Criteria of related searches

Google shows "searches related to keyword" at the bottom of the SERPs for some queries. On what basis does Google shows this ? search volume ?

Thanks a lot Barry for useful links.

FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU- Typed this out three times now and every time FF has crashed on me. Raging!
Anyway, one last try.
Yes, it's mostly search volume with a high QDF factor, I believe, stemming from - http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/06/fresher-related-search-suggestions.html
It includes lessons learned from - http://www.google.com/squared
Check this out - http://insidesearch.blogspot.com/2011/06/organizing-lists-of-related-searches_16.html
Also it's expanding into whole sites, along the lines of - http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/discovering-pages-similar-to-ones-that.html
I did do more commentary on each of them the first couple of times I typed it out, but you can read can get the gist of it yourself

Secondary related keywords
Hi, Let' say one of the topics I want to talk about is "wine tasting2. I do a search in the keywords tool and I find related keywords such as "wine tasting chicago" and all the words that I find do not apply to me because I do "wine tastings in Bordeaux". How do I deal in a situation like that ? Can I type in the keyword tool "wine tasting bordeaux" even though my topic is wine tasting ? I took "wine tasting" but I could apply that to the word "chateaux" where none of the related keywords apply to me. I run into issues when the topics are "large". The other question I have is still about "wine tasting" if I find secondary related keywords that apply to me such a "wine tasting in bordeaux", "wine tasting cellars" do I still need to add in my content the word "wine tasting" by itself in addition to the 2 related keywords or can I just only put the 2 related keywords ? Thank you,.

Google changes my title in search results randomly, any idea why?
hi all, i recently noticed google changing the title tag of one of my pages in search results for certain keywords... I've done a bit of a search and see its not uncommon, however from what i can tell they usually change the title if it is too long, or they seem to change the branding location etc... In my case they are litterally adding key words to it... Example - See Image 1 - This is my main keyword - the title displays correctly See Image 2 - Another keyword - see how google has added "irrelevant" keywords to the title Any ideas why this happens? fr0PIK7.jpg sv6zWOu.jpg

Ranking for broad search terms
Hello, ive been getting some good organic traffic lately, i always run the live real time analytics and have noticed that the site is ranking for very broad terms and not specific exact keywords that i have the pages optimized for. Is there a reason for this? thx

Accurate monthly search data
I have a search term that is only used widely for one month of the year (roughly) - that keyword is "ucas clearing" only really used in august. Looking at google's keyword tool it shows a monthly search figure of 22k and apparently this is the average across the year. Now, do google add up 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,264k,0,0,0,0 - divide by 12 and come up with 22k - or do they see that it isn't steady traffic and just ignore the 0 months and therefore 22k is actually about right? Many THanks for confirmation, Ally
