Open Site Explorer Discrepency
-
Hi, I'm just starting to look into this tool as a result of the need to analyse some work that is being carried out on my site by an external SEO company that is charging absolute top dollar.
I'm sure it's a simple answer, but looking at the attached image you will see that the total links is shown as 219 which is described as links from all sources. However the report that is on the page shows only 44 links which would appear to be a report based on the same criteria. What is the difference in the numbers please?

Hi Simon,
I'm seeing some differences as well. Could you email help@seomoz.org with this information and open up a ticket with them, so we can track it and add it as a bug if need be? Q&A and Help are two different systems, and I don't have an easy way to turn this into a help ticket.
Thanks, and so sorry for any trouble this has caused.

Hi Keri,
That is what I thought, but unfortunately that shows 99 links from 37 domains that just adds to the confusion. In addition the text just above the summary showing 219 links clearly states that the data is for the page www.powertoolsdirect.com rather than the domain. So I am still confused I'm afraid,
Thanks, Simon.

Hi Simon,
I think what you're seeing is that you have 44 links to the exact URL, and 219 links to all pages in your domain, no matter the URL. If you look at the drop-down options in Open Site Explorer, you can change it to look at root domain which should show you all 219 links.

Multiple GA codes, one site.
Hi all, Is anyone running two GA codes on one website successfully? My organisation own a number of websites so we used to have one global GA code on all our sites to track global stats, and then we would also have site unique GA on each property to just track that one property. This worked fine, but of late we seem to be getting no data from the globally based code. Obviously, with the site-specific codes we can enter the name for that domain in GA but for the overall code, it is called 'all.com' I'm wondering if Google has now tied the GA domain to the code or if we are doing something wrong. All the codes are the same as they always were but have stopped working. As a stop gap, we have swapped to using Piwik as the all.com code. However, we are then comparing the stats in two different analytics programs so will get a different result. Also, it would be nice to be able to add the all.com to tools such as this to generate weekly reports. Anyone else having GA woe like this? Thanks. Carl

Why My Site Got 1000% increase in organic traffic from day to night?
Did Google run any update Monday or recently? My site www.shirts4geek.com, strangely had a 1000% organic traffic increase from day to night. I didn't do anything in this site for long a time... but Monday I had a lot traffic coming from organic and every other day this week the site is doing extremely well on traffic and sales. I'm ranking first page for many keywords relate to my products. I wish I could figure out what happens so I can replicate it. The site has very links and the On Page Optimization is kind of basic. Does any have any idea how it could be possible? Have any one seen something similar lately?

Duplicate Content From My Own Site?!
When I ran the SEO Moz report it says that I have a ton of duplicate content. The first one I looked at was my home page. http://www.kisswedding.com/ http://www.kisswedding.com/index.html http://kisswedding.com/index.html All of the above 3 have varying internal links, page authority, and link root domains. Only the first has any external links. All of the others only seem to have 1 other duplicate page. It's a difference between the www and the non-www version. I have a verified acct for www.kisswedding.com in google webmaster tools. The non-www version is in there too but has not been verified. Under settings for the verified account (www.kisswedding.com), "Don't set a preferred domain" is checked off. Is that my mistake. And if so, which should I select? The www version or the non-www version? Thanks!
