How do you get your content ideas?
-
What kind of research tactics are the best for finding great ideas for content or articles? What tools are the most helpful?
-
One thing I like to do to find fresh content to write about is the following.
Set some google alerts for topics in your own industry as well as vertical industries. When you get the alerts you will be able to sift through them and find new stories, products, happening etc.
This can give you things to talk about as well as gives you more insight into what is going on in your industry. There have been many times where I have also discovered other things I should be doing in my business this way.

Take a look at what major PR companies do for their clients - the kind of features, case studies, etc., they get published on and offline. Take a look at case studies on PR company websites, and also check out award winning PR campaigns via PR awards sites.
-
Depends what you are doing content writing for. If its a product - describe all the uses, color, size and tons of other information.

Removing old content
Ahoy! Variously I have heard the opinion that content which does not generate regular search traffic (let's ballpark it at >10 views in any given month) should be noindexed or even removed. Allegedly this would improve the overall quality of the site, rankings and traffic. I remain doubtful. What would you do if the interest in a given matter goes down over time for any (most) given topics of your content and is replaced by "newer" specific interest? Concrete example: I have a website about (book) reviews. Naturally, there will always be new books; old books are not in the media as much and "forgotten". Nevertheless, the reviews (all unique, based on really having read the books, no trace of the standard back cover copy) are obviously still there. Personally I feel that they do not really lose any value - they are still reviews of that one book, even though it is not the most recent one. So, what would you do: Deindex "older" book reviews after a certain time? Even remove them completely? Just let them run? I am looking forward to your opinions - and even your experience if you have done something like this! Nico

Am curious to get the forum's opinion on content syndication services like SYNND . Has anyone tried them or any other content syndication networks. Does the forum have any recommendations for good quality syndication networks that can be used to distribute content to quality sources.

Dear Expert, I use several tags in my single post (www.rumahapp.com), for example when i post something about new game release i would use these tags: Publisher name, game rating and game genre. The problem is seomoz crawl my page and said that i have duplicate content between http://www.rumahapp.com/tag/com2us/ and http://www.rumahapp.com/tag/homerun-battle-2 how do i solve this? is this mean that i shouldn't use tag in my post? thank you
