Capitalisation of campaign keywords - why does this affect traffic but not rankings?
-
Having accidentaly entered keywords into my campaign with both upper-case initial letters ("Product Design") and lower-case initial letters ("product design") I find that the rankings are, as expected, identical.
However, the traffic generated by the keywords is markedly different.
Does this mean that the two versions of the keyword should be treated like totally seperate keywords in future?
Indeed, should I be entering all variants of capitalisation into future keyword campaigns (such as "product Design" and "Product design") if I wish to get the full picture in future?
Any answers would be welcome.

Sorry for the very late response, but wanted to let you know that I took a look into this and it appears that there is a bug in the ranking overview which makes it so we only shows the visit data for the first of two duplicates (differing only by capitalization) that is added. The first will show the number of visits and the second will display a value of "pending".
As for the data itself, if you go to the ranking history for the 2 keywords, it should show the same historical visit data (and has in our tests), so this is consistent with how we should be displaying this.
There is certainly no need to be tracking different capitalizations separately, as our GA data collection is not case sensitive.
If you are still seeing something odd aside from the pending on the overview, please let me know.
Thanks for catching this and bringing it to our attention!

Hi Alan, saw this question in the queue and realized it was never answered. Are you still having difficulty? I can try pinging one of the engineers again.

Hi Alan, it's an odd response. The traffic numbers are pulled from Google Analytics. My belief was that GA is capitalization agnostic - meaning it doesn't matter if the keyword is capitalized or not. Let's see if we can get an SEOmoz engineer to weigh in.

Hey David,
sorry but I don't understand - where are you seeing the difference in traffic. Its been one of those days. I'll catch on in sec!
cheers

Unsolved Keyword Rank History chart has missing data for periods of time
Hello, When I look at the rank history for a particular keyword, there are missing gaps in the data. For example, the keyword was fluctuating around rank 10-20 from Jan 2022 to July 2022. Then suddenly the line on the graph disappears. It starts tracking again in Oct 2022 starting at rank 16. It almost appears as if Moz lost track of the keyword for some time. Other tracked keywords did not experience the same issue during this time. Then as a result, Moz reporting will say the tracked keyword moved up in ranking 40+. What is happening here? I'm unsure how to explain this activity to my clients.

Keyword Research: Page Authority and Keyword Difficulty
A speaker at a conference suggested using your Page Authority (of home page) number as a benchmark in keyword research to compare against keyword difficulty number. So if you had a Page Authority score of 60, you would look for keywords with a difficulty of under 60 (using the MOZ metrics for keyword difficulty). Has anyone used these metrics in this way? Any success?

How can you tell how many pages rank for a particular keyword?
I know with ranktracker I can see a page that will rank for a certain keyword. What if I have multiple pages that rank for this keyword? How can I see all pages that rank for it?

Keyword difficulty always high
HI there, I'm new here and am just getting used to the keyword difficulty tool. I've noticed that just about every keyword phrase I type in, including ridiculous ones such as "perspex underpants" or "guy debord's shoes" all have a difficulty well over 50% and many over 60%. It makes little difference what my phrase is. Am I doing something wrong perhaps? How am I to interpret this result? It would seem to suggest that It is always very hard to rank, even for a rare and ridiculous phrase.

Keywords for Whatafy.com
Hi guys, I own whatafy.com, we translate the articles from my romanian website dli.ro. I'm working on a script for subdomain ask.whatafy.com Whatafy = We Have All The Answers For You Now i'm stuck in seomoz, because as you can see we have articles from over 40 domains, and is a general online magazine with articles. What keywords should i use for main domain ? What competitors to enter in those 3 options so i can track and beat them. Should i make another campaign for ask.whatafy.com when is ready ? or the main campaign have some options to track subdomain to ? I have same situation with dli.ro where in subfolders i have different scripts like, web directory, companies listing, dreams interpretations, illustrated jokes, text jokes, driving licens test, online test for fun, postcodes, wheater, big forum, maps, ecards etc. Is a big portal with everything, and for each subfolder i targeted severel keywords, i need to make a campaign for each folder ?

Rank tracker not working right
so i'm quite new at using seomoz so maybe this is a silly question. a couple of weeks ago i added 6 url to tack weekly and it's been working so far. since then i've been wanting to add several more but it seems that the list is limited to 6. at first i click the checkbox on track column but when that didn't work i updated each url then click "track this url" --> that didn't work either. can anyone help if maybe i'm doing something wrong? thx

Ranking better
Hello there, I am after some specific guidance on how to rank well for the keyword ‘Translation Services’. I have managed to get the site www.pstranslation.co.uk to page 2 of google UK for this key term. The difficulty is I seem to have run out of steam now on how to get higher rankings. After spending a considerable amount of time creating content and gaining links I managed to get the site from around page 15 on google uk to page 4 then to page 2. That’s where it seems to have stopped. I (think I) have got the onsite SEO pretty well nailed. I have got some good linkable content (http://www.pstranslation.co.uk/infog_languages.html,http://www.pstranslation.co.uk/language_resources_indus.html) and have plans to produce a more. Experience working within the language industry tells me that a top 3 position on page 1 for this keyword can very lucrative so my main focus of SEO is to rank well for this key phrase. There is a very good chance you reply will simply be get more (better) links and if it is that’s fine but is there anything else I can do? Am I missing a very obvious trick anywhere? Looking forward to your reply.
