Guest Blogging - Build a relationship with a few blogs and post only there or post a few on as many good blogs as possible?
-
I'm curious which strategy is better in the short term and in the long-term? Part of my link building strategy involves contacting bloggers and posting some guest blogs on their sites.
Now there are advantages with posting on a few blogs and creating a link between you and the blog readers and the blog owner. It also saves time trying to contact blog owners etc.
However would my time be better spent contacting hundreds of blogs and seeing where I can guest blog and then post on as many as possible; in order to have a diverse number of links going back to my website?
What do you think is the best option and why?

I agree with Anthony. Focus on communities, forums and blogs that are highest of quality, in line with your market's interests and yours so you're more inclined to be consistent with your efforts to build links.

My short answer, which is also included in my YOUmoz post that got published today, 15 Smart Ways to Find Guest Posting Opportunities, is to do both.
Posting on a number of blogs helps build a large quantity of relevant, high quality back links. Some part of SEO, however big, is indeed a numbers game. You want to get as many external root domains linking to you as possible.
Posting on one blog, however, can help you build a following within their community. Particularly for A-list blogs in your niche, you will find that if you write multiple guest posts, stay active on the comments section of your guest posts, and interact with their community via social media, you will get (at least) as much benefit out of the branding and traffic implications of your guest posting strategy as you will out of the link you built. The SEOmoz knowledge base has a great thread on this exact topic.
If I had to pick just one, I would go deeper into just a few blogs, assuming that these blogs truly are authority websites in your industry. I understand that it can be difficult to have the time to create all of this high quality content, so you will need to prioritize, and so you may opt to focus on a few authoritative blogs at first, and then expand outwards.
Shamless Self-Promotion: If you're looking for ways to scale the development of high quality content, check out one of my recent blog posts, 3 Ways to Outsource High Quality Content Creation. Having the time to consistently write great content can be tricky, and these are the methods I use to help me out.

Posting on Private Forums?
I've registered a forum and they have private and general sections. I was wondering my posts on private forums with a link gives any value to my website? Does Google accept links from those websites? Thanks

India and Link Building
A client of mine has decided to work all Link Building through an India team that she's used for a few years. The problem that I'm having with this situation is that the link building list below contains quite a few 0/10 PR websites, spam websites, and websites that have no direct relation to the client's industry. Am I wrong in thinking that link building should be done to high PR, authoritative sites that are related the the client's industry? The link below will take you to the Google Doc that contains all links built for this client. I would love it if someone could take a look at that list and tell me what they think. Is this recipe for disaster or great link building? https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4a0JOKKFu0SUFZRbFRBNUZJekE Thank you so much!!!

Too Many Links???
SEOMOZ is telling me I have more than 100 links on quite a few of my pages, and I cant seem to find out what links they are finding. Like for instance on this page http://standupguys.biz/what-we-haul/commercial-junk-removal-services/computer-removal-recycling/ It is telling me that I have 117 hyper links (which is WAY too high). Can anyone explain to me where these are coming from, and how I can avoid this?? Please and thank you.

What are the pros and cons of having comments posted on your blog?
I get a lot of spammy comment comments to my blog which I trash, but I'm also particular about the comments I allow. How do the search engines regard these comments, should I allow more to be posted as it looks like I'm getting more traffic. And by posting these comments, who benefits from the backlinks?

Contests For Link Building?
I have been seeing a trend that a lot of people are hosting contests with prices in the high end XXX $ or low end XXXX $ as the first price. Usually it's arranged via a number of sponsors and you'd have to link to all the sponsors using the keywords given. Some people provide a text file with everything pre formatted to make it easy. I have seen several sites paying 50$ to be part of a contest so that they can get some link juice from participating sites. Since the prize money is huge, many people will participate and will get lot of links. There was a person who built an entire business out of this (Not naming him. He's still doing the same thing but with a small twist). What's your take on such strategies? Don't you think it's high time Google caught these sort of "link schemes"?

Interlinking articles and posts
I have many articles and blog posts on my site. How should I interlink them for the MOST benefit to my root domain. For example, should I consider pointing pages with higher SEOMoz page rank or trust to those with lower rank? Or does that not matter?

Commenting on an old post
I've been playing around with OSE and found one of my competitors has a decent link coming from a post created in 2008. It only has two comments, one from my competitor with a link back to his site. The page has a PA: 55, it seems like an easy link but since the post is 3 years old im not sure its appropriate even though commenting is open. Any thoughts?

Are Guest Post Anchor Text Links Evil?
Hi, In the recent free SEOMoz webinar about What's Ailing the Linkgraph, Rand Fishkin says that corporations try to get anchor text guest posts on his wife's blog and he suggests this is manipulative. Do you agree that anchor text links in guest posts are manipulative? Do you think that Google will take action against this tactic in the future? Thanks!
