SEO with facebook and twitter
-
Hi all,
It's become more apparent to us all going forward after the panda update that social signals are becoming more and more important in regards to SERPS.
Our website is www.capitalalist.com and is gaining a decent amount of traffic from Twitter. www.capitalalist.com/twitter and we have managed to work out what works for us on twitter and what doesnt allowing us to interact with our followers more and more.
The problem is facebook. Direct marketing doesn't work here. Our page is www.facebook.com/capitalalist but we are struggling to get any traffic or interaction with our friends.
Any advice on how to market properly for facebook for seo purposes?
Thanks in advance.

Hello Champion!
I see a lot of people having problems with this, and if you realize a simple truth the rewards of Facebook with be plentiful. You can not directly market as you have figured out because people go to Facebook to have fun or be at a party. You can't be "That Guy/Chick" at the party that ruins it for everyone, you have to be suave, chill and relaxed to get the "prey" eating out of your hand. Do things like, take pictures around work, post them on the Facebook. During company events show your employees having fun, put faces behind your company. People will look at your company more with those simple signals of "Hey we are people" and "We like to have fun just like you". You should easily start to generate traffic if you target friend requests based of the Niche you are selling to. IE if I am selling pokemon cards my Facebook account would have pictures of me wearing my pokemon badges, or hanging out with friends at Pokemon card tournaments, or pictures of pokemon to get the people looking at my Facebook going oh snap these guys are legit. Then if they are looking to buy cards they will already have my company or myself in their head and will naturally go with what they are most familiar with when they look for a supplier of pokemon cards. Be friendly and open, you will see what it can offer :D. Good luck on the Quest for the First page Champion!

That's great Brett, thanks for the idea. We will certainly look into this. Does anyone else have any tips on how to get more interaction going with your facebook friends?

We have had great success running a facebook sweepstakes/promotions with www.sweptin.com. We increased our fans and had a lot more interactions. There a few companies that offer this type of service. just google facebook sweepstakes. When running these kinds of promotions you will have to do some marketing on your own end. Like sending out an email blast to customers/vendors and maybe doing a press release. good luck!

Can I verify a Facebook Page with 28k+ likes on it?
Hi there, I want to get the Facebook page of a fashion blogger verified. This blogger has around 28,510 likes on her facebook book at the moment, can this Facebook page be verified? The blogger has been trying to get the FB page verification done for a long time without any luck. Now the blogger wants me to verify her Facebook page. How do I go about the process? It will be great if you can share a step by step process. And how long will it take to get the page verified? Also, I need to get this done soon, so a quick response will be appreciated. If you want any other info please let me know. Regards

Question about pruning your website/blog for SEO
Hey all, So I checked out "The What, Why, and How of Pruning Your Website for SEO" and recently read ahrefs well known article on seo strategy and both really focused on the idea of removing poorly performing pages on your site for an SEO boost. I've asked this question in a few different ways before but I was hoping to get some more insight into this. If my company's blog has thousands of posts going back 5 years, 99% of which only really had pageviews on the day of their release and then after that receive no traffic, direct or organic, am I better off getting rid of (301) 99% of these posts and only sticking to/improving important/performant posts? Does anyone know how other blogs/sites deal with these sorts of issues. Where one function of the blog is to provide informative articles and the other function to post little tidbits (with barely any copy and rapid relevancy decay rate) meant to promote interaction with the blog community (like polls or one line contest winner announcements). Is this an issue of misusing the blog? For example, should the blog just be used for articles and all contests etc. be moved to social media? Thanks in advance for your insights, Roman

Merging Facebook Pages - Getting Support from Facebook
Does anyone know how to get in touch with Facebook regarding issues with Facebook Pages and Merging Pages - I have posted on the Facebook Community Help Pages but no one from Facebook Support seems to read them or get in touch. Anyone got any ideas of how to get help from Facebook? Our original question on Facebook Community Help Pages was this but the question just got "merged" with another question where people were complaining about the same sort of problem with no one (out of 5 people on the thread) having come up with a solution of having heard from Facebook Support. We need to merge two company pages - The category and the address of the company of the page is the same on both pages - one page has a custom url - one does not. Both have the same first two words (i.e. the company name) as the page title. I do not want to list the pages publicly. Is there a way a member of facebook support can message us privately to discuss this please.

Facebook adds a trailing slash to urls?
Hey Guys, we are facing a problem in our www.batuta.com with Facebook shares. Seems like because we choose to set our preferred canonical version urls to end with a trailing slash ( / ), like this one e.g.: www.batuta.com/الوجهات/إسبانيا/ Facebook adds automatically another ( / ) when trying to read the url on first share before its ever indexed in FB. Which makes Facebook think its a bad request! cause then the URL has two // at the end of it. hope this was clear. anyway, so first question: did anybody face this issue before? any solutions? Second, and might be more important: I might be forced to face the option of changing the canonical tags to be a url without a ( / ) if I will have to do this I will enforce a redirect on every url request with an ending trailing slash ( / ) to be redirected to the new canonical version without. will this be enough? how big am I supposed to suffer here? am I facing a long time with double indexed urls? wonder if anybody faced this problem before! Best Regards

Is there Anyway of finding out a companies facebook shares?
Is there anyway of finding out a companies facebook shares. When I checked out a competitor of one of my clients who seems to be very well placed without many links I discovered that they have over 298 facebook shares on Open Site Explorer but when I look at their site or search on facebook I cannot find any business facebook page for this company so I am really intrigued to find out where they are getting these shares from? Does anyone have any ideas?

Best strategy for optimizing Facebook annotations in Bing & Yahoo
My website has a page on Facebook with around 32K connections, these are not showing up in Bing's serp annotations because Bing is not associating my page with the website. Unsure why because I have closed loop links and used their Page Like Box to generate those 32K connections. I have Facebook insights and Bing webmaster tools authorized for the domain Does anyone know how I can ensure Bing makes that connection? If that's not possible, would it be more advantageous to drive likes to my sitewide domain or specific pages? My testing on Bing suggests the domain level like is most likely to trigger annotations, even for deeper pages with no specific likes. http://ministry-to-children.com/ http://www.facebook.com/MinistryToChildren
