Tips For Writing A Mission Statement?
-
I'm getting ready to write up a mission statement for my new ecommerce website. I feel like I really need to set the tone of what we are all about.
Just wondering if anyone has any general tips for writing mission statements?
-
It's great to be at the beginning with a blank slate!
Here are a few ideas for you:
- Use the mission statement to explain in broad terms what need you are going to fill. Don't be too specific - your strategy may change. If you don't think that you could show someone the same mission statement in 10 years and still be relevant to your company, you're too specific.
- Think big.
- You should be able to hand your mission statement to someone who has never heard of your company and he should be able to see what type of company you plan to be and why you want to be in business.

How to Host Microsites: Mission Critical or Six of One / Half Dozen of the Other?
Hello, fellow Mozzers! Been racking my brain. Thanks for your help on this one! I am in the process of putting together several microsites for our marketing agency. The sites feature similar theme and design elements, but are focused on delivering a customized industry-specific visitor experience with unique navigation, brand messaging, services, case studies, etc. I am struggling with whether I should host as entirely separate websites, as subdomains of the parent site, or as separate WP installs in subfolders of the main domain. I have been leaning toward the sub-folder option to share domain authority and keep our SEO efforts consolidated. But I am also concerned that the microsite "home pages" will underperform as sub-folder pages, versus being an actual home page of a unique domain or sub-domain. Is this a six-of-one or half-dozen of the other situation, or are there some important considerations I'm missing here? Thank you for your help here!

Why has Google started to re-write my page titles?
Since earlier this week I've noticed that Google has started to re-write several of our page titles and I'm not entirely sure why - does anyone have any info? We are a UK business and currently have top spot for the keyword 'toilet cubicles' - however, our index.html page title has changed as follows: FROM: Toilet Cubicles | WC Panel Systems for Washrooms | Cubicle Centre TO: Cubicle Centre: Toilet Cubicles | WC Panel Systems for Washrooms Is this Google favouring a more brand-led approach to search? Be interesting to hear everyone's thoughts... Cheers, Craig.

Tips for maximizing MSN exposure
Hi all, My client’s site (carismaautodesign.com) has just been featured on the front page of MSN Cars, see here: http://cars.uk.msn.com/features/the-most-outrageous-car-interiors-ever#image=2 and http://cars.uk.msn.com/features/the-most-outrageous-car-interiors-ever#image=3 These two images feature the interiors designed by Carisma and, as expected, traffic has shot through the roof. MSN have not linked to carismaautodesign.com but have cited the brand at the footer of the images. Further down the page they’ve also linked through to Bing images on the product terms, example:- http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Carisma+Mercedes+Viano+&go=&qs=n&form=CARP My Question: Is there anything else we can do to maximise this exposure, on-site or off-site to ride the wave a bit longer? I guess this is not limited to SEO specifically, but online marketing techniques as a whole? Thanks, Woody.

Tips for promoting the blog section of our eCommerce site
Hi, With the recent Google updates we're thinking that unique content is more important than ever in order to gain high quality, natural links from genuine users. As such we're thinking that our blog (http://www.refreshcartridges.co.uk/igloo/) might be more important than ever. Don't be put off by the lack of Page Authority or Google Page Rank; we've only just moved to this address from the subdomain igloo.refreshcartridges.co.uk. The content is certainly rather niche; an article like http://www.refreshcartridges.co.uk/igloo/how-to-the-reset-purge-counter-on-a-brother-printer-with-a-numerical-pad/ will be helpful to thousands of users who own this particular range of printer but it's debatable as to whether it is sufficiently mainstream to be openly shared and linked to. We ping to sites such as Technorati, produce videos to accompany much of the content (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dxmm4-blN8&list=UUH93Kwax4CcEIAOsXWb6CiA&index=1&feature=plcp for example) and provide easy sharing buttons. I do however think that we could be doing more to actively ‘push’ this content on to potential customers. I'm not naive enough to think that niche articles like this will be enough to get hundreds of links and tens of thousands of reads but printer news, reviews and support is pretty much the only thing we can write about while being relevant to our core business. I would however like to get the best exposure that we can for these articles which is why I’m asking for your advice today. I would really appreciate any ideas you may have as to how else we could gain the best value from these unique articles and videos. I apologise for this being such an open ended question but any and all advice on how to maximise this resource would be appreciated. Many thanks!

Has anyone got any hotel (small) web marketing tips or tricks
I have a client who ranks well for his boutique hotel both in Google search and Google places. The problem now is he needs to fill his rooms next week (type of thing). We are down the Google Adwords route already. But clicks are super expensive (competing against the big hotels). We have also been trying to get his social media rolling and have started a light ad campaign on FB but I can't see clicks translating into our Google analytics account. (so not sold on it but is a lot cheaper than Google adwords) Next on the list is email marketing which we be getting ready for next week to his existing database. And we have been thinking about paid Press Releases but not sure if its worth it. (PRWEB or Prnewswire) One big bonus is he got a number 1 award on Tripadvisor a few months back (which radically spiked hits on site). So, a more long term solution is to approach media directly with a follow up story to the award but that's going to take a bit of time. Anyone had any experience with hotel marketing? Any insights would be great. Thanks
