Should we be bracing ourselves for a YSE to OSE mass migration?
-
I was just thinking, now that YSE is finally about to become no-more, that's likely to mean OSE and Majestic get an influx of people who previously used that mostly... I wonder if there will be numbers enough to clog things up and slow things down?
Maybe it just seems like their are millions of us SEO's in giant herds marauding the plains of the web when in-fact there's not that many of us really, and we get a distorted, non-relative view of numbers due to being immersed in it.
There's definitely ten times more than there was three years ago... I know some of you old fogies (just kidding) have been going a lot longer than that but the UK had a tiny fraction of agencies offering SEO of what it does now.
*I reckon there should be a new question topic added for people like me, called random nonsense or something... I didn't know what to select for this question
-
Just FYI - our data scientist, Matt Peters, has written a great blog post about PA/DA that's launching in the next couple days, and that might help with this question.
-
Does DA and PA Seomoz parameters have all it takes to replace YSE?
I'll really appreciate your inputs!
-
You're right of course, they're exactly the same... I could have sworn there were more factors in one than the other a couple of weeks back.
No wonder you weren't sure what I meant, it made no sense lol
Thanks Rand

We've been noodling on some ways to make the on-page tool support multiple keywords. I think it's possible, but right now it's sitting behind a number of other priorities so could be a while. In the meantime, you can just hack it by running the tool for multiple keyphrases on a page
Not entirely sure what you mean by the second question... The ways the tool runs is precisely the same whether you're "in campaign" or using the "one-off" version. If you're asking which gets more runs, it's definitely the "in campaign" version.
Hope that helps!

Could be awesome for Moz... think of all those potential new Pro memberships! People that exclusively used YSE that now need an alternative, testing out OSE, seeing how good it is and checking out the 30 day free trial then staying once they realise what they've been missing
-
In the theme of Keith's "While I have your attention..." On the campaign on-page report cards, could we have something (at some point) implemented so that we can input upto three keywords instead of just one?
Also, are you aware that there are more results fed back for the on-page reports when using it as an external tool rather than going through the campaign manager?
Hehe you're going to wish you did answer the question in here as more people use the "While I have your attention..."
-
Thanks Rand...
Will do...

Are you getting inaccurate rankings in the web app? Or just the old rank tracker tool? If it's the latter, we haven't yet switched it to the upgraded version of rank data but if it's the web app, please write in to help@seomoz.org and give them examples of what you're seeing so we can try to sort out the problem.
Thanks!
-
Cheeky to ask I know but....whilst I have your attention...
Can we please, please have a data source/proxy for down under here in Australia for rankings - pretty please
-
Ha! We'll see. Glad you're enjoying it; we certainly are planning to continually invest in data quality, index size/freshness and functionality.
-
So does this ramp up the SEOmoz IPO timescale?
Seriously, OSE has been so much more than an alternative (and now replacement) to YSE - although I will always have fond memories (remember Alta Vista - I still have a soft spot) - as always, you guys are just way ahead of the curve...
-
Funny you should mention this. On a thread with some engineers last night, we noted that the shutdown could bring a lot more traffic, and they're planning to scale up the infrastructure (we're in the cloud so it's pretty much all on-demand anyway) to make sure no one has a subpar experience

Search Engine Watch published a "Farewell Yahoo Site Explorer" article today which touches on some alternative options here http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2126582/Yahoo-Site-Explorer-Shuts-Down-Today-What-Alternatives-Are-There
Having been in the SEO space for over ten years, yes the number of players has grown, but as they say, the cream always floats to the top...
-
SEO just did or is about to hit mainstream. Many more people know what SEO is and try their luck at it than even a year ago. So far OSE is holding up fine, and I don't see how that would change. I do not foresee a sudden explosion in use. (Unless Apple decides to put it into the iPhone, then people will use it, no matter if they need it or not)

Help regarding Backlinks DA
Hey I'm doing web optimization of my site Best Blender under $100 My inquiry is with respect to Backlinks. There are 2 things which can be seen in MOZ announcing 1. DA(Domain Authority) 2.Spam Score Presently how might I choose from which site would it be advisable for me to get Backlinks? From higher DA and Low Spam Score or Higher DA and High Spam Score? Does Spam Score will affect my Rankings or not? Also, my last inquiry is what number of Backlinks would it be advisable for me to make on everyday schedule? Respects,

Confused About Potential Spammy Inbound Link
I unsure how my page got backlinked on this "passive DNS" website: http://pdns.daloo.de/search.php?alike=0&q=66.96.162.137 This looks to be my only inbound link, so I am worried this is negatively affecting my site ranking. Is this 56% spam score link negatively affecting my website? If so, any suggestions? Any feedback or insight would be greatly appreciated as I am very ignorant to what this person's webpage is about and why my page was linked.. Sincerely, Hayden My website: https://cashflo.org/

How to Find A SEO Guru?
How to find a SEO Guru I am a looking for a SEO to take over our SEO needs for our website.I am not interested in learning SEO and would rather leave it to the pro's.We already have great traffic 800K+ monthly but we need to take it to the next level and beyond. I have searched through SEOMOZ and read articles everywhere and done all that, I think I am more confused now than when I started on how to find a great SEO. While their are plenty of great SEO guys out their a lot of them I don't feel comfortable putting our business in their hands.Their are some smaller SEO's and some shady SEO's that won't work for us.Then some just don't have the credentials or background for us to hand over our hard earned money and have the future of our businesses in their hands. We want someone who has worked on big projects and had great success and is a industry leader but is willing to work with me and be hands on just not send me reports and suggestions. I am Trying to find SEO guru who knows his stuff and knows it well.I know i will pay good money for this but would like to find some up and comers so I don't have to sell unborn children to afford their services. What would be a good way to a great seo maybe even a guru? Finding the right SEO has become a daunting task.

What SEO topics would you cover if teaching a College webdesign class?
Later this month I am guest teaching a class on best SEO practices for web designers at a local College. I wanted to see what topics others would include if you were doing an overview.

Why Does OSE (Open Site Explorer) have such little backlink data on russian sites in the google.ru index?
OK this seems v strange, but google.ru are indexing far more BLs in their SERPS for a widget than OSE reports. Very little data is found in OSE for russian based sites. Is this the marketing intention? (I could send raw data if needed!) What is filtering this vast google.ru data list out? Is OSE only catered for US/UK?

Has there been any feedback from Google regarding their mass mail blunder?
I received a mail yesterday from a Joseph Middleswart from Google welcoming me to the beta trial for real time analytics. But my enjoyment at finally being able to see what's happening with real time data on my site was tempered by the 100+ spam mails I received immediatly after from some of the 200 odd people he'd included in the bulk mailing. Coming less than a week after Google tells us it's withholding keyword data from GA in order to protect the privacy of logged in users, I'm absolutely dumfounded at their incompetence. How can they show such a flagrant disregard for my privacy in introducing a new service while dressing up a restriction on another service as a security / privacy matter? Did anyone else fall victim to this incompetence?
