Haven't seen anything like this
-
I personally haven't seen anything like this before. I am optimizing my first worldwide page. The rank checker at seomoz and another rankchecker as well says that I achieve rankings in the Us and in the UK as well for my 2-3 word terms. However if I copy a paste a whole sentence from either of my pages (8-10 words) google can not find my site. If I put the terms in quotes than it is ok, but it still cannot find the home page. Not any sentence with or without quotes from the home page, although this page has the most incoming links.
Anybody any idea how can it be?

That's a spot-on answer from Alan.
A search term without quote marks is known as a Broad search, that's where you'll have loads of competition for any popular words that are included.
Put in the quote marks and you'll have a Phrase search, where the all of the words in the phrase form an actual part of the search, though not necessarily in order.
Put the search in brackets [keywords here] then you'll have an Exact search.

Simon

When doing long tails searches you need to make sure there is no really competitive keywords in there.
Imagine you have this sentence on your website
Some obscure words real estateDoing a search for the first 3 words you would expect to rank
Some obscure wordsExtend it to the full sentence, and you have a lot of competition
Some obscure words real estateGenerally for a long tail you expect to rank, if you don’t have highly competitive keywords included, but always do a few to get a better idea

Hey guys, any advice on why my 'search analytics' in Google Webmaster tools is blank with no data?
I have added all the website versions into Google web master tools and I have no crawl errors. When I click on Search traffic these pages are blank - search analytics, & Mobile usability. And When I fetch as Google the status is constantly saying me 'temporarily unreachable' - any help would be greatly appreciated.

Organic impression limit. Has anyone seen this before or could give some insight?
Hey, I've been trying to grow my sites organic traffic but its like I've hit an organic cap on impressions. The site is about 4 months old and this period that I hit its limit I did not do any social shares or upload any new content. But is this normal? The site did get a Facebook like on the 26th of August. 3tzF2Cp

What are all the 5's in SEO Queries in Analytics?
Every small business client has the same thing. 5 impressions for keywords, row after row, every single month. Why exactly 5 and why month after month the same thing? I see this in every local business I work in - and for very important phrases! It's gotten to the point that I think those are fake and I just look at the impressions that have numbers great than 5. Obviously I have to get their impressions up, but what am I to believe about these?

Is real google bot like "fetch"or more like "fetch & render"?
In GWT we have two options to mimic googlebot visits, "fetch" and "fetch and render", but when the real googlebot visit a page, is he behaving like the former or the latter? I can see fetch does fetch only the html, while fetch and render does fetch .js and .css as well. But what does the real googlebot does? I have checked the web server logs, and I can see the real googlebot sometimes request the .js files too, but not every time it visit a page, sometimes it does, sometimes it does not. Has anyone figured out when googlebot actually request javascript files?

Schema Rich Snippet Markup tool is validating the markup but it says it isn't in Webmaster Tools.
All my Schema Rich Snippets are being validated in the webmaster tools Rich Snippet tester tool here http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets But when I go take a peek at the new tab in Webmaster tools when I'm signed into my analytics account it shows there are no active Markups on my site. Has anyone else been having this issue? If it says it's working in the Google tool from the link above should I even be worried if its not showing up when I'm signed into my analytics account? Thanks.

Google News traffic spike mystery; referring URLs all blank, Omniture tags didn't fire.
Our content is occasionally featured in Google News. We recently have had two episodes where this happened, but (a) nearly all the referring URLs were blank, and (b) our backend logs show 3-4x more requests for the article in question than Omniture does. In other words, hundreds of thousands of visitors requested a URL from our site (as proven by the traffic logs), but don't seem to have come from Google News (because HTTP_REFERER was blank), and didn't execute the onpage javascript tag to notify Omniture of the pageview. Perhaps this has nothing to do with Google News, but it is too strong a coincidence that the two times we were on there recently, the same thing happened: big backend traffic spike that is not seen by Omniture. It is as if Google News causes browsers to pre-fetch our article without executing the javascript on the page. And without sending a referring URL. Has anyone else seen anything like this before? Stats from the recent episode:
Reporting & Analytics | | mcglynn
- 835,000 HTTP requests for the article URL (logged by our servers) - these requests came from 280,000 distinct IP addresses (70% US) - the #1 referring URL is blank. This accounts for 99.4% of requests. Which, in itself, is hard to believe. These people had to come from somewhere. I believe browsers don't pass HTTP_REFERER when you click from an SSL page to a non-SSL page, but I think Google News doesn't bounce users to SSL by default. That said, we do see other content pages with 70-90% blank referring URLs. Rarely 99+% though.0 -
