Can I add NOFOLLOW or NOINDEX attribute for better organic ranking?
-
I am working on online retail store which is highly dedicated to Patio Umbrellas.
My website is on 2nd page of Google web search for Patio Umbrellas keyword.
I have one another internal page with Patio Umbrellas text link.
http://www.vistapatioumbrellas.com/21/patio-umbrellas.html
I assume that, Google have confusion to give rank for my keyword during Patio Umbrellas keyword.
I want to set NOFOLLOW attribute or NOINDEX FOLLOW meta for this page.
Will it help me to rank high for Patio Umbrellas keyword. My ultimate goal is to reduce confusion for Patio Umbrellas keyword.

It's sound interesting. I can go forward with Rel canonical...

Internal links with ancor text should'nt confuse the rank it rather "kill" the rank for the page with an outgoing link for that word.
Links will affect your rank though, work on accouring more quality links containing the ancortext "Patio Umbrellas".
I would'nt advice you to put NOFOLLOW or NOINDEX if you'r unsure rather use Canonical url it's a better solution.
Hope this helps.

Should I noindex WooCommerce subcategories?
What's the best practice these days for handling indexing of WooCommerce product subcategories? Example: in the sitemap we have:
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | btetrault
/product-category-a/
/product-category-a/subcategory-1/
/product-category-a/subcategory-2/
etc. Should the /subcategory-*/ be noindexed, canonical to parent, or stay as indexed? Thanks!2 -
Silo not ranking for main silo page - what can I do?
Hi everyone, I set up a silo for my page http://werkzeug-kasten.com/ . Unfortunately only the silos inner pages rank very good. These are for example http://werkzeug-kasten.com/suchmaschinenoptimierung-seo-freiburg/keyword-analyse/ for "Keywordanalyse SEO Freiburg" <a>http://werkzeug-kasten.com/suchmaschinenoptimierung-seo-freiburg/onpage-seo/</a> for "Onpage SEO Freiburg" ... but the silos main page <a>http://werkzeug-kasten.com/suchmaschinenoptimierung-seo-freiburg/</a> does not rank for "SEO Freiburg". Do you have any idea why that might be? Cheers, Marc

Internal Linking - Can You Over Do It?
Hi, One of the sites I'm working on has a forum with thousands of pages, amongst thousands of other pages. These pages produce lots of organic search traffic... 200,000 per month. We're using a bit of custom code to link relevant words and phrases from various discussion threads to hopefully related discussion pages. This generates thousands of links and up to 8 in-context links per page. A page could have anywhere from 200 to 3000 words in one to 50+ comments. Generally, a page with 200 words would have fewer of these automatically generated links, just because there are fewer terms naturally on the page. Is there any possible problem with this, including but not limited to some kind of internal anchor text spam or anything else? We do it to knit together pages for link juice and hopefully user experience... giving them another page to go to. The pages we link to are all our pages that produce or we hope to produce organic search traffic from. Thanks! ....Darcy

What is better for web ranking? A domain or subdomain?
I realise that often it is better put content in a subfolder rather than a subdomain, but I have another question that I cannot seem to find the answer to. Is there any ranking benefit to having a site on a .co.uk or .com domain rather than on a subdomain? I'm guessing that the subdomain might benefit from other content on the domain it's hosted on, but are subdomains weighted down in any way in the search results?

My organic traffic has died!! Why?
Hi there, I have recently updated this website, as in new design, new URL structure, the works. The old site before I introduced the new site was doing well, as in up and down around 2 000 visitors a day. The site sort of started to go a bit down the slightest bit just before we launched the new site on the same domain but nothing of any concern. We 301ed all the old URLs to their corresponding URL structure as to keep most of the link juice from the old site, however with the new site going live the begining of this month June 2014, till now the site has dropped off to just 200 per day. I have been searching high and low for an answer and have been comming up blank. Why could this have happened, what did I do incorrectly? www.zulu.org.za

Can cookies harm your webiste?
Hi mozzers, I am doing an seo audit and one of the components of crawlability in the audit template I have is: "Disable Cookies/Make Googlebot user agent", I am not quite sure why cookies could harm your SEO? Can someone explain me what problems can arise because of cookies? Does it prevent bots to crawl your website like .js on your nav? Thanks!

How can such a small company out-rank the big players?
I'm really puzzled how for many keywords the company www.leathersofaworld.com, a retailer of sofas is able to out rank very large companies such as DFS.co.uk and IKEA. They rank 1st for the phrase 'black leather sofas' and have done for a long time. They currently rank 4th for 'leather sofas' and don't seem to move. Having looked at their back links, I can't see anything special and their domain authority is only 25 compared to DFS which is 45. Can anyone help me with this?
