Where can I find an SEO mentor?
-
I've been having difficulty finding an SEO mentor that can answer my questions and rate the strategy that I'm currently using, as well as bouncing ideas off their experience.
Basically, most SEO companies will not want to do this, and will more likely want to sign you up for a monthly plan in link building, however I want to learn SEO on my own with my team, and many companies in Sydney, I guess, see us as competition and don't want to reveal their 'secrets'.
I've read a bunch of books on SEO and we are starting our SEO campaign now, however having someone to speak to now and again to get feedback on our strategy would be invaluable, however is proving very difficult to find.
On one hand, I know I just have to take action towards link building and other things,
however on the other side, it would be good to have someone to give a helping hand and bounce ideas off who has experience. If someone is interested in becoming a mentor for myself as I work to build my digital agency in Sydney pleaes get in contact with me. The pay is $30 - $40p/h depending on experience.

Have you considered something like job shadowing? Or going about it like a job seeker?
I'd also suggest attending meetups or conferences with other SEOs and making friends, and then from that budding friendship, develop the kind of relationship where you can bounce your ideas off others.
I personally don't believe that a mentor is someone you can buy.

The pay is $30 - $40p/h depending on experience.
This rate is way way low.
It might attract someone with very little experience - but if you are trying to build a digital agency and build expertise for you and your staff then you should be hiring an expert.
Consider multiplying your rate several times and hiring someone who will get you started properly. Take out a loan or work a second job if you must. You need someone who really knows what he/she is doing.

what i feel is its better to read as much as we can and share the knowlede in forums like seomoz.. i dont know how much it will work the 30-40 $ thing.. becuase the SEO guru's or so called experienced persons are more active forums like this.. (just my opinion)

Anybody good makes more than $30-40 per hour. You should consider offering a trade your grunt work for tricks sent your way.

Can someone explain what is exactly a vanity url and how to make it work?
Hi guys, Can someone explain me exactly what is a vanity URL and how to track it on google analytics? All I know is that these URLs are for tracking offline marketing campaigns such as contest/promotions. Also, would it make sense to create an unbounce campaign to get that vanity url and track it via Google analytics? Thank you Mozzers!

Roger, Can You Please Help Get Me in Mozcon?
I am a newbie to amazing tools like Moz! Yup, I joined in December and there is no looking back and no regrets. Well, until now. Here’s my sad story. I have been hearing about Mozcon for months. And I have told a number of colleagues that I am definitely going to that! Especially since I have two reasons to go all the way to the Northwest in July… My 21YO son is a competitive snowboarder and video blogger living at Mt. Hood during the summer. I can visit him and go to Seattle for Mozcon.

When I checked the site for cost and tickets, the early bird incentive had already expired, so I figured I would pick up my ticket in July. I went ahead and booked the hotel and airfare from North Carolina. So, I am all set.
At the beginning of the month, I go to buy the ticket and they are SOLD OUT!
OMG!
I am already coming and there are no tickets for sale.
I had no idea that a workshop at the big Seattle convention center would sell out.
I know you guys are cool and that you have a super connected following, but SOLD OUT?
I had no idea. I wait listed myself, but I have heard nothing.
So… I am at the crossroads here…
ROGER! Can you please find just one more ticket for the newbie in North Carolina??
Please...
Please help if you can. So disappointed in NC~ Terry0 -

Can anyone recommend Boston/New England SEO conferences/events?
One of my goals for 2012 is to network more, so I'm trying to find some SEO conferences to attend this year. Unfortunately I don't have much of a travel budget, so I'm looking for events/conferences in the Boston/New England area. I'm open to both large conferences and small local events. Are there any Boston specific groups I should join?
