gift I would then manually filter the list on each root word and copy the filtered list to separate tabs, which would result in lists like this: baby
baby shirt
t-shirt for baby shirt
baby shirt
t-shirt for baby
pregnancy shirts etc. As you can imagine, this is a lot of work. So my hope is that you can help me out with a smart tool / Excel formula / ??? to automate this process. Thanks for any suggestions!0
