Best approach to create a mobile version of a website
-
Hi all, I have a customer that wants to create a mobile version of his website, he wants to create a subdomain to redirect visitors to the mobile version and this mobile version will be a separate folder hosted on the same hosting.
I'm seeing really good things from frameworks like JqueryMobile but I thinks they are not really SEO friendly since they load pages with Ajax.
So, the question is: its ok to use this kind of frameworks or should I create all the html and css by myself?
I'm really looking forward to use the frameworks, since its faster and less time consuming than creating the whole site with html. But I don't want to waste time if it will not be SEO friendly.
Thanks in advance

We went the simplest route, while the Mobile browsing community is still gaining momentum.
However, that time is upon us.
I would check the Google Analytic and see who's and what devices are visiting your site right now, and decide how sophisticated this area of the site should be.
Hope this is helpful, goodluck

Best Tool for Retrieving Multiple URL Word Counts in Bulk?
I am doing some content analysis with over 200 URLs to go through! Does anybody know of, or can recommend any bulk on-page word count checkers which would help with the heavy lifting? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

301 or Keep 2 Chocolate Best Sellers SEO?
Hi All, So we have two best selling organic chocolates that are very similar. http://www.santabarbarachocolate.com/bulk-organic-dark-chocolate-72-without-soy-lecithin/ and http://www.santabarbarachocolate.com/bulk-organic-dark-chocolate-72-without-soy-lecithin/ Because we are a small company it would be ideal to offer only one of these chocolates due to the cost of making it from the raw cacao. This is the question: From a SEO page rank perspective, do we get better rank by 301 redirecting one chocolate to the other thereby generating more traffic through traffic consolidation to one chocolate. Or do we get better SEO rank by having two chocolates on the site that both get clicks with different content? Basically it is a question of divided forces. Thanks for your help, Jason

Google Website title not showing correctly
Hi Im not sure what triggered this - Page title is showing up as 'Isagenix Australia' while it should be <title>Buy Isagenix with 30 Day money back guarantee & Free Shipping in June</title> Previous title was 'Isagenix Australia - Read Isagenix reviews & buy isagenix products' but now it seems to have a mind of its own. Any suggestions would be helpful

Google's mobile-friendly update. How significant is the impact for us?
Hi guys. Recently I got an email from Webmaster-tools saying our site is poorly optimised for mobile devices, and that it’s going to heavily affect rankings from April 21st. I’m worried to say the least. We literary cannot afford a hit on traffic at the moment 😞 We rank well for niche terms like ‘customised diary’ and ‘personalised diary’. So question... Because we rank well for these very specific searches will we still take a hit on rankings after the update? Won’t our high relevancy for those search terms be enough to keep us high in the results? Also, do you know if this change is specific to the users device? E.g) Someone on a mobile device will get mobile-friendly results, whilst users on a laptop will get different results altogether? I'm just trying to get a sense of how much this update will effect us. Any isights, suggestion, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Our site. Thanks in advance. This community is invaluable to us 🙂 Isaac - TOAD Diaries.

Meta Title, Meta Description in Mobile Version
Hello all! We all know that having a responsive theme, with the same URL as the desktop version is what search engines prefer to best index our sites. But how is it when it comes to Meta Titles and Meta Description. Should we use different Metas for mobile visitors? Regards!

Best practices when targeting a different country and language completely.
Hi, I have just recently built a shopping site which is targeting users from the UK, built in opencart. Now I want to expand the site and also target customers in Thailand, for Thailand users they will need the site in Thai & English language. I was wondering what would be the best option to do this, taking into account best possible practice V's time involved. As I can see it have only a couple of options really. 1. Add a new language to the existing .com site. This seems to be the easiest and fastest option. 2. Clone the site and launch on a .co.th domain with Thai/Eng text option. Would their be any major benefit ranking wise as to having a co.th separate site. Or any duplicate content potential issues. Bit of a noob so don't be afraid to point out the obvious. I did have search and could only find topics relating to eu languages and GB v US. Is their anything extra that has to be taken into account considering the massive differences between UK and Thai. Thanks you for any guidance, Ian

Best Practice: Should We Always Make No-Follow for External Links from Blogs?
Hi Mozers, I have few questions: 1. If I am allowing advertising on my blog and people advertising by placing Ads, Contextual links in Posts, Should I make them No-Follow? If Yes, then I might lose a good amount of income coming from Advertising. What is the best practice without loosing Organic rankings. 2. If I make all the External Links No-Follow (simple wordpress plugin can do), then I may not have anyone to advertise on my blog. What is the advantage that I am going to get? 3. Keeping the Do-Follow on all external links, how it will effect my blog? when there is no spam and all quality content on the blog. Thank you

Product Has Many Fitments - Is it ok to create a page for each fitment?
Hello We are working on a site that sells motorcycle parts. The site sells some parts that fit several different motorbikes e.g. a motorcycle cover that fits many bikes. We know that when a customer searches they usually search for "BIKE MAKE & MODEL Cover" e.g. "Yamaha R1 Cover". It would be silly to simply list every bike the cover fits in one advert as the list would be far too long so my question is would it be acceptable to create a separate product page for each fitment e.g. "Yamaha R1 Cover", "Yamaha R6 Cover", "Kawasaki ZX9 Cover". I realize it is duplicate content and yes I suppose it will affect Google search results so would we be in line for a penalty? There could be hundreds of pages. We do not want the site to be removed from the index but we do feel that this is a sensible way of doing it as it would help the sites customers no end. Thanks
