Blog Anchor Text SEO Query
-
Apologies if the following is a basic question but I am just starting out with SEO and I have seen this quite a lot recently on sites I have been on.
My question is if you have a self hosted blog e.g. blog.site.com or site.com/blog and you use keyword anchor text in your blog post does that bring SEO benefits in itself or does the blog post have to be shared/commented by readers to have an effect? I have seen/heard of many sites spending a lot of money getting copy done or spending their own time and resources starting a blog but the blogs remain unshared or comment-less.
I am starting my own blog to go with my social media and website so I wanted to establish the basics.
Thanks in advance guys.

When you create a blog you should first choose a "target". what is your blog' s purpose?
1. If you wanna have a blog just for getting visibility, you should write almost 1 article per day and post it in your blog.
Write article that follow the topic of your site but "dropping" most searched keyword in your content2. If you wanna have just backlink, use your energy and your content posting your article in guests blog.
I see a lot of blogs that set theirs link "do-follow". If you don't want to see your page rank improve and don't let your blog
being filled of stupid/no sense fake (SEO) comments, i think that you should keep no-follow setting. -
This is my school:
- Make the blog "do-follow". The default is "no-follow".
- Install all-in-SEO plugin.
- Submit it to do-follow directories.
- What do you want, more indexed pages, or more links? - Do it /blog for more pages, and blog.site.com for more links.

Mobile Version SEO question
Hi there, Quick question on mobile SEO. Basically, I don't think I can effectively format my mobile website design unless I just build it as a collection of pictures. This way it'll be possible to format so it doesn't look a jumbled mess. My question - if my mobile version is just essentially HQ screenshots/pictures put together, how will that affect my SEO for mobile? PS if anyone has suggestions on how I can design my mobile version without affecting desktop I'd appreciate it. I'm using shopify and across many of the themes I've tried whatever I design on desktop has to format on mobile as well. To my knowledge only wix allows you to independently edit the mobile and desktop versions.

Best SEO Approach for Scanned PDFs
I've just found a large number of great technical papers that we have written over the years. They are all scanned pdf's but still relevant. Currently they exist as a download but it seems to me that as each is approximately 5000 words of unique content we ought to be able to get some mileage out of them So I'm thinking of OCRing them, editing and putting them up as blog post with lots of links (10 - 20 max over the post length) to product pages (as it discusses a lot of the technical aspects underlying the products). Is this the best way of maximising benefit from them? Are there any other ways that would be good to use them?

Is this a worthwhile SEO tactic?
Many 'list' articles break down so that number one is on page one, and you are asked to click 'Next' to see number two. Number two is on page two, etc. For example: http://www.prevention.com/health/health-concerns/12-replacements-high-cholesterol-foods Is this done simply to keep bounce rate down? Is it something I should try, or is it frowned upon in any way? Will it help bounce rate? If it's a good practice, how would I do this in a Wordpress blog post? Thanks!

Duplicate Content From Huffington Post Blog
A client who writes blog posts for Huffington Post also wants an identical version of the blog posted to his personal site. Do you think there could be a problem of being punished for duplicate content? Would a better SEO practice be to have the client do an on-site blog just linking to the Huffington Post blog and providing information about it?

Simple question: How many words optimal for blog posts
Hello, We're adding a blog to one of our sites. How many words should be in a blog post for it to be optimal for the search engines? If it varies from industry to industry, please give a couple of examples. We were going to do 500 words but that seems a bit long. Thanks!
