Should I build internal links to my homepage?
Ive done a lot of internal linking before but its always been for other inner pages but now I need to do it for a websites homepage but this got me thinking if its even worth doing and should I be doing it at all? For the first question I was thinking that surely the homepage has more authority than any of my inner pages so how would internal links from inner pages help and for the second question Ive read a few posts like this Kissmetrics one here where it says you shouldnt do it. There are two types of links you should avoid using in your content: Homepage. Most sites have too many links to the homepage as it is. Using Online Communities for link building..
Hello. All I have a question in regards to online communities. Is joining an online community( i.e. Industry related forums, commenting on industry related news sites, responding to blog post) a good way to do link building?  I don't mean in the sense of spamming but actually being an active part of a online community and adding valuable to the conversation. I have tried posting blog post on a industry related online community: biggerpockets.com  but this site does not show up as a link when I pull an open site explorer for my website. Any suggestions ?

Webmaster Tools Links
Am new to SEO so please be kind. I am working on link building (amongst other things) and notice that Google Webmaster Tools displays different links (and with different values) than Open Site Explorer. Some high value links which show up on Webmaster do not appear on OSE and vice versa. Which is the most accurate?
