One Page desapeared from Google results over the weekend.
-
Has anyone had this happen? My page (just one page) is gone from the search results.
Not only did we lose our position in Google (we were #9) now the entire page is completely gone from Google index. However, It is on the first page of Bing and Yahoo. We did have our server down from Friday to Monday.
I went into Google webmaster tools on Monday and saw a big X next to sitemap. It said HTTP Error 404 detected on August 21, 2011. So Google went in on Sunday and came up with the error. But why only one page is missing and all the other pages still show up?
I was thinking that page was blacklisted by Google but when I went to Webmaster Tools to listen to "Requesting reconsideration of your site" video all they talk about is the "site" being blacklisted not a particular page.
Any one has any ideas?

we submitted XML sitemap yesterday..

The "notification" process for Google is to submit a site map. If you haven't done so already, submit an updated sitemap.
The only other thing that would help is building links to your missing page from authoritative sites.
I know you are frustrated and want this issue resolved immediately. This issue is why it is critical to have 99.99% server uptime, and for more money you can achieve 100% server uptime. Your site outage is the root issue. The missing page is merely a symptom.

thank you so much...our page is highly visited and aside from our main website is the second visited page.
what can i do to notify Google that the page is missing.

404s are a normal part of internet life. When Google determines a page no longer exists on your site (404), it will remove the page from it's index.
But why only one page is missing and all the other pages still show up?
That is normal. Google does not crawl your entire site when it visits. It may crawl a single page. It depends whether they are following a link from another site to your site, or if the crawler is making a visit to crawl your site. Even if the crawler is visiting to crawl your site, only a small percentage of your site is normally captured on any single crawl.
If your site is operating normally now, you can expect your pages to re-appear in SERPs over the course of the next 30 days. The amount of time it will take depends upon your site's DA. The basic question is how important your site is to Google. SEOmoz is considered important so pages appear within a couple hours. Other sites are less important and pages may take several weeks to appear.

Gateway Pages
I have read that gateway pages are frowned upon by the search engines? If you have multiple domain names that are related to your main website what is the best way to get the greatest use from those related domain names? Thank-you.

Is there any value in trying to add a page to wikipedia
Hi Mozzers, My manager has asked me this question and I'm not quite sure how to answer it. "Is there any value in trying to add a page about our company to wikipedia" I would have thought it's very difficult to get a page to stick in wikipedia if it's about a company that isn't huge (like Apple or Google). Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Personally I think it's potentially quite risky and unlikely to bring much traffic (because I can't imagine anyone would visit a page on wiki about my company - not that my company isn't great, because it is, it's just not HUGE or global...) I think a wiki page could be a bit spammy! Would welcome your input, and I am happy to be proven wrong! Thanks, Amelia

Can i use the same keyword or similar keyword on title tag of multiple page ?
Greetings support, I would like to know if i can use similar keywords into my index title tag and than the similar keyword into the title tag of another page from the same site. Example:The site selling ''Dubai Apartments'' ''Dubai Vacation Rentals'' ''Dubai Holiday Apartments'' and ''Dubai Accommodation'' and would like to rank the index page for ''Dubai City Apartments'' and ''Dubai Accommodation'' and the category page /apartments/ for ''Dubai Apartments'' Is this ok ? because I do not want to lose the rank for the index page because it's already higher for ''Dubai City Apartments'' and ''Dubai Apartments'' I also have use this title tag on the home page: Dubai City Apartments | Dubai Accommodation | sitename brand and than i have category page such: /apartments/ title Dubai Apartments | Dubai Apartment Rentals | brandname /vacation-rentals/ title Dubai Vacation Rentals | Holiday Rentals Dubai | brandname /holiday-apartments/ Dubai Holiday Apartments | Dubai Vacation Apartments | brandname P.S. My index page is already rank for keyword such: dubai apartments, dubai holiday apartments, dubai vacation rentals and dubai accommodation but i want to know rank the category page. What are the best/ your favourite brand pages?
I've got a meeting today where we are looking to come up with some ideas to redesign our brand pages which are currently a bit rubbish www.schuh.co.uk/brands/converse Does anyone have some great pages that I could look to for inspiration? Idealy i'd like to get not only get SEO benefit, but also be able to use them for PPC landing pages as well as the page giving some good info on the brands we are selling. It would be great to get video on the page but this always serves to either push the product further down or get lost at the bottom. Any ideas or examples would be much appreciated!
