Is it possible to generate an XML sitemap for a site without PHP? If so, how?

Have a look at this Screaming Frog

Its one of the best tools to use for creating sitemaps in our opinion.

From what I can tell the first site you listed only works with PHP. Otherwise I would definitely go with that.

I'm sure I can find something to work out of the giant list from your second link. Thanks!

I am always generating the XML sitemap with : http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

HREFLANG: language and geography without general language

Some developers always implement the hreflang for German (which should be "de") as "de-de", so language German and country Germany. There is usually no other German version targeting the other German-speaking countries (mostly ch, at). So obviously the recommendation is to make it "de" and that's the end. But I kept wondering and not finding anything: IF there is a more specialised hreflang, will google take that if there is no default? Example: Search in: de-at (or de-ch) Search result has the following hreflang versions: de-de; x-default (==en), en => Will Google give the result for x-default or de-de?

Despite proper hreflang and lang attribute implementation using xml sitemaps, I'm seeing sitelinks from different countries. Any help please?

When someone searches for our brand in US, instead of only US links, users are served with canadian or iranian sitelinks. Despite we have properly implemented xml sitemaps with hreflangs, even we have implemented lang attribute in the head section of source code for every country. I'd be thankful for any advice.

Sitemap

I have a question for the links in a sitemap. Wordpress works with a sitemap that first link to the different kind of pages: pagesitemap.xml categorysitemap.xml productsitemap.xml etc. etc. These links on the first page are clickable. We have a website that also links to the different pages but it's not clickable, just a flat link. Is this an issue?

Clarification on indexation of XML sitemaps within Webmaster Tools

Hi Mozzers, I have a large service based website, which seems to be losing pages within Google's index. Whilst working on the site, I noticed that there are a number of xml sitemaps for each of the services. So I submitted them to webmaster tools last Friday (14th) and when I left they were "pending". On returning to the office today, they all appear to have been successfully processed on either the 15th or 17th and I can see the following data: 13/08 - Submitted=0 Indexed=0
14/08 - Submitted=606,733 Indexed=122,243
15/08 - Submitted=606,733 Indexed=494,651
16/08 - Submitted=606,733 Indexed=517,527
17/08 - Submitted=606,733 Indexed=517,498 Question 1: The indexed pages on 14th of 122,243 - Is this how many pages were previously indexed? Before Google processed the sitemaps? As they were not marked processed until 15th and 17th? Question 2: The indexed pages are already slipping, I'm working on fixing the site by reducing pages and improving internal structure and content, which I'm hoping will fix the crawling issue. But how often will Google crawl these XML sitemaps? Thanks in advance for any help.

Submitting a new sitemap index file. Only one file is getting read. What is the error?

Hi community, I am working to submit a new a new sitemap index files, where about 5 50,000 sku files will be uploaded. Webmasters is reporting that only 50k skus have been submitted. Google Webmasters is accepting the index, however only the first file is getting read. I have 2 errors and need to know if this is the reason that the multiple files are not getting uploaded. Do I need a link to my sitemap?

I have a very large sitemap. I submit it to both Google and Bing, but do I need a link to it? If someone went there it would probably lock their browser. Is there any danger of not having a link if I submit it to Google and Bing?

Linking without loosing link equity.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had a solution to linking without loosing link equity? From what I have read using 'no follow' on both internal and external links DOES NOT pass any equity across the link to the link target, but also, the latest thought goes that it DOES loose link equity (as if it were a FOLLOW' link). So is there a method of retaining link equity using another method? Thanks
